Geet was silently staring at him without blinking, still dazed with the piece of information revealed to her. But soon composed herself as she realized the gravity of the situation. She knew what their motherland and its safety meant to both her brother and maan and for that they had given big sacrifices and are still giving. One lost his life and the other his identity...his family and his freedom. An understanding came to her and she kept her hand on his shoulders in assurance.

I understand maan, it must have been tough for you...he looked at her...giving up your own identity to safeguard the country...!!...she paused for a second...I am really proud of you and I am sure you'll achieve your goal very soon...she gave him a smile full of trust and love.

Maan was surprised at her words and to say was happy would be an understatement. He felt light may be after years. Geet's words filled him with a new zeal and energy and once again he felt the same amount of confidence that had faltered a bit after adi's demise. Didn't know what came over him and the very next moment he engulfed geet in his embrace.

Geet was totally amazed at his sudden act, but the moment she was touched by his warmth, she reciprocated with equal fervour. There could be nothing more assuring than a loving hug and some soothing words. Receiving both from geet, maan wanted nothing else but the moment to last forever.

They remained in each other's arms for quite a long time. After sometime they broke the hug. Though maan told her about sam and his intentions, but the thought of maan being intimate with a girl that too sameera was creating a pang of jealousy in her. Some kind of pain was stabbing her heart.

The question was wandering in her mind creating a hurricane and before she knew, it was out of her mouth...

Uh, maan...she paused...did you...I mean have you and sameera...woh...she didn't know how to frame her sentence, but her fumbled words were enough for maan to understand her query. But with the understanding came a naughtiness in his mind...

What geet...??...what are you asking about...??...he asked making the most innocent face.

Geet just cursed herself for putting forth this question and him even more for being such an imbecile at the time of need...hey babaji, aise toh sirf yehi saari baatein karte rehte hain par abhi aise pooch rahen hain jaise koi sadhu muni ho...she thought cursing him umpteenth time. Seeing her troubled face maan thought to give her some respite and said with a small smile...

No geet, I never slept with her. I just could not...!!

This single simple statement of his filled her heart with a new joy and happiness. Like she got world's greatest treasure.

She looked at him with utmost adoration and both end up in an everlasting eyelock, until the shrill ring of maan's cell brought them back to earth. Both feeling a bit awkward...not knowing what to say just remained mum. Maan took his call and got busy with it for sometime while geet tried to control her out of control her heart. She was unable to understand...what was in his touch and looks which always rendered her breathless...he was like a powerful magnet and she the flings of iron ready to get immersed in him whenever he was around. This feeling was way beyond her understanding and control.

But with this thought came back the other thought of dev, she knew her brother has already selected her life partner and she could never go beyond her brother's words. A conflict between her heart and mind started initiating. I have to ask maan about dev...she thought...and if he is the one bhaiya chose for me then it'll be him only...!!...she resolved, but then her heart's voice called out for maan. She looked at him talking to narang in his typical don style. The mere thought of being away from him and moreover with someone else pierced her heart. How she wished adi was here with her, she so much needs him right now.

Maan finished his call and came back to her to find her lost in thoughts. He snapped his fingers infront of her eyes...

Hey geet, where are you lost...??

Huh...oh...no nothing...I was just...she averted her eyes which had turned a bit misty with the thoughts of separation from maan and adi's demise, but maan noticed it. He held her face in his hands and turned her to face him...hey...kya hua...??...a drop roll down from her eyes, which was instantly wiped from her cheeks by maan...geet, adi ki yaad aa rahi hai...??

Geet looked up at him but didn't said anything. Maan held her face in his hands firmly...geet, I know its hard for you to cope up with his loss, but I can only say that by crying at his martyr you are belittling his efforts and sacrifice...!!

Nahi maan, aisa nahi hai...geet rubbed her face with her palm...I respect bhaiya and his sacrifice, its just that now I am all alone in this world...before she could say anything more maan kept his finger on her lips...

Sshh...!!...don't ever say that again, geet...you are NOT alone...he held her face...I am there with you...for you...!!...and gave her a loving hug. Geet felt so secure in that hug. It always happened.

So, now I don't want to hear that rubbish from your mouth again, okay...??...he said coming out of he hug and geet simply nodded with a smile.

Okay, now listen to me carefully...both sat down on the bed adjacent to each other...it was narang's call and I'll have to go, but you'll not come with me...!!

But you are not well...aapki chot...geet started but maan cut in...its nothing serious geet and you have already nursed me well...he winked at her with a smile making her smile in return.

Aur haan, our talk is still not complete, so you'll be a good girl and remain here till I am back...he stated as a matter of fact.

But...geet tried to oppose, but he was not ready to listen

No buts geet...you have already risked your life enough, but I am not taking any chances anymore. You are going to stay here and that is final...saying so he wore his shirt and jacket and moved towards the door. He stopped at the entrance and glance at her...please geet, I am already suffering from guilt after adi's death and you are too precious to lose...!!

With that said he stormed out of the room. Geet looked at his retreating form and sighed loudly. She can clealry see his worry for her and about risking her life, well to think of it she had actually risked her life more even when intended to hurt him. But she was thankful to babaji that none of her traps harmed him or what would have happened...she shuddered at the very thought of it. In all this she again forgot to ask about dev.

Don strode into his office in full style. Narang, sam his few other important men were waiting for him. As soon as he came inside sam gave him a hug...

Thank god you are fine, don. I was so scared...!!

But don was hardly in the mood of all this. He removed sam's hands and said in an irritating voice...stop it sam...I am not a weak looser, who'll get hurt with a single bullet...I am perfectly fine...!!

But still don, who were the people...??...narang asked

Don't worry about them narang, I have taken care of it...don said with a calm voice, but then sam noticed geet's absence and thought to use it in her advantage...

But don, I think all these unusal happenings are taking place due to some new and unwanted members...don and others looked at her...I don't trust that girl, geet...she sometimes act way too smart...!!

Don't rake your brain unnecessarily sam. Geet is good at her work and as far as trust is concern...there is no such word in our world so just cut it...his voice was harsh and firm.

But she is not even here...I am sure she would be busy plotting something...that bit...

Shut the hell up sam...!!...don roared as she insulted geet...I told you already...just stay out of it. Though I don't need to give you any explaination, but so that you'll let me work in peace listen...I have send her for some important work and that is why she is not here...so now, don't eat my head...!!

All guessed his cranky mood as a result of the attack and decided to give him some space. Sam was just pissed at his careless attitude at geet's absence, but not wanting to be shouted at anymore just stormed out of his cabin. After that none asked him anything about it. Narang informed him about one their important consignment of drugs being caught by the police...

What the hell are you all doing...??...our business is suffering so much of loss one after another and all you have to do is give lame excuses...he acted all angry the way he usually do, while others silently listened to him.

I have to talk to chief...this is getting serious and I have some very important work to discuss with him...he fished out his cell and dialed chief's number.

Maan came back in the evening. Geet was in her room while romeo in the living room. As soon as romeo saw maan, he rushed to kitchen and brought a glass of water for maan...

Bhaiya, aapka chot kaisa hai...??...apun apke liye kuch lekar aaye...??
(bhaiya, how is your wound...??...should I get you something...?? )

Nahi romeo, mujhe kuch nahi chahiye aur main thik hun...he replied and then asked...waise geet kahan hai...??
( no romeo I don't need anything and I am fine )...( by the way, where is geet...??)

Geet didi kamre mein hain...apun bulata hai...romeo was about to go, when maan stopped him...nahi rehne do...main khud jata hun...!!
( she is in the room...I'll call her )...( no, let it be...I'll go myself )

Maan went to his room ( the one which was locked before) and saw geet reading some file. He went closer and peeped from behind and got really shocked...geet, who gave you that...??

His sudden question startled her, she relaxed on seeing him...oh maan, you scared me...!!...she said with her hand on her chest.

I am sorry for that, but first tell me, who gave you that official file...??...did you bribed any officer...??

Geet saw his stern and serious look and answered...a friend of mine helped me out and I didnot bribed anybody...!!

Is that person in police...??

She nodded not knowing why he was getting so hyper...but, what happened...??...why are you so tensed...??

Geet, this is adi's case file...no one is allowed to give away police documents like his to anyone...its illegal...!!

I know maan, but I requested him and at that time I had only one aim to find bhaiya's culprit and for that whatever came to my mind I did...!!

But maan had something else going on in his mind...who is that police officer geet...??

Maan, I know it was wrong to extract an important police document like this, but...

What's his name...??

Please listen to me...it was not his fault...geet tried to make him understand.

Geet I am asking you something...answer me dammit...!!

But geet couldn't put someone in danger because of her...I can't tell you that I have promised him...!!

To hell with your promise...geet flinched at his raised voice...do you have any idea what a police document and that too of such an important case means...??...if the person can give you this, he is not a trustworthy officer...!!

Thats not true maan...he is honest...she was thinking that how can her brother's choice be dishonest.

And as far as I know you don't know anyone in this field apart from me and adi...so, did you came in contact with him...??...now he was having serious doubts that this guy could be dangerous.

If adi knew him, I should know him as well...maan folded his hands across his chest and asked again...whats his name...??

Geet looked at him once and knew she has no way out now...dev...dev bakshi...!!

Geet nodded...yes, when I came to mumbai, he only helped me in all the formalities. DCP sir only asked him to help me...you can ask him...!!

Woh toh I'll...maan was still not convinced while geet rolled her eyes at his obstinacy...

Why are you getting so cranky...??...I told you na, bhaiya knew him infact...she paused choosing words to convey her thoughts in the next sentence...infact he liked the guy so much that he chose him for me, then tell me how can he be dishonest...??...bhaiya would never choose a wrong guy for me...she finally stated thinking now maan will be convinced, but he was totally shocked and all he could say was...

Adi did WHAT...??

guys I need to tell u all something...BTBD will be ending soon...though I don't know exactly how many parts more, but neither I am getting enough time to update this nor o think on the story line...so with a decent ending I'll finish it in some more chapters. one on one will still go on as there are many stories to unfold😊

so now plzz comment and give ur opinion...n plzz finish this thread so that next part can come up in another thread. I'll open next thread only after this one is finished so do comment😛
