Loved the dramabaaz nupur

MN house – evening

the car stopped in front of the house. Mayank turned to see nupur sleeping . He swallowed a lump as he saw her worn out face , her two day old dress and the hassled expression even when she was sleeping.

He shook her and called softly," nupur, utho. Ghar aagaya" she got up with a start and rubbing her eyes ," agaya? Abhi abhi aankh lagi thi" and yawned," mayank kuch hoga ghar mein khaane ke liye" he nodded," bhook lagi hain. Hospital mein insaano ka khaana nahin dete. Chalo" and opening the door stepped out slowly and carefully. Mayank by then had come to stand next to the door and held it open till she got out. As soon as she stepped out, he placed his arm around her and helped her towards the door.

"dard hain?" she shook her head in the negative.

The door opened as they reached it and gunjan hugged nupur, crying. Mayank left her and stood aside.

"di! Tum teek ho? Main kabhi kabhi bhi tumhe chodke nahin jaanewaali. Kabhi bhi kisike bhi baat nahin maanoongi " nupur hugged her back not able to reply immediately.

"gunjan , usse andher aane do" samrat smiled at her and then glanced at mayanks serious face

"main kitni ghabraa gayi thi di. Hum dono tho hospital hi aarahe the ki jiju ne kahaan ki tumhe discharge kardiya aur tum ghar aarahin ho. Di tum teek ho na?" and stroked her arms and cheeks as she walked her to the sofa. Nupur sat on the sofa and put her legs up on the table infront of her. Mayank brought her a glass of water. She smiled and drank it still not replying, gunjans scare and concern locking away her own fears for the moment.

" gunjan tum mera madat karogi " mayank asked her

"haan jiju, boliye"

"nupur ko upar chadna nahin hain tho kya tum uske saamaan neechewaale room mein shift kardoge." gunjan was almost getting up when nupur held her water glass away and cried out," mayank, main neeche nahin..."

"nahin nupur, maa ne pehle bhi tumse kahaan tha aur hum ne unke baat seriously nahin li thi"

"par mayank main ...Aaj itne hafthe baad gunjan aur samrat mile hain tho baat karne do" she looked at gunjan hopefully

"di main jaldi hi kardoongi. Aap tab tak yahaan aaram se lete raho" and helping nupur sit down more comfortably, she went up

"main khaana lagatha hoon" mayank went into the kitchen

samrat stared at nupur and resisting the urge to go behind mayank, sat in front of her. Nupur frowingly stared at the kitchen turned as samrat sat facing her.

"tho?" both said together and smiled slightly

"tho kaisa rahaan?" nupur asked him before he could speak," tum logon ka trip? Sorry samrat meri wajah se tumhe jaldi waapas aana padaa. Agar gunjan ko dekhe bina rehsakthi tho rehlethi par..." she added apologetically

"tum mujhse maafi maang rahin ho? Kya nupur! " samrat brushed aside her apologies ," Tum ab teek ho na?" she nodded

"aur baby?" she nodded again "kya hua tha?"

"pata nahin. Mujhe tho pains hua tha" she replied ," jaise delivery ke waqt hota hain waise"

" jiju Doctor ne kya kahaan? "

" wo doctor- unhone jo bataya wo bhaasha mujhe samaj mein nahin aathi bas discharge ke waqt smile karrahe the tho sab teek hi hain " nupur said still uncertainly though smiling

"doctor ne kahaan ki its normal in pregnancy ki kabhi kabhi aisa pains aathe hain par itni jaldi nahin aana chahiye aur itne strongly bhi nahin.Aur hamare ...(stopping short of saying twins) nupur ka seventh month start hogaya hain tho humein careful rehna hain" gunjan opened her mouth but mayank continued, " Abhi ke liye koi problem nahin.Discharge hone ke baad ghar mein rest lena hain kuch din tak."

" par jiju aisa kyun hua? " mayank looked at her blankly and walked out with a plate , gunjan followed him wondering what was on his mind

"pata nahin maine tho kuch nahin kiya " nupur replied to samrat showing all the frustration she felt at not being able to understand what she had done or not done to have that scare of having to lose her kids, "waise gunjan ko mat batana wo darr jaayegi par mujhe bohot darr laga samrat jab us nurse ne kahaan ki agar itni jaldi bachhe baahar aathe tho.." and stopped seeing mayank with gunjan.

with an effort she smiled more saying, "Hojaatha hain bas. yeh saare doctor log na khamakhaa daraa dethe hain taaki unko zyaada paisa milsakhe bas...kuch tha nahin tho do din tak wahaan rehne ki kya zaroorat thi? pregnancy mein aisa hi hota haina mayank? Tumne mujhe padke sunaya tha. Shayd maine kuch galat khaaliya hoga isiliye zyaada aagaya" she turned smiling falsely to mayank as she spoke and before he could reply, turned to gunjan," tune itni jaldi shift kiya sab kuch?"

gunjan smiled .mayank held the plate out to her saying," khaalo"

"khilaaoge?" she asked without any hopes of him actually feeding her. to her surprise, he sat down and prepared to feed her.

She raised her eyebrows at him but ate without any comment. Samrat sat in front of them feeling restless and disheartened. He had not seen these two so quiet , they always were bantering. He didnt like it at all. He turned and saw his feelings mirrored in gunjans face as she also stared at them. They exchanged glances and silently accepted that both were more scared than they were allowing themselves to show.

"mujhe ek baat ka darr hain ab" nupur said suddenly breaking the uncomfortable silence," ki mera last exam complete nahin ho paaya tho mujhe phir se exam likhna padega" she sighed

"nahin , tum paas hojaaogi tho..." mayank

"mayank main poori paper likthi hoon tab bhi mujhe paas hone ka vishwaas nahin rehtha aur ab tho maine aadha bhi paper nahin likha hain" she smiled

"nupur agar tum fail hogayi tho bhi its okay.tumhe phir se exam likhne ki koi zaroorat nahin hain" he said sternly," tum bas aaram karo , koi tensions koi stress mat lo...aur bas ...khush raho" he completed in a low voice. Nupur felt her eyes filling up but shook it off and holding his hands in hers turned to gunjan saying," tum logon ne photos liya? Mujhe dekhna hain"

gunjan nodded while samrat looked at mayank trying to understand what he seemed to be missing.

MN guest room night- nupur on the bed trying to sleep, unable to, turns from one side to another with difficulty . Mayank on the laptop

"mayank please aaona. Ab aur kya baaki bacha hain padne ke liye pregnancy ke baare mein? Un saare hospitalwaalon se zyaada tho tumhe hi pata hoga abhi" she added sarcastically

"tum so jao nupur. Mera kaam khatam karke.."

"mayank! Mujhe is kamre mein nahin rehna hain, yahaan mujhe neend nahin aayegi aur tum ho ki phir se... "he got up , sat next to her on the bed. She held his hand in hers and kissed it.

"hum waapas hamare kamre mein chalthe haina mayank"

"zidd mat karo nupur" he leaned on the pillows next to her

" ek sach baat boloon, mujhe bohot darr lagrahaan tha. Mujhe laga ki bachhe ko kuch hua hoga. Par phir baad mein itna dard ho rahaan tha na ki mujhe laga ki mujhe kuch honewaala hain! " her voice came in softly and adjusted her position to sleep on his lap. He patted her head softly but didnt reply.

"kuch tho bolo" no answer," kya hua ??mayank kya kuch chupaa rahe ho?"

" nahin,main bhi darr gaya tha" his hand which was in hers held hers back tightly and he closed his eyes for a second trying to get the image of nupur in the exam room screaming in pain out of his head. He felt her holding on to him and still couldnt bring himself to thank god that things were fine now. Both were quiet for a while, nupur tiredly closing her eyes.

"sorry nupur" he suddenly blurted out ,"sab meri hi galthi hain "

"kya? Tum ...mayank kya hua?"nupur sat up on the bed looking and feeling tired but more worried, holding mayanks hand in hers,"tumhaari galthi? "

"maine hi tumhe exams dene ke liye mazboor kiya tha na. Aur exams ke saare hafthe tumne na hi time time pe khaana khaaya hain ya soyi ho, aur itni stress mein thi ...sorry nupur...main...sab meri wajah se.." and turned away from her to avoid showing his guilty look.

" tumhaari koi galthi nahin hain. Chup raho. Tumne tho mujhe daraa diya," she smiled releived that it wasnt anything serious and slept back on his lap facing one side ,stroking his cheek ," ab kya apne biwi bachhon ke baare mein sochna bhi galthi hogaya? Tum khamakhaa ek aur tension sar pe mat modlena" and his hand in hers, closed her eyes giving in to tiredness.

Mayank looked at her not convinced and patting her on the forehead looked at the laptop which was lying slightly away.
