Part 27:

It was post break-fast that Nupur got a minute with Mayank.

He was standing near the window looking out at something but seemed to be lost in his own thoughts. Nupur went up to him, turned him slightly to face her, and hugged him without a word and without him letting him realize what expression she had then - was she happy or sad?

He hugged her back and asked keeping his hand on her head, "What happened, Nupur?"

Nupur didn't say anything at all and kept standing the way she was earlier, hugging him.

Mayank worried a little this time and asked more softly and urgently, "Nupur?"

Nupur said in a resigning but determined tone, "Offo Mayank! You don't expect me to explain everytime I hug you, right?"

Mayank laughed a little and said, "Right! Now that's My Nupur!"

As much as Nupur liked the sound of it, she was equally bugged too. She skipped her discontent some more. She was just trying to absorb the feeling that had once been like oxygen for her, that Mayank would be right beside her no matter what. But something kept on bugging her. She dodged her queries and tried to feel secure in his promising embrace, which always promised her that it was just him she requires to put all decisions, feelings, virtues in the right place in life.

She sighed at the way her thoughts felt insecure when she was slowly kissed on her ears that gradually turned passionate, not to her surprise though. It was a wonderful feeling to be loved by Mayank again. She soaked in his love some more turning passionate herself. Well, they had always been passionate about each other and their long fight just had to end this way but not yet. As soon as Nupur realized something, she pulled away and just stared at him with questions in her eyes, baffling Mayank as well as embarrassing him at the same time due to the look in her eyes.

Her eyes were suddenly moist. He hated to see her that way. He had believed for some reason that he wouldn't be made to see such an expression on her face after the worst ending last night. But, cruel as life was, he had to see it yet again. Just when she had hugged him the way she had, he was double sure that she had forgiven all that had transpired between them but those questioning red eyes of hers, teased his confidence yet again.

He moved his hand slowly to reach her face and held it ever so softly in his hands. Nupur just kept looking at him the way she did.

Nupur wasn't sure why she wasn't able to take it anymore but she wasn't. Mayank always made her feel secure, had her complete confidence in him, his gestures were always so obviously caring but yet, in the last year that passed, she was made to wonder millions of times if he would ever return back to her, if she was important enough for him that he may forget on of her mis-doings, if he would really be there with her forever after, if she knew him completely enough…she needed an answer from him and looked at him with all of those clouding her eyes suddenly. She knew he didn't understand what she was going through and probably it was nothing too, but she couldn't help it now.

As he held her face in his hand, she felt the same heart-race feeling in her heart that she knew as a very familiar feeling. But this once, it ended in a few tears spilling off her eyes.

Mayank knew this was his Nupur, he actually must have seen this coming! She had this habit of taking things easy till the very end, though she got a little too hyper at times, but she still took things easy until it all ended. Once it all ended, she just had to speak her mind, her fears. She always spoke her heart out before closing on a bad chapter in her life, whatever the concern was. He had observed it long ago and he must have anticipated it here too.

He was rather opposite to her in this case too. He more so believed in 'forgive & forget' once all was said and done for good.

He cleared off every tear that spilled from her eyes, before they refreshed and he repeated his act again.

What Nupur said just then made Mayank feel alienating from her a little,"Mayank, is there anything else that I don't know….I mean a big part of your life like this one was?"

It pierced Mayank and Nupur's heart the same.

Mayank felt as if he had lost somehow in making her feel the way she used to before. Though he was sure that she knew him enough to know the answer herself but in the recent turn of events, he had not made her let strengthen that answer somehow.

He closed in and stayed very close, holding her, looking into her and holding her with his special homely touch, he said, "NOTHING at all. Not anything that I know about myself!"

Nupur looked satisfied and lost at the same time, but she believed in him, as she always did. Probably she was thinking too much as she always did again. It was always the best option to trust him and his words, she knew it! She never believed in blind-faith over anyone but in Mayank's case, she somehow felt herself having that in him and the best part was that she hadn't yet failed in it, if she looked closely at the recent past, not even this time had she failed when trusting him.

He was one of a kind; she could have fallen in love with him in a million ways. She could have easily scolded herself for turning her thoughts upside down for him everytime when he spoke with that believable eyes of his, but then she ended up kissing his cheeks for giving her this ever-confused-phase back to her in life. Life was after all, all about loving the person you snap at at every other moment.

If Nupur would have thrown more tantrums and more disappointment, he wouldn't have complaint still but he knew that it wasn't coming. This was the best thing about her. She argued but believed him, showed discontent right from her heart but cleared it off in an instant when he genuinely urged her to do so, moved away from him only to get closer later. Not loving her was never an option with him, not even when he had stupidly once thought that he could. She hadn't a clue how much he loved being a part of her shady reactions, but she always came back to him when he wanted to. His tinge of guilt for behaving rude to her inflated just for a moment before he considered handling things those were important right now.

He smiled at her and touched her forhead with his.

Nupur just murmmered as if a regular practice with her, just letting the words out of her heart, just in case he needed to know, "Never do that to me again Mayank. I almost felt like a stranger in your life for a long brief period of time. It's supposed to be our life right?" and without letting him answer, she continued, "I know I was at fault too and I am sorry. You know, next time you doubt something, anything, please come back to me and clear it all…probably even brain-wash me if I am upto no good or if I am immature…you know I can be that, don't you? ….but please never take me out of the loop in your life….I mean, I feel meaningless even when I sometimes know I am right and your are wrong…and things aren't so worthwhile then, you know….I mean, I also know I can decide things on y own and take care of things too sometimes, but I don't want to….without you…you are THAT important, do you realize?...and then for some other times, I really am immature….and…"

She kept blabbering making Mayank laugh at her confusing statements, the way she said she can take care of it all but she couldn't without him and that she was mature enough to decide but immature still, she would never change, he cherished that fact while also understanding the underlying meaning of her talks. Keeping his finger on her lips, he said, "Our life it is and will always be! There is no life of mine that I could term as 'life' without you! Even if I don't say, you are always THAT important to me, Nupur, Always…"

Nupur, now relaxed, asked crossing her arms, moving away, "Really? So why wasn't I important to share all that before yesterday?"

Mayank resigned and said reluctantly, "Nupur, however I lay down every card of mine in front of you, somethings and feelings are easy to surpass, not speak, not share…you know what I mean?...I thought this could have been on of those things but then I couldn't handle it well by myself I guess…"he still looked disappointed with himself.

This time Nupur reached out for his hand and said extremely maturely, not surprising him with her sudden maturity, he knew she could easily be that,"May be you are right…we need not share every single thought that comes across our mind…certainly not every tiny winy bit…but just in case, its important and is affecting you in a bad way….or anything like it….you know right that I am here to share every weak moment of your life just like I look for you when I am in one? The world is awaiting all the goodness in you….I can do with the bad stuff that comes along with the good part too…."

As he looked intently in her eyes, she knew from his eyes that her world can't be lost so easily, he did everything in his might to be 'her husband' as much as she wanted him to, she couldn't push it further.

Silently, without any word, the smile that they exchanged was a reflex of the talk that their eyes just had.

Their hands acted on their own accord when those found each other and interwined themselves around each other and continued their left over passionate gestures in store for each other.
