It is still a hard way for girls in corporate world. I am in IT and only a senior manager. Even in such an easy industry I face so many challenges...I can't imagine what it will be like in a total industrial sector like energy.

At my relative post, I will be going nowhere if I don't talk to my peers while they smoke and drink though I don't do that myself. I will be nowhere if I don't drink tea and take out my all boy teams for lunch, dinners and parties etc. When my male counterparts do it, it is expected from me too. I am lucky to have supportive husband and in-laws. Even then at times it gets uncomfortable and I will have to compromise.

Such is life. Here we have a girl in energy sector where no guy will give her a concession just because she is a girl. Rather she will have to show double the result for gaining same respect. I think that is actually a double standard. I cringe when someone says -"girls get it easy". Fact is "Girls never get it easy". They have to work very hard inside and outside to gain even basic respect.

On top of it she has a kid...I am sure she has learned the hard way...
