what i do not understand is how someone become moral police thinking their perspective is the correct one. in 21st century i thought our mentality has also progressed along with technology. are we still going to think sex as a vulgar word?(sue me for spelling out the disgusting word). i think firstly 99% of the shows discussed in this forum is not for 9 yr olds. So the point of keeping their sensibilities in mind is too weird to even debate upon. if u think same set of rules are applicable for 9 and 29, i seriously doubt the ruler-makers sense of logic. trying to portray someone's creation as vulgar or por***raphic in some nice words does not take out the sting from the insult. just coz some 2-3 folks from their self-conceived moral highground lack literary appreciation does not make the rest hundred perverse readers. what are we? blind illiterate idiots? The reason I came to this topic because i personally find it pathetic to see minimuffin's beautiful FF Pandora's Box being insulted in this way. Some "morally high" ppl just choose to see the 2-3 scenes from 32 chapters, do not care abt the context and pretends love making is an unspeakable sin instead of a natural part of life. then who is perverse? the one who treats it as a natural, beautiful experience or one who treats it as something to be hushed abt?

If someone takes the comments personally, then i am sorry but the accusation made in the first place was personal to those talented authors...so deal with it.

I think people have already almost everything that needed to be said. Find a solution. Don't find a solution. I hardly care. Talented writers will find readers on other websites that are more accommodating (read sensible!) with respect to their policies. Fact remains, Savita Bhabhi was one of the most popular websites in India while it existed. Fact remains, we still allow people to tear down Archies' stores on Valentines' Day as a protest against the celebration of a day of love for couples. Fact is, 1.2 billion people didn't just drop down from the sky. A lot of somethin'-somethin' happened. Not trying to give a lecture on why India is backward here. Trying to say THIS.

I, for one, would respect IF more if they chose to allow people to write what they liked, not merely to support freedom of speech (Though that should be reason enough!), but also because only by such expressions can we find solutions to wider problems. Recognize this. Be brave. Be bold. Go where no one has gone before. Find a way to make this work. People will respect you the more for it. Stick to the narrow minded atlas you have now, and you are just another Kapil Sibal who wants to censor Facebook and Google. You'll get laughed at, eventually. Because the task you have set out to accomplish is futile.

This outrage is temporary. The outcome, is long-term. Think about it.

Also, calling Pandora'a box crass is akin to saying Meryl Streep is cheap because she took her clothes off in some scenes. Meryl Streep took her clothes off because the scene demanded it.

Also, am I the only one who sees the irony in the fact that a story called Pandora's Box has generated so much outrage because it was closed? In other words, a Pandora's box was opened by the closing of Pandora's box! (Sorry, I have to joke even when I'm serious!)

Oh, and if a 9 year old is reading this. Beta, go play tag with your friends. 😆

Cheers!
Vidhya

PS: Munchy, you are wonderful. I love your work and I love Pandora's box. Just saying. 😊

PPS: Also, not ranting at the poor Mods who are just doing their jobs. Ranting at the higher ups who laid out this archaic policy. Want to make the distinction. Don't want to shoot the messenger here.

There not "children" here yet quite young kids from 15 -18 who are curious to read things, to know things and perceive it differently. and may develop thoughts that can lead to implement it all practically too' its just matter of a little responsibility

Writers here are meant to write stories, things relevant to stories are okay, yet so many are going on tht only have such content and that so unnecessarily.

Thanks Mods for taking action

Completely disagree and find the above statements quite judgemental, to say the least!!! Who are you or I to deem that descriptions of intimacy are not necessary, unless we are the writers of that story. I'd like to know what story you've read on this site that made you close out of it b/c it was too much for your sensibilities b/c I'm 35 and have yet to read anything that disgusts me, besides narrow-mindedness. 😲
And if 15/18 yr olds are curious about such things, I doubt India Forums is their outlet of choice. If this is their outlet for learning about physical intimacy, then that's quite pathetic. Have you ever been to your local library!?! The stories in many of the YA books are much more descriptive than anything you will find in this forum and those are specifically geared towards teenagers... Would you be okay with them closing down your local library b/c a few people may find some of the books offensive!?! 😆 Not likely... So why thank mods for shutting down a perfectly good story that a majority of readers are completely satisfied with!?!
I agree that writers are meant to write stories, but who made you (the reader) judge and jury of what the story should entail!?! Just because something offends your 'sensibilities', it does not mean the rest of the world has issues with it. Anyone with an active love life knows that the descriptions of intimacy are quite accurate and only work to enhance the readers experience by being able to relate to it. It's quite pathetic when adults, themselves, seem to be put-off by things that are a part of everday life... Not sure if it's just prudishness or an ungratifying love life, but why would anyone want to have someone's creativity censored when it's within the allowable limits of what anyone over the age of 18 can handle.
To people that don't like such things, I say skip it... Again, why thank Mods for closing something that most people want to read just b/c you deem it 'unecessary'!?!

I'm in sync with Shuheda (Nayika) and ninand here. You say that we're not allowed to write explicit content but then you go to say anything can be written tastefully. Self contradictory much? It seems to me that you're deeming any kind of sex scene to be po*nographic, which in my opinion is narrow-mindedness on your side. When I say "your", I'm not attacking anyone in specific, just the general opinion.

Coming to your mention of 9 year olds on this site, I'm sorry but what the hell are 9 year olds doing here anyway? If their parents have left them unsupervised and have allowed them to watch the inappropriate content that is shown on television today, it's their fault! Besides almost every mature-themed OS/SS/FF I've read has always come with a warning right before the start of the FF, saying that it's going to have mature stuff in it. If after this, 9 year olds (as you say) continue reading, it's their mistake, not the writer's. You can't put a stop to a writers creativity just like that.

You guys need to understand (with all due respect) that there is a major difference between po*n and sex. I've read a lot of mature stuff, and no matter how detailed it gets, there's still a difference between it being called po*n and it being called love-making/sex. Having said that, I think what is po*n/inappropriate and what is alright, depends upon the reader's sensibilities. If you don't enjoy reading graphic sex scenes, then fine! Stop reading them, as simple as that! Why would you want others to stop reading too?! Each person here, is old enough to make their own decision, I don't think others should make that decision for them. Besides as Shuheda said, the number of likes/comments show that the average age of people is much more than 9! I think the average age of readers here is 15-16 and by that time I think we all know all that there is to know, about sex.

So in all honesty, I don't agree at all with this rule, because it simply asks us to write like children, and writers don't come here to please other people's opinions, they come here to unleash their creativity and I think people should be accepting of that, in whatever form it is.

I respect IF and it's administrators/moderators but this particular rule needs to be given a re-think in my opinion.

its seriously not done.
i would request that when you see 'graphical content'(your words not mine)..please go through the entire ff..or at least give it a glance. then you would realise what im trying to say here.

case in point "the pandora's box"..was a heart meltingly beautiful piece of art..with a huge mature fan following(what are 12 year olds doing here..i ont even know).
we are all shocked and saddened by its pre mature ending.
please please please read the entire thing and then you will realise that the content wasnt explicit for the heck of it...it was needed..you would see the emotional depth that the story has...
please withdraw you censor here..coz it was really not needed...the author is mature enough to know what goes with the storyline and what doesnt..and trust me..so are her readers.

please please..consider my request!

I second this request!!
Its not like I'm into vulgarity!! In fact I've read some really vulgar stuff on this forum, trust me!!
But case in point here is, "Pandora's box". The leads are married, and what are they expected to do??

PLAY FRIGGING LUDO???!!!

I'm sorry for this outburst, but I don't understand!!!!
If parents allow their 9-year olds to WATCH such shows, and JOIN forums for such shows, WHY ON EARTH should we comply by cutting down on the love scenes??!! I'm not responsible for the kids here!! As are most of the people here!!!

Why sadden the grown-ups here just for the sake of a few kids???

Are we all so narrow-minded that we can't write/read about the most basic form of love?????

*sigh* This is sad . . . .

Real sad!!!!

I am totally shocked!!! I do understand the rules as put forward by VIjay. But , you are not the universal parents here.I fail to understand what are the 9 yr olds doing here. It's the parent' s job to keep them away , not yours.Further, there is a difference between P* rn and Lovemaking.

Pandora Box is an exceptionally beautiful story written by An amazingly sweet member, Muffin. It takes a lot to write an FF, with such lovely words, thought and content even though she has a family to look after . She is taking so much of her effort to please us readers, wherein she just gets comments of praise which boosts up her fascination and encourages her to write ...nothing else.

Please, DO NOT...send such warnings to some of the most talented writers in this forum...it cuts their CREATIVITY BRUTALLY.
A story sometimes require physical intimacy to take the plot ffwd...it creates a vacuum, and sense of lost if the physical intimacy is not explored..especially for a character to take its form.Do understand this.Appreciate their effort.Have a thorough read of Pandora Box...it is simply beautiful, she has taken a subject which is sensitive, yet woven it delicately into the most wonderful story, I have come across. It inexplicably makes you feel really good.

I hope u do to certain extent modify the rules, and take away the warnings issued.U do know, that your forum is so active due to certain members here who make this forum a place to have some healthy discussions with phenomenal posts and some of the most enchanting FF/ SS , VM's n OS's.
You don't want some of the most intelligent members to just wither away and left with some bunch of 9 yr olds ...having their opinion on Barun's anatomy.
Oh shoot!! Common guys THINK of it...do you just want this to be some ordinary forum ruled by the opinions of a bunch of high school kids ( in fact elementary)or something where the Freedom of Speech and Expression is valued and always is put into action by some Rocking , matured sensible members.
***Please do consider our Opinions and you take a vote if you want to, but don't let Pandora Box ...Wither away ***

look, i agree that some scenes are just plain crass, but its more because the writer is just... a bad writer. im not trying to be mean, but its true.
there are plenty of writers though who write these kinds of scenes beautifully, without using the words you dont wanna see.

but honestly, why are 9 year olds even watching these shows? and if they do watch this show and come on the forum. umm well, they understand quite a bit dont they? i mean lets face it, children grow up wayyy faster then they used to, so its basically useless. and it theyre on IF, whats stopping them from typing in "erotic literture" and just reading that instead of the banned ff's?
wait, lemme think- NOTHING.

basically, censoring does nothing but kill the population here.
