Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai Sept 8, 2025 Episode Discussion Thread
And here we are...do tell me what you think! p.s the "grade five" teacher here, as you will see shortly is actually a true story with my grade five teacher! 😆 anyways, here is the part, cant wait to read your comments!
After what had transpired the night before, one would have expected a more exciting morning, however nothing like that happened. It was casual breakfast for Armaan and Shilpa. They both said their goodbyes to Shilpa's Massi and were off to the bus stop. When they got there, Shilpa couldn't help but smile to herself when thinking about the pace at which things happened. Just yesterday morning she was leaving Sanjeevani forever, leaving Armaan forever so that's she may be able to get past her heartbreak. And now, a mere twenty hours later she was headed right back to try and help Armaan through his own anguish. The very same Armaan, mind you, who melted her heart with every word he spoke and the same Armaan who was madly in love with someone else. Shilpa looked over at him, he didn't say much all morning but shot her a smile here and there.
How could he say anything? Armaan had never let himself be so vulnerable and so bare in front of anyone else but Riddhima. He couldn't look at Shilpa properly after last night he felt if he looked at her she would see right through him. He told her how miserable and torturous his life had become. He had told her that he was hurting and above all he had even admitted that he needed help. Not very normal, he thought. Despite all that there was still a smile on his face, a smile that was not the result of his happiness rather a smile that was there because Shilpa was there. How absolutely amazing she was, he thought to himself time and again. Having her there made being peaceful, calm, and even happy seem like a real possibility.
In silence, they waited for the bus. When it arrived, they got on and took a seat beside each other. Still, little words were exchanged. But of course like any other situation the silence had to be broken. So Armaan spoke, finally.
A: Dr. Keerti jaan lelengi meri…kam se kam 25 phone aa chuke hain…
[He looked over to Shilpa and showed her the phone, she didn't smile or make fun of him rather she just frowned and let put a sigh]
S: aur mera kya? ….meri jaan hi nahin...mujhe toh kacha kha jayengi….kal hi toh resign kiya tha maine aur ab….
Armaan laughed at that. When she said it out loud, the situation did sound a bit ridiculous.
A: toh kisne kaha tha resign karne ke liye?
She didn't answer that, rather just looked at him and he knew that he probably shouldn't go there.
A: okay..sorry…ab yeh socho tum kaho gi kya?
S: pata nahin….joh uss waqt mann mein aaya bol doongi…maan na hi pade ga…
[Armaan could see that Shilpa was actually really worried]
A: mein baat karoon unse? …waise bhi logon ko manana ache se aata hai mujhe
S: really? [The sarcasm in her voice was beyond obvious]
A: really! Dekho na…tumhe bhi toh kuch ghanton mein hi mana liya…
S: ha ha very funny…mujhe nahin lagta Dr. Keerti ke saamne rone se kuch nahin mile ga
A: eh…mein roa nahin tha…bas thoda sa emotional ho gaya tha…it happens
S: haan haan tum jaise sadoo se toh sirf yeh hi expect kiya jaa sakta hai…
He smiled at her, a smile that warmed her heart. She was extremely satisfied with the fact that she could do that for him. His face was just built to smile, she thought, sadness didn't suit him. That was pretty much the mood for the rest of the ride back to Mumbai, chatting, joking and laughing. Both Shilpa and Armaan were extremely careful and avoided any such topic that could potentially be upsetting. The ease and cheerfulness of the conversation was a welcome change, for both of them. They were simply two friends enjoying a road trip. It was perfect.
When they got there it was decided that Armaan would head straight to Sanjeevani and Shilpa would meet him there a little later. Boy was she glad that she still had her rented place for the rest of the month. No matter how hard he insisted she refused to let him accompany her and made her way home all alone. She needed that time to recuperate and gather her thoughts. She had decided to come back and help Armaan but the question that kept pestering her was how exactly was she going to do that?
Shilpa hadn't thought this through very much, it was quite an impulsive decision actually. Saying that she would help Armaan was one thing but actually doing it would be quite a task. Just then a thought flashed across her mind and in an instant Shilpa's heartbeat grew faster. She remembered what Riddhima had said to her, "Armaan ko bhool na bahut mushkil hai". Oh no, how on earth would Riddhima react when Shilpa returned, not only that how would she react when she realized that Armaan had gone to get her back? At least before all of this the feelings were unsaid, but now that Riddhima knew what Shilpa felt for Armaan, would it even be possible to move past that. What would happen if Riddhima asked Shilpa about Armaan? As she made her way up the stairs, and got ready to leave for Sanjeevani, Shilpa had imagined ten million different things that Riddhima would say to her and had thought of many more questions she may have.
On the other side, Armaan finally pulled into Sanjeevani. Feeling more light hearted than usual, feeling like he could actually survive the day without breaking down. It felt good. It wasn't happiness though what he really was calm. The storm of emotions that raged on inside his heart for the past few months finally seemed to be quietening down a bit. Who knew that the old saying was actually true, "dukh baant ne se kam ho jaata hai". Just knowing that Shilpa was there to catch him if he fell made his eyes light up. Who would have thought that the same Shilpa who had gotten him in jail once before would be the one and only person he would look to in his time of despair. She made him believe that he could get past all this, and more than that she had made him realize that the he alone was responsible for his misery. However, as soon as he stepped foot in the locker room all those thoughts came to an abrupt halt, and the storm seemed to be fiery once again.
R: kahaan the tum?
Riddhima looked to Armaan, waiting for an answer. Why would she do this, he thought. Why did she insist on tugging on his heart strings time and again? When she knew the effect that she had on him, why did she put him through this all over again?
R: Armaan…kahaan the tum? Tumhe pata hai mujhe kitni fikar ho rahi thi tumhari?
There was a moment of silence, in which all he did was look at her. She did care, he thought. She had been looking for him, just the way he had wanted.
A: fikar? Meri?...kyon basket?
Oh no, he did it again. He succumbed to the same feeling all over again. That same desperation and that same old futile hope arose once more. He knew what he wanted to hear but he also knew that she would never say it. And going by the fact that she had lowered her eyes, she probably wasn't going to say anything at all. His heart sank it was like losing her all over again. He stood there, waiting for a reply and she stood there trying to come up with one. The silence was devastating and the tension combustible.
Sid: Hey guys!
Thank the dear lord Armaan thought. He had never been so glad to see Sid, he quickly managed a smile towards Sid and headed straight for his locker, he didn't want to have to look at Riddhima or Sid right now.
Sid: kahaan tha yaar?
When Sid asked the question, for some odd reason there was a bit of hesitation on Armaan's part. He didn't really know why, he had gone to bring back a friend. He had gone, to be quite honest, for himself. To go and get that help he needed and deserved. Then why didn't he want to just say it? He shifted his eyes from Sid to Riddhima. She was smiling at Sid and not even looking at Armaan, how could she do that? How could she pretend that the intense moments before he came didn't happen? How could it be so easy for her?
Sid: kya hua? Kuch toh bol….
A: Shilpa ko waapis laane…
The look on Sid and Riddhima's face was identical, utter shock. They just looked at him, as if they were waiting for an explanation. He, however, didn't really feel like giving them one. So he turned away and began to fiddle with the stuff in his locker, hoping that they would leave. Obviously that wasn't going to happen.
Sid: toh woh kahaan yaar
A: apne ghar…aa rahi hogi
Sid: waapis kab aaye?
A: bas aaj subah
Sid: wah…matlab ek hi din mein…
R: thak gaye?
Armaan stopped fiddling he couldn't help but turn and look at Riddhima. There was so much symbolism in that question. It could mean so many different things. Was she asking him whether he was tired of being so madly and unbearably deeply in love with her? Did she imply that he was tired of being alone? Was she asking whether he was tired of being miserable? Well, even if that wasn't her intention, he had an answer. Eyes locked with hers, he spoke, without a shiver in his voice.
A: bahut…
Looking at Riddhima he knew what she was thinking. And she actually looked disturbed by it. He could feel that all Riddhima wanted him to do was to say something that would disprove all her thoughts. Maybe Sid too had sensed the tension, and intensity of that moment and that is probably why he tried his best to ease the situation.
Sid: obviously thak gaye ho ge…itni saari travelling…tu fikar mat kar yaar aaj kuh khaas kaam nahin hai…relax kar
A: …thanks
Sid: ummm Riddhima…chalien…
Riddhima didn't hesitate, not one bit. So easily she looked away from Armaan and was ready to leave. Once again he had to watch Riddhima turn her back on him and walk out the door, until he couldn't see her anymore. Just like that he was back to ground zero. All those realizations and revelations of the past twenty hours seemed to have come back to haunt him. The frustration was unbearable, he could do nothing else but kick the bench in front of him to release that anguish.
S: Armaan!
Shilpa was standing at the door, shocked. She knew what this was about she could see it on his face. He had just talked to Riddhima. She looked at him, hoping that by seeing her he would remember all that he had said to her the night before. He would remember what she had said to him and realize that he could fix it. Her strategy seemed to be working he took a deep breath, fixed his hair, put the bench back in its place and looked to her with a smile on his face. A smile that was obviously an act, but still better than the Armaan of two minutes ago, she thought.
A: itne der kaise lag gayi?
[Shilpa decided that the best thing to do would be to play along with Armaan's "I'm fine" act, she started to walk towards her own locker and spoke]
S: Dr. Keerti se baat karne gayi thi
A: aur?
It turned out that it was actually hard for Shilpa to have a normal conversation with him right now when she could sense the fire that raging inside of him. She tried her best to look away by paying attention to the things in her locker. He, however, seemed to be quite alright with all of this and walked up to stand right beside her.
A: aur?
[She looked at him, he was pretty much begging her to help him take his mind off of what was going on inside, and she did just that]
S: do hafte rectal exams or ek mahina night duty
A: ouch…..
S: I know…chalo kam se kam hospital se nikaalaa toh nahin….okay toh duties shuru karien?
[He smiled at her]
A: yeah…
Both Armaan and Shilpa grabbed their lab coats and were about to leave but Shilpa didn't seem too convinced by the smiling Armaan. If she had come back to help Armaan, then she would do it properly. Unless and until he confronted his own feelings and learned to deal with them properly he would never be able to get rid of them. This path of self-destruction had to stop and Shilpa realized that only she could be the one to do it.
S: Armaan…
A: haan…
S: tumse dard nahin chuapaya jaata…
Armaan stopped walking, and looked to Shilpa. How could she read him so well?
S: kya hua?
A: usse meri fikar hai…lekin…
Shilpa let out a sigh. That flicker of hope, she knew that feeling so very well. She felt it quite often with Armaan, he would say or do something that would make her believe that he too was in love with her only to see him do something the very next minute that implied the exact opposite. She understood what a crushing blow that was.
A: har baar…Shilpa har baar…usse dekhti hi mein…..har ek ek cheez ko dekh kar uski yaad aati hai, toh phir main kaise iss dard ko kam karoon…
Just then she remembered something. Something very old, a tactic that her grade five teacher used to use whenever a student was upset, it worked then maybe it'll work now. It did seem a bit childish but it was all she could think of at that moment, he needed to see that it was possible to overcome these feelings.
S: tumhe sabse zaada uski yaad kahaan aati hai?
A: kya?
S: jawab do…
A: pata nahin…har jaga, har pal
Hearing all of this was so painful for Shilpa, but seeing Armaan so deeply hurt was absolutely unbearable.
S: Armaan…sabse zaada…
[Armaan looked at Shilpa, and after about a minute he realized that she knew he did have an answer, there was no point in hiding all this from Shilpa]
A: fire escape…
[Shilpa smiled, and shook her head a little, as if to say "tum pagal ho" to Armaan.]
S: chalo..
A: kahaan?
S: tumhi ne toh kaha….fire escape
A: kya?
S: haan…chalo
Armaan could not understand where this was going, he couldn't comprehend what she intended to do and neither could he understand why. He merely looked at her waiting for her to elaborate. She wasn't really interested in talking any more. She walked up to him and took a hold of his arm.
S: CHALO!
-Cheers
