Prologue
It was one of those usual boring days when she would accompany her dad. She sat in a corner of the newly built mall, her father had dropped her there asking her to wait till he finishes his work and come back. Sometimes she found this act of accompanying him to finish his work weird but she never questioned his actions. She felt happy staying out for some time rather than listening to the hell her mom would raise in the house.
Coming back to the book in her hand, she felt bored very bored. She carried her phone but forgot the headphones. She looked down into the book again trying to solve this particular block. She loved solving Sudoku and her mom created a riot last week when she purchased this book from the bookshop as it was quite expensive. But she being Geet retorted back, snapping her mom paid for it from her own money.
She was glad to have brought this mini distraction; she thought her endless number of thoughts and quickly filled in the next number in the block. This was the 8th puzzle she was solving in the past 2 hours; glancing at her wrist watch she felt relieved. Her dad was supposed to be here in 10 minutes her happiness seemed no bounds. This mall was hardly crowded infact only few people could be seen all dressed in posh as if they were going to attend Prince William's wedding party.
She hated those smug looks and those weird eyes lingering on her, brushing them aside she stood up and walked towards the restroom before she would head out for home. Carefully wasting 15 minutes in the restroom she realized her dad was not here and top of it he was late by exact 5 minutes. For her time never mattered but during these particular trips time was of essence. Sighing she left the restroom and started roaming around the almost empty mall.
She decided to take the escalator to the 1st floor and head towards the children play area for time pass. It was during this walk she saw a man standing outside a salon who looked somewhere around her dad's age arguing with someone over the phone. It was something not interesting however; she felt some bad vibes in her heart regarding this particular man. She slowed her pace towards him without any reason, holding her phone to her ear pretending to talk she went and stood at the entrance of the salon door with the pretense of reading their services.
It was then she heard some weird noise behind her, upon turning back she saw the man clutching his heart and falling downwards. She quickly held his head and sat down placing the same in her lap. Picking up her phone she dialed 911 and yelled. 'Quick I need an ambulance at the Planet Mall, 1st Floor near Reema's Salon, Andheri West. The patient is having a heart attack and I can't spot anyone near me, nor do I know any of the life saving measures. Come quickly please'. With that she hung up and looked around her to find no one in that area. Slowing with shivering hands she placed his head onto the floor and said 'Don't worry uncle I am here nothing will happen to you, just please keep your eyes open and stay with me till the time help comes'.
She proceeded towards his legs and removed his shoes and the socks off his feet and starting rubbing his feet to keep them warm. Rummaging through her bag she found her water bottle, quickly opening it she started sprinkling the same on the guy. She kept telling again and again 'stay with me nothing will happen. Uncle do you hear me, please I am pleading you to stay with me till help comes, keep your eyes open they will be here any minute'. She kept saying over and over again to keep the stranger alive until help came. Moving between rubbing his legs and sprinkling water to keep him awake, she felt she heard an ambulance coming.
'Don't worry you will be fine they are here, can you hear me?' she kept asking and repeating to avoid him going into the unconsciousness state. 'HELP! HELP!' she yelled at the top of her voice to let them know where she was, 'we are here on the 1st floor please come fast'. Sprinkling more water she repeated for the umpteenth time 'see I told you I will save you they are here, you will get first aid soon, you will survive through this'. The paramedics ran with the stretcher and quickly laid him onto it; giving him the basic CPR help they placed the oxygen mask over his mouth. One of them approached Geet and asked her about what happened exactly, she told them whatever she saw and the events which occurred later on regarding her rubbing his feet and sprinkling water over his face. Thanking her they quickly left with the patient.
Her body still shivering from the shock of seeing a man having heart attack and she treated him. It was a big achievement for her. Gulping down the water from her bottle she rested her back towards the wall trying to normalize her heart beats and her shivering body. 10 minutes later she heard her phone beeping, indicating that her dad had arrived. She collected her stuff, placing them in her bag she started walking slowly towards the escalator holding the rail to prevent from falling down.
Somehow she managed to reach the entrance of the mall and looked around to spot her father; she saw him and walked towards the car. She was still puffing and shivering; her dad looked at her and asked as to what happened, she explained in broken language about saving a guy who nearly died having a heart attack. He gave her water, lowered her seat and asked her to take a short nap to stabilize her body and her heart beats. She did as he asked her to do and quickly drifted into sleep.
Little did she know that the moment she would open her eyes trouble will be waiting for her!
