okkk...sooo soo finally..the real Mayur are back..with the same type of convo they should have
@all I hope I made a bigger update this time😆
Part 25:
Mayank asked what he supposed should be the base for their conversation now, "Nupur, why did you do what you did?"
Nupur didn't understand what he was talking about, well precisely what answer did he expect from her, she nodded her head and asked "What? What did I do?"
Mayank asked more clearly, "I am asking about your decision of sending Varun off"
Nupur narrowed her eyes and moving away a little to face him properly she she said rashly, "Mayank I have explained that to you zillions of times, not that I ever felt that you have heard that clearly even once"
Mayank said matter-of-factly, "Probably yes. May be I couldn't ever listen to it completely because I never understood it really" The way he said that so straight-forwardly and in a low voice that if Nupur hadn't known her own story, she would have almost believed his reasonings.
Nupur breathed long trying to calm herself down and said, "See this is what you did then and this is how you want to do now. Sorry I bothered trying to see this time differently" She said this and sat there for a second thinking if she should calm herself really? However she tried, she feared approaching him again but wasn't he the one always whom she seeked to approach too? She saw herself getting up hesitantly and moving away and also saw Mayank holding her back by her hand and asked, "Where are you going?"
Nupur said without looking back, "I don't know!"
Mayank asked shocked a little at her reaction, he didn't have more strength in him to fight with her now, but he also wanted to be sure that he really did understand her point of view this time because that had been like creating a big wall in his mind and heart towards her and it had become pretty huge in all this while, "I thought you wanted to talk out everything?"
Nupur took her hand off his grip and said turning towards him, "I thought the same but I don't know if you really will want to understand it this time too?"
Mayank's tone softened suddenly, "I will want to!"
Nupur looked at him judgingly and sitting down beside him and started speaking about those two months that had made her do what she had decided on.
As she completed saying that she looked at him as if trying to see if he understood her at all since he had been listening to her all silent and hadn't even tried to judge her in between.
All Mayank could come up with was, "Nupur, I had never earlier questioned you as a mother but what made me to all this was you such a strict step towards Varun. Do you think sending him away was the only solution? I mean, couldn't you think of anything else at all?"
Nupur replied looking in his eyes, almost guilty"I don't know Mayank. I don't know if this was the only solution or not. I had tried other ways too…I had tried talking, strictness, ignorance, friendliness…I don't know Mayank really if this was the right thing to do…and I was waiting…waiting for you to tell me if I am doing the right thing or not….waiting to put things right where they are supposed to be as you always managed to do...waiting for you to teach me if I had gone wrong in taking care of our child like you had thought me the other times...and I kept waiting for the Mayank I was waiting for…"
She felt tears trickle down her cheeks as she had finally let all that she contained, out to him. She had really been waiting Mayank, but he never really came back to her, rather he kept drifting apart for a reason she couldn't even understand. She really wanted to tell him that too, but over-comed by all her present emotions, she couldn't say those last words to him.
Mayank hugged her and rubbed her back while he realized what he had got a hint of earlier this night, he had punished her for all the wrong reasons that he could now think of and had almost forgotten that she was his Nupur still, the very same one who had been so very happy when Varun was born, the same one who had, at Varun's age of being a toddler, asked him so many times if she was being a good mother as she was supposed to be and was taking enough care of Varun since Mayank always said that she never knew how to take care of her ownself; she was the same Nupur still, wasn't she?
May be they could have managed Varun together if he was there, may be Varun would have listened to him then as he always did and may be Nupur's decision was a little hasty but then her intentions were never what Mayank had thought they must be from so long.
Mayank heard a vulnerable Nupur pouring her heart out when she sobbed and questioned him hoarsely, "How dare you not come back to me Mayank?!!"
Mayank pulled out of the hug and holding her tear stained face in his hand he said, meaning it, "Nupur what's done is done"
Nupur couldn't help cutting him in a cracking and in an unevenly tone, "Really?"
Mayank didn't affirm her words but rather said, "But now we wouldn't let him go away from Us, right?"
Nupur nodded her head vigorously.
Nupur wondered for a moment before she asked, "Mayank do you think I was punishing him or something? I mean is the idea of sending him to a boarding school so wrong? "
Mayank knew why she must question so. He stayed silent for a while when Nupur asked him, "Mayank even you went to such a school right?"
Mayank gave a smile before he said, "I now don't think you were doing that Nupur. Perhaps it isn't so wrong ….." he took a pause before continuing, "Nupur you remember asking me earlier so many times about why I behaved so rudely with my parents, before you yourself understood why I did so?"
Nupur was completely clueless where did this come from, yet she answered him, "Yes. They aren't too much into family and things and liked to live on their own. I also remember asking you how were you so different from them and so family oriented….but where does this come from now?"
Mayank looked at her and then looking away he said, "I sometimes feared you may put 2 and 2 together…"and smiled as he said something emotionally teasing himself.
Nupur furrowed her eye-brows and said following his lead, "OMG Mayank, you didn't go to the boarding school at your own will?" She felt worse as she realized that it was him who felt all alone, on his own, starting to dislike his parents and all that he had said Varun may go through. Mayank had earlier just shared all the good times that he had shared there or in general, in life. He hardly ever mentioned feeling lonely or getting affected by his parents' behavior, though Nupur knew however he tried to stay indifferent, he surely was affected bearing that expression of solid rock on his face whenever he tried to dissolve it into a smile in front of her.
She chided herself for overlooking it all for so long. And had she made Varun go through all that too, really?
She looked at Mayank feeling bad and said, "But you never told me!"
Mayank simply answered, "What was there to say?"
Nupur tried to assimilate things and said suddenly, "But I had seen your behavior change once Dad had started looking after and take care of Varun, volunteering on his own when I had to resume work around the time when he turned 1…I thought the distance between you'll was decreasing. Wasn't it Mayank even then?"
Mayank smiled sarcastically and said, "It WAS Nupur. Infact it had by a considerable amount. But some grudges are deeply rooted and it was not as if they both wanted to put their son's wishes over and above all even then. May be he was doing it for his own guilt. I don't know Nupur, was I expecting too much?"
His eyes looked red, tired and vulnerable.
He looked into Nupur's eyes, which were seeking for an appropriate answer that would return him his world back to wipe that look off his face but at the same time she couldn't speak anything at all and kept looking in his for a while before she realized him speaking to her about all that he hadn't before when she also realized that he had hid a world of sorrow in him that she never knew about.
She shivered as she listened to his child-ly expectations that he had and weren't ever fulfilled., especially his sad tone and voice had shook her from the inside. She felt she had never known this man, for the time he spoke of all that and also could imagine why he was the man that he had become. She also felt a left out feeling develop in her as how it summed up to her that he never wanted to let her know all that. Why?
She cried before him, for him when she hugged him as if wanting to absorb all those bad memories away from him and said, "Mayank, why didn't you share all this with me before. Why?"
He wasn't going to answer that, she saw in his expressions when she pulled off.
Mayank had already wiped every tear that had managed to excape his strong resolute and he just said something that made Nupur feel for him, "Let that be Nupur. I am just happy that I am never going to do that to my son"
Mayank smiled amidst all that and it was easy for him now that a bid burden seemed to have been lifted off his chest when he had talked to Nupur about all that. More so, those times were actually past for him, now that he had made it clear to Nupur that he wasn't going to let his boy suffer any of that. It was not much easily an ignorable topic than Nupur must have assumed.
When Nupur opened her mouth to speak more, Mayank shushed her up saying, "Nupur please! I'll compose myself and you do too. What's done is done, I don't want to now stretch those grudges anymore"
Nupur couldn't help speaking, "I don't want that either but I would definitely like to tell your parents about how they have hurt you with all the igmorance that they had to offer"
Mayank said resigning, "Nupur I don't want to fight them and don't even want you to do that. Do you understand what I mean?"
Nupur assured, "I won't fight them Mayank. But I'll surely let them know - what's unspoken is not always unaffecting and hidden…I'll speak for you and you leave it to me, I'll.."
Mayank cut her in, "Nupur NO! Nothing you do is ever going to change how much they care for me and please lets leave this unpleasant phase behind and we'll all live happily in ouw own worlds…"
Before Nupur could argue more, there was a knock on the door. Varun was up and was taking Mayank and Nupur's names alternatively to let him in.
They straightened up, trying to put their states in order, trying to put all the sadness away.
Nupur smiled as she opened the door to a worried Varun.
