Arnav stared at the number and took a deep breath before he picked up his phone.

Ring Ring Ring Ring.

Khushi stared at her phone not recognizing the number,she decided to pick it up anyway.

"Hello"

"Hey, how are you?"

"Arnav?" asked Khushi immediately recognizing his voice.

"Yeah. How did you know?"

"I have no clue how" said Khushi .

"So how did you get my number?"

"Payal gave it to me, I wanted to talk to you"

"Yea, go ahead"

"Um..uh.. do you..uh"

"Go ahead and say what you want to say, take a deep breath and say it"

"Okay, Do you want to hang out together on Friday, Payal and Akash are going out so do you want to meet up?"

"Not a bad idea, it's weird tagging along on their date with them"

" I agree and I understand how you feel"

"Sounds good and thank you Arnav for this idea, Really nice of you"

"Anytime" said Arnav, I will pick you up around 7pm. Akash and I will come together and then we can split up.

"Great, see you then" said Khushi

"Okay, Bye"

"Bye"

Khushi put disconnected the call with a smile on her face, "He really is a sweetheart"

After Khushi put down the phone she continued shopping at the grocery store. She picked up some chocolate, a package of brownies and a packet of chocolate chips.

"Where is the pancake mix?, I really wanted to make pancakes.

After going up and down a couple of aisles she found the pancake mix, she then proceeded towards checkout. Since she was not looking where she was going she bumped into someone and a couple of things fell to the floor.

"Well, this is great" she said to herself.

"Yes it is"

Hearing the voice Khushi stiffened. She wanted to get up and run but controlled herself.

The guy handed her what she had dropped and stepped closer to her.

"How are you Khushi?"

"Fine" said Khushi forcing herself to look at him, she did not want him to know that he had any effect on her .

"Aren't you going to ask how I am" asked the guy.

"I don't care enough to ask" said Khushi , Now if you would excuse me.

She stepped away from the guy and rushed to the checkout line.

"Hmm. Khushi" said the guy with a smirk

As Khushi moved through the checkout line she kept looking behind her, not looking forward to seeing that guy again.

"I need to remove him from my mind and not let him affect me anymore, I need to do this"

After she left the grocery store she drove home and plastered a smile on her face when her Mom opened the door.

"Bitiya, what's wrong " asked Garima.

"Nothing Mom"

"Something is wrong , I know a fake smile when I see one"

"Nothing is wrong , I just couldn't find the right brand of pancake mix"

She put a hand on her forehead. "But it will have to do" she said as she winked at her Mom.

Garima slapped her shoulder playfully, "Drama queen"

"That's me, Mom" said Khushi laughing

On the outside Khushi was smiling, but on the inside she was falling apart .

After talking to her mom, Khushi went to the kitchen to put the groceries away.

After checking that no one was around she leaned against the refrigerator and tried to compose herself.

It didn't work; she slid down with her back to the refrigerator as silent tears rolled down her face .
