Part 21
'How dare she? She dare deny HIM, HIS feelings? After everything he did for her and her family. This is how she repays him. By saying she loves Arnav!' he thought to himself as he walked quickly to the car. He had to do something to get her. He had to make Arnav hate her. That would help him achieve his goal.
Khushi was quiet the whole ride home, just looking out the window. What Shyam had said kept replaying in her head over and over again. She was so confused and lost. She felt like she was tied up and watching a person hit her loved ones over and over again. She couldn't handle it. She started silently crying, tears coming down her face. She didn't want to lose Arnav or this baby. They both meant the world to her.
Arnav had noticed a change in Khushi since the pharmacy. He didn't know what had caused it. He had to figure out what it was, but he didn't want to push her too far. He looked over at her and saw her watching out the window. He was able to see her face in the window and saw her crying. He stopped on the side of the road and turned towards her.
"Khushi..." he whispered.
Khushi heard him whisper her name. She hurriedly wiped her tears and turned towards him. "Yes, Arnav? What happened?" she asked innocently.
"Why are you crying, Khushi? What happened at the pharmacy?" he asked her, raising his hand to cup her cheek, while swiping away a stray tear.
"Nothing happened. I'm fine. I'm just really moody." she replied and turned to look out the windshield. She knew Arnav would never buy that because just as she turned away, more tears fell down her face. She felt him turn her head to him again and he wiped her tears away.
"Khushi, I know something happened. Tell me. I can't stand to see your tears." he begged her. But she stayed silent. Denying that anything happened. He finally gave up, trusting her to tell him if there was something serious. He changed gears and started off.
When they arrived, Khushi started off to her room when she heard Nani call her.
"Khushi betiya, is that you?"
"Yes, Naniji. Did you need something?" Khushi answered back.
"No, I just wanted to ask how the appointment went? Is everything ok?"
"Yes, Nani. Everything is normal."
She nodded and let her go. Khushi wet straight up to her room, closing the door behind her. She ran to the bathroom, not bothering with locking the door.
Arnav came in a couple minutes after Khushi did. He didn't see anyone so he continued to his room. He closed the door after him and heard Khushi retching in the bathroom. He ran to her and found her kneeling by the toilet. He held her hair back and rubbed her back while she emptied her stomach. When she was done, he helped her to the sink to wash her mouth out. He walked her to the bed and had her sit down. He gave her the medication the doctor gave her for the nausea and covered her with the blanket.
"Khushi, are you ok?" he asked as he smoothed out her hair. He loved the way her hear felt around his fingers, like silk. The way her hair spilled over his fingers like a cascading waterfall.
"I'm fine. Just a little tired." she replied and closed her eyes.
"Khushi, you have to tell me what happened at the hospital. You were fine, but your attitude changed after I met the new client. Did someone say something to you?" he asked her with a worried look, pain in his eyes.
Without saying anything, Khushi fell into her husband's arms and broke down. "I don't want to, Arnav. Please, don't make me. I don't want to do it." she cried.
Arnav was surprised and confused. What did she not want to do? "Khushi, jaan, what don't you want to do? Who's making you do it?" he asked confused.
"I don't want to. Please, don't make me." she begged no one in particular, but aiming it towards that man.
"Khushi, is it the baby? Do you not want the baby? I'm not gonna make you if you don't want to. Please tell me, Jaan. What don't you want?"
Khushi looked up at her husband, looking at him for the first time since the appointment. She realized that he called her "Jaan". It calmed her, showed her that he would support her. But it made her scared again. What If he turned angry and mean again? She also realized what he was saying. He thought she didn't want the baby. Thats the sole reason she was crying. Because she WANTED the baby but Shyam was threatening any chance they could have as a family. Because of him, she had lost any chance, happiness, trust they should have had. The trust was gone. And she didn't know what to do about it.
"Khushi, talk to me. Please tell me what you want." Arnav brought his hand to her cheek, but saw her flinch and put it down. He could see she was remembering the painful memories. And he couldn't do anything. He felt so helpless.
Sorry it was so late but I was kind of busy. Hope you enjoyed it!!
