mayank came in limping leaning on samrats shoulder. Nupur and gunjan saw them at the door.

kya hua? started and it took a while for him be settled on the sofa , his leg stretched out on the table in front of him, wincing in pain now and then.

"tumhe chot aayi hain!" nupur wiped his forehead which had a few scratches, her eyes round in fear as he looked tired and weak.

"samrat hum abh hospital chale?" he asked as nupur held his hand in hers tight

"haan, abhi aaya" and walked out signalling to gunjan to come out with him

"mayank tumhe kuch chahiye? Paani?"

"nahin nupur , tum bas yahin raho. Mere paas" she sat next to him his hand holding hers tight. He closed his eyes in pain and her eyes filled up ," mayank kya hua?"

"tho tum airport se seeda hospital kyun nahin gaye?" gunjan asked samrat outside

"kyunki mayank ko nupur se milna tha aur wo...pata nahin chashmish wo paagal sa behave karrahaan hain. Chalo mujhe fuel bhi fill karna tha "

"lagtha hain ki fracture hua hain. Main chal nahin paarahaan hoon "

"bohot dard horahaan hain mayank?" nupurs eyes kept filling up," tum apne shoes kyun pehne hue ho?"

"nupur tumhaara tests kaisa hua?" he asked her suddenly

nupur for a second did not know what he was talking about. Then realised.

" tests? Wo achha nahin gaya mayank. Par tum kya is waqt bhi padhaai ke baare mein..." she shook her head with a faint smile

"but achha kyun nahin hua?"

"chodo mayank hum baad mein..."

"tumhe kab seriousness aayegi nupur? Tum kyun nahin samajthi ki.."

"mayank, main akeli hi padrahin thi kyunki rohan aur ashwini dono ka kuch tensions hain, phir samrat ke parents se bhi milna tha aur main jo bhi padrahin hoon wo bhool jaathi hoon aaj kal. Aur main tumhe bhi miss karrahin thi. Par mayank ek test hain bas final exams nahin. Main wo pass karloongi. Tum abhi uski tension mat lo." she answered him briskly as she removed his socks slowly

"waah nupur. Itne saare reasons. Jo main boltha hoon usko follow karne mein tumhe kya..." his voice raising

"sorry mayank," she cut him short," maine realise nahin kiya ki tumhe itna bura lagega. Abh se seriously padhai karoongi. Promise" she held her fingers to her throat and with tears still flowing down," please abh gussa mat ho. Waise bhi tumhe dard horahaan hoga , please chalo, hospital chalthe hain. Samrat bhi aagaya" she turned to samrat," tumne isse hospital kyun nahin leke gaye pehle?"

gunjan stopped samrat from answering and looked at the two of them uneasily. all four of them went without much more talking concentrating on moving mayank without hurting his feet.

Hospital room

mayank on the bed, his leg in a cast and under the sheet sleeping because of the medications

"nupur tumhe ghar jaana hain tho jao. Main hoon yahaan" samrat told her

nupur threw him a dirty look," wo mera pati hain samrat."

"maine kab kahaan ki wo mera pati hain." samrat replied back sarcastically

"samrat!" gunjan intervened between them," di main jaanthi hoon tum yahin jiju ke paas rehna chahogi par tum agar thak gayi tho batadena. Hum dono yahin rahenge " she said indicating the corridor

nupur nodded and sat on the stool holding mayanks hand

"tum bhi na samrat! Di waise bhi itni tension mein hogi"

"isiliye tho kahaan ki ghar jao" he shook his head," kuch serious nahin hain fracture hain bas. Aur agar ismein akal hoti tho yeh wahin pe dikhaake aasaktha tha. Almost do din rukne ki kya zaroorat thi? Uski wajah se hi ab pain dekho zyaada hain. waise bhi mayank ko waapas do din pehle hi aana tha tho wahaan ruka kyun? " samrat vented out his frustration," aur upar se nupur ko daant..."

"samrat tum mayank ko dosh kyun derahe ho? "

"yeh lo bhalayi ka zamaana hi nhain rahaan. Main tumhe support karrahaan tha" he grumbled

"Wo itna dard sehrahaan hain aur tum ho ki ...tum uski dost ho ya dushman..tum yahaan se jao isse pehle ki main..." nupur scolded him hardly regsitering what he was trying to say

"di samrat ka wo matlab nahin tha" and gesturing him to shut up, placed her hand on nupurs shoulders comfortingly," hum dono baahar baithe hain" and pushed samrat out

nupur adjusted the sheet covering mayank and thought,"mayank, tumne wait karne ki kya zaroorat thi? Aur mujhe phone pe bhi nahin bataya. Doctor ne kahaan hain ke tum jaldi teek hojaaogi. " and bending over him kissed him on the forehead wiping her eyes.

He moved in his drugged sleep but continued to sleep.

MN house- three days later

shilpa in the kitchen cooking. Nupur came in and sitting near the counter tiredly picked up something and started eating.

"so rahaan hain kya?"

"haan maa. Medicines ki wajah se"

"uska pain kam hua?"

"abhi kuch din tak dard ki goli leni padegi" shilpa looked at nupur s worried face and felt a warmth for her. She had been worrying excessively and running between rooms to make mayank comfortable getting tired in the process.

"teek hojaayega nupur. Fracture hain wo bhi minor sa. agar wo usi din kuch karleta tho itna bhi nahin hota" nupur smiled

"achha hua ki aap aagayi abhi warna mayank ko sambhalna mushkil hi nahin naamumkin hain. Agale do din mein gunjan ko samrat ke parents aur relatives se milna tha tho main akeli padjaathi. Sab busy hain"

"haan, par main next week gunjan ke shaadi pe nahin aapaaungi nupur" she sighed ,"wait karrahin hoon ki kab mera contract khatam hojaaye aur main ghar pe aaram se baith sakoon"

"aap itna kaam kaise karleti hain maa. Mayank aap par hi gaya hain. Main tho kuch bhi nahin karsakthi"

"zaroorat aadmi se sab kuch karwaadeta hain nupur. Itna kuch tho kararhin ho" shilpa said with a smile but seriously

"nupur..." mayanks voice came loudly

"main abhi aayi' and she ran

"sambhal ke jao nupur" shilpa said to her receding back.
