Chapter 3~ The Official Invitation

Arnav packed his mother's Kangan in a box safely and locked as if he was locking beautiful memories in it. He got up to stand near his French glass door where he could have a better view to his pool. The silent ripples of water that use to satisfy him were torturous now..he didn't want this silence. His ears longed for those clicking bangles, tinkling anklets, and most of all her constant chattering that would fill the room with satisfaction. Arnav gazed deeper into the pool re-thinking about the unfitting ring that was around his wife's finger. SHE'S NOT YOUR WIFE said his mind but..she left before the 6 month deal was over so she still technically is my wife right?! said his heart.

Khushi bent her head down so her chin could rest on the table while she looked at the idol in front of her with questioning eyes "why are you doing this to me? Why do you always make me face that Laad Governor?" she asked with slight irritated yet worried tone. She was about to say more stuff to Devi Maiya when her phone vibrations interrupted the moment.

"What is it Aman?" questioned Arnav who was in no mood to talk to anyone at this point.

"ASR.. sorry but you're late for the meeting" he replied with a shaky tone.

"What meeting and why didn't you inform earlier?" getting even more irritated that he forgot about his meeting with all this Khushi fiasco. And before Aman could come up with an answer Arnav gave out his order "Get them comfortable..I'll be there soon!!"

"Armaan Saxena when you decide about a PRE WEDDING BASH your suppose to tell your fiance!!" yelled Khushi as if the phone was Armaan.

"wooo calm down Khushi..it's just that I wanted to tell you in person about it" he calmly replied trying to suppress his chuckle.

"Don't! Don't make those lame excuses!" she warned with a low tone.

"Okay okay we can fight when I get there but right now I need you to be at the Temptation's located in Connaught Place, there are some new chefs who have applied in that restaurant and I want you to assess them according to the taste we provide" he suggested in a business like tone.

"hmm I'll go check" Khushi responded with a node and was about to hang up when Armaan interrupted "Khushi! I miss you and I'll see you soon" and hung up before Khushi could reply.

Khushi pulled out her jeans that matched her yellow greenish kurti and wore them in a swift so that she could reach the restaurant on time. She would occasionally visit Delhi to handle these chains of Temptation's located here, but she was some how more attached to the Mumbai chains..maybe cause that's where she started her work first. She tightened her hair into a mid-high ponytail and left saying a quick bye to her father.

When she reached she realized that the restaurant seemed pretty much the same as Mumbai expect that it was a bit more crowded. She walked up to the reception and asked for her office direction and was escorted to her office, which was surprising larger than her Mumbai office.

"So where are the new chefs that I'm suppose to inspect?" she asked the man who escorted her in. "Urmm I'm sorry ma'am but the chefs are suppose to come next week.." he said in confused form. But Khushi was even more confused than him "are you sure?" she confirmed and in return he just nodded and left the room saying "do call me if you need anything Ma'aam".

Khushi closed her eyes and sat on the chair with a sigh realizing this is one of Armaan's pathetic pranks to get her to come to work right on the first day itself. Her eyes snapped open at the sound of her phone vibrating "WHAT?" she spat out! And all she heard was his loud laughter, which annoyed her further. "If you are done amusing yourself Armaan then you can tell me why you sent me here?"

"So that I can surprise you idiot" he answered trying to suppress his grin. Khushi instantly looked up in surprise to hear his voice so close but was even more astonished when she saw him leaning lightly against the doorframe, waving his phone at her like she was some kind of 2^nd grade kid.

Arnav seemed to be in a daze throughout his meeting, he tried hard to concentrate on the screen that showed some financial numbers but all he could think about was Khushi. Ughh this has to stop! She's here for few days .. she will go back and all will be back to normal'yeahh that's it!" his thoughts were crashed when he heard Aman call him little louder than his usual tone "A.S.R !!" Arnav glanced at Aman with a WTH look when Aman covered up saying "ASR they are asking your thoughts about the presentation".

"Oh" was all he could say with a blank expression.

Armaan gave a warm hug to Khushi who was still a little confused due to his sudden entry. "You were suppose to come tomorrow," she questioned while breaking apart from the hug. "So should I go back and come tomorrow" he played around like he was leaving. Khushi slapped his back lightly "don't be silly..sit down" she said while seating herself opposite to him. Armaan was the only person that made her this comfortable and to be honest she was actually waiting for him to arrive faster. And of course he always managed to surprise her like this with his stupid pranks. "Look I'm sorry about the Pre wedding bash thing..it came as a surprise to me as well when dad told me" he explained with much more seriousness in his voice now. "Hmm I guess it was needed right? I mean sometime or the other people are going to find out soo.." she trailed off trying to hide the nervousness behind her words. Armaan leaned his back on the chair "look I know you're a bit nervous about this and so am I ..we are in this together yeah?" he made it seem so easy for her that she had to agree no matter how bad it was.

"Fix another meeting with them" instructed Arnav while walking up to his office area with Aman. As they reached his office, Arnav noticed few letters and unopened envelopes lying on his desk and started scanning each to distract himself from Aman's questioning eyes. "ASR I think you should take the day off..you seem a bit tired" he advised. "I don't pay you to advice me about my health Aman" he replied with a flat tone still checking the stuff on his desk. Aman was about to leave the room "What's this?" Arnav asked holding up a blank white envelop with some golden designs on top. "oh right I was going to give it to you..it's an invitation to theee" but was suddenly interrupted "damn is it one of those parties again" inquired Arnav with an annoyed look and threw the envelop on his desk. "No this is important. It's an official invitation from the Tempation chain of restaurants" he paused to see Arnav's eyes widen and then continued "the Saxena's are throwing a pre wedding bash for their youngest son Armaan Saxena and his Fiance Khushi Kumari Gupta" by the time he completed Arnav's jaw were clenched while his muscles tightened showing faint veins that could burst out any moment.

"WHAT????" gasped Khushi not knowing how to react.. "Are you sure? They sent out official invitations to all the industrialists? Wait so that means AR group of companies will get it first since they are most known one in Delhi!" she blurted it out so fast that Armaan had a hard time trying to catch what she was saying.

"Yes" was the only reply he could think of.

Hehe yeah well promise to give you all an Arhi scene by next update :P
