Part 24

Kamini made pudding for Chandni...she did her prayers...she was about to get up when her eyes

fell on the the big earthen pot that was leaking from beneath... "oh no" she panicked...

"Kamla...Kamla" she shouted "bring some vessel, fast"

she knew this holy water was important for Chandni... but she was surprised to see the small hole

beneath the pot... "it wasn't there before..." she worriedly picked up the pot and poured the water in

another vessel...but she wasn't happy...

Slowly she picked up the flowers and some sweets... "go, give it to Chandni... tell her to have bath

with this holy water"

Kamla walked up with a huge vessel upstairs... she knocked the door... Chandni was still sitting on

her bed...she didn't slept the whole night...her thoughts were still wandering around that night when

she lost herself... covered with a blanket, her tussled hair over her shoulders, with moist eyes she

answered "what??"

"Chandni baby open the door...i have to keep this vessel..." Kamla was holding it in her hands...

furiously she got up from the bed...wiped her tears... and opened the door "can't I sleep peacefully in this house???"

Kamla made her way towards the bathroom... "Kamini mam said to have bath with this holy water..."

she poured the water in the bath tub...and walked away...

"holy water is not meant for a girl like me" she cried out...

Veer was desperately waiting for Kaka...he knew what he wanted...finally he was happy with his

life...he knew his dream would come true...Chandni would accept his love... he looked at the

door...

Pratima was surprised to see him sauntering in the lounge...she looked at the clock that showed

7:00am... she was still yawning... "Saab, you woke up early today"

"i didn't sleep..." he responded quickly...

Few minutes later he asked her to call Deenu... baffled she went towards her room... he was

drunk... she picked up a huge stick and hit him on his back... "get up you drunkard..."

he slowly opened his eyes "are you dying today" he asked her...

"i will die after killing you...now open your eyes...Veer saab is calling you..." she kept the

stick...hold his hand and pulled him up...

After some time...

Deenu came at the door "Saab...lets go..."

Veer quickly sat in the car "airport"

Deenu drove towards the airport...Veer looked outside, everything seemed fresh as if this was his

first morning...the morning breeze was filled with her fragrance... it seemed she had touched

him... he closed his eyes and imagined Chandni...

"Saab we have reached Darjeeling..." he quickly opened his eyes... he felt her closer... soon the car

went inside the domestic airport... he was waiting at the arrivals...every minute, every second he

was getting impatient...

"Veer" he turned around to see Kaka behind him... "Kaka..." he quickly hugged him...

Kaka was happy to see him at the airport and moreover happy to see him alive... for the first time he

saw him so happy as if he got a new life... "Veer...you...you look different"

Veer smiled...he knew he had changed... "you are right Kaka...lets go...i will tell you everything..."

Chandni was upset...she didn't come out of her room...though her grandmother called her so many

times...every time she made an excuse... she didn't ate anything since two days... she felt week...

her face looked dry and dull... "no Grandma...i am fine..."

"i am fine...i am fine... you don't look fine...listen Chandni I am calling the doctor...she will come

and check..."

Kamini gave her some soup...

Meenakshi came home early...she went to Chandni's room "Chandni...beta what happened...???"

she tied her hair neatly in a pony tail...

"Doctor is on her way" Kamini said while making her eat something... Meenakshi knew that

Chandni's a strong girl and she would never look so dull...she looked miserable and helpless as if

something disastrous had happened with her...

"Chandni, I always told you that I am your friend and Mother...you can share anything with me..."

Chandni looked at her Mother with moist eyes...

"but Manohar...i haven't seen him in the last two days...i don't know where he goes every morning"

Misha wandered around...

Manohar knew there was something that was disturbing Veer...he vanished from his party and when

they came home, he was sleeping...and next day he went somewhere...Manohar was sure that

something happened during that night... "Pratima...did Veer inform where he was going?"

she closed the kitchen tap "yes Saab...Deenu and Veer Saab have left in the morning...i don't know

where they have gone..."

Manohar tried calling him but he didn't answer his phone... Misha was annoyed and worried as well

"you know Manohar sometimes I feel Veer can never understand my feelings, i...i have come all the

way from Mumbai only for him and he is just ignoring me...i have seen him avoiding me all the

time...he was not like this"

"i know" though he knew Veer was never serious about Misha...not only Misha he was never serious

about anyone...he thought of finding out the reason behind his changed attitude...

"but mom '.." she insisted but Meenakshi did not listen to her... "Chandni...please let the doctor

examine..."Chandni didn't objected and doctor checked her thoroughly...

Dr Das was their family doctor and knew Chandni very well... she had never seen Chandni in this

condition before "well...she has mild fever...but that's normal...i will write some medicines...you

will be alright" she scribbled something on the paper...

Meenakshi caressed Chandni's hair... "Dr Das...please tell me is everything alright??"

Dr Das observed Chandni "can I see you for a minute Meenakshi?" Meenakshi followed Dr Das

outside...

"Honestly...i have never seen Chandni in such a condition before...she's very week...why isn't she

eating '.if this goes on...i am sorry to say, we will have to admit her to the hospital, also I have

feeling that she's depressed...please talk to her" Dr Das picked up her bag and left...

Meenakshi worriedly glanced around...she knew Chandni would never tell her problems...but she

has to somehow find out the reason why her daughter is so upset...

Kaka was quiet but he was happy "if this is true...and if you really love her then we can talk to her

family...but do you think she also likes you?...Veer I would be more than happy if you settle down

with Chandni and make her your life partner...she is a very sensible and nice girl..."

Veer confidently looked at Kaka "now she won't say no...she will have to become my life partner..."

Kamla opened the door "yes Saab please have a seat..."

Veer and Kaka seated on the couch... Kamini came downstairs and greeted them... she looked

carefully at Veer but didn't said anything...

Meenakshi gave Chandni some medicines when Kamla informed her about Veer sitting

downstairs...

Chandni immediately tried to sit up straight...

"no Chandni...you please rest...i will go and see..." Meenakshi walked towards the lounge...

"hello Veer...how are you?" she asked while sitting on the couch...

"very well thanks...this is my Kaka, you can say he is like my Father..." Kaka nodded while

Meenakshi greeted him

Kaka started the conversation "you must be wondering why we both have come here so

early...actually..."

Meenakshi and Kamini were listening carefully...

"I have come to talk about Veer and Chandni...if they can be one in a relationship...believe me Veer

will keep Chandni very happy...and..."

Meenakshi interrupted "Veer...i remember I spoke to you over this matter before...but you were

reluctant...and now suddenly..."

"i know...but things don't remain same always...Chandni has made a special place in my heart and I

'.i want to marry her..." he said firmly...

Meenakshi smiled... though Kamini was suspicious... "well Veer...if both of you are happy then

why will I have any problem..."

"but I have a problem" all looked upstairs at Chandni who stood holding the railing of the stairs...

she slowly tried to come downstairs...

Meenakshi quickly got up "Chandni...you shouldn't be getting up from the bed..."

but Chandni didn't listen to anyone "Mom...please...i won't die if I walk few steps..."

Veer was shocked to see Chandni's condition...she looked ill... "Chandni...what happened..??

why..."

"what happened??? you are asking me Veer...how dare you come here??? and how could you expect

me to marry you??? how could you even think that a girl like me would spend her entire life with a

boy like you???"

She yelled at him...

Meenakshi tried to hold her...but she walked towards Veer... "i '.i will die Veer...but I will never

marry you..."

Veer stood shockingly...he couldn't see her in this condition but moreover he couldn't tolerate her

harsh words that were killing him in pieces...

"Mom...tell him to go away from here...i...i don't want to see his face..." she said and fainted...

"Chandni..." Meenakshi shouted... "Chandni get up..."

Veer quickly lifted her in his arms and took her to the room... he lay her on the bed...

"Veer...i don't know what happened between both of you, but I am sorry I can't force her or even talk

to her about this proposal...i hope you understand" Meenakshi looked at him...

he smiled "please don't worry...i want her to get alright...i can't see her in this condition...i won't

come in front of her...please take care of Chandni...i only want her happy..." he walked

outside...

Meenakshi knew Veer wasn't wrong and Chandni could be wrong in understanding him...

Kaka felt bad... "Veer...i don't want to ask what happened between both of you but '.i can only

suggest you to give some more time...she will surely understand..."

Veer didn't said anything... he regretted that night when he slept with her, he was responsible for her

condition...why did he get closer '.he remembered every moment... he wanted to explain her but

she wasn't willing to listen and now her condition is not so good...he can't even force her to listen to

him...

he walked straight to his room without responding to anyone he shut the door from behind and gulped

a bottle of alcohol down his throat... "Chandni..." he said until he was unconscious...

Few Days later...

"I am so glad you look fine now..." Meenakshi smiled at Chandni who was enjoying her

breakfast...

Chandni smiled back...

Chandni looked at the clock... "oh no...mom I am getting late...i have to rush..." she hugged her

Mother and left for her college...

Kamini thanked God for improving Chandni's condition...

Maneka was happy to see Chandni in college after many days... "i have done all the assignments

myself..."

Chandni smiled "wow Maneka...how is this possible...so hows Rohan??"

"he's going back soon..." she answered sadly...

"why??? I thought you were getting married to him??" Chandni laughed...

"so you are teasing me...wait Chandni..." Maneka ran after her...

both friends laughed...

but deep inside Chandni felt something missing...was it just her thought or was she

actually missing him...
