A Maaneet Tale

Chapter 5

I paced up and down.

What was wrong with Geet? Why did she faint?

On top of that, Sameera's smirky face haunted me in my mind. Did she have something to do with this?

I felt like I had been holding my breath for a year. I needed somebody to tell me that Geet was alright. She was fine. Maybe it was the hot weather that made her faint? Maybe...

I kept thinking of 'Maybe's' in my mind when a familar voice interrupted my thoughts. I turned around and saw the face that had been haunting my mind.

Sameera.

But this time, she had a worried look on her face.

Sameera: "Maan! Is Geet okay? What's wrong with her? Is she fine?" she asked frantically

"I don't know" I mumbled in a low voice

Sameera: "Maan, you know I am always here for you. Look at your tired face..." she said and cupped my cheek. I slapped her hand off my face. This was what she was going to do? Seduce me when the person I loved...

Okay, fakely loved.

Was in danger?

"Look Sameera, please don't waste your seducing plans on me. I used to be innocent, and stupid but now... I am Maan Singh Khurana do you HEAR me Sameera?! Keep your hands off me. I love a woman called Geet Handa. Get that into your thick head" I yelled and glared at her. I felt the anger erupt inside me like a volcano. If only I wasn't at a hospital, I would give her a big slap.

She stepped backwards in pain as I threw the words at her. I didn't care and her painful expression wasn't affecting me anymore. She should rot in hell.

"You know what, Sameera? I don't need you here with me. You can go. Actually, just GO" I shouted at her and turned my back away from her. I needed to breathe.

I heard the heels of her shoes click clock slowly, they turned faster and soon, I couldn't hear them anymore. I breathed a sigh of relief but it was cut short when my stupid headache started to throb even louder, and faster.

It was about 10 minutes later the doctor asked for my name, Mr Khurana. I immediately stood up, hoping for some good news.

Doctor: "She consumed poison" he said in a tone all doctors used when they gave bad news.

"Poison" I whispered as I looked at Geet lying pale, and unconcious on the bed from the small circle window.

Doctor: "She had drank to much of it and it spread through her body. However, we managed to get all of it out. She is now safe and you are free to go and meet her" he said and excused himself.

Did Geet hate herself so much that she decided to consume poison and kill herself? What is the meaning of this? I decided to give her a long lecture when she was concious.

I pulled the handle of the door down and it clicked open. I closed it as quietly as possible behind me and tip toed up to her bed. I touched her hand and I saw her eyes slowly flutter open.

"You decided to commit SUICIDE?!" I yelled at her. I saw her wince and I decided that the best thing to do was tone by voice down a little. She was weak.

"Why?" I said softer, but still shouting at her.

Geet: "Suicide? Why would I commit sui --"

"The doctor said you consumed a lot of poision. Geet, you could have... Died" I whispered the last part as she looked at me in shock.

Geet: "Sir, agar mujhe marna hi ta to me bohot pehle karchuke huti. Jab mere mummy aur papa aag mein marchuke teh" she said and looked away from me.

I suddenly felt myself soften as I took in her words.

Geet: "I would have died when I was deceived Sir. But no. I decided to live. You don't know what's been happening in my life Sir. If you heard about my past, you would have decided to commit suicide as well. But Sir, I decided to be brave. I did not consume poison" she ended firmly and looked straight ahead.

"Right" I mumbled in a low voice.

She said nothing.

"Did you... drink or eat anything?" I asked, holding my breath. I wanted her to say no. Maybe the doctor got the wrong theory. Maybe she just... fainted.

Geet: "I... I can't remember. Wait... I drank water. Adi Sir brang it to me" she said holding her head, trying to remember.

"Water. Adi" I whispered the two words as I straightened myself. I fished for my phone in my pocket and dialed his number.

He picked it up.

Adi: "S-s-sir" he said

"Adi, did you give Geet water to drink?" I asked my usual angry voice

Adi: "Y-y-yes sir. Kyu sir? Is e-e-everying alright, S-s-sir?" he stuttered

"No nothing is alright! Geet was POISONED and you are the cause of it all! You put poison in her water didn't you? DIDN'T YOU ADI? Come on Adi, admit it!" I shouted at the phone. I felt my blood boil.

Adi: "P-p-p-p-p-p-oisoned?!" he exclaimed

"Yes... POISONED" I spat out the last word. Why was he acting so innocent now?

"S-s-sameera ma'am gave me the water to give it to Geet Ji. S-she said that it was quite hot today so Geet Ji would need w-w-water. I sent a jug and g-glass to her Cabin, Sir" he explained

Sameera. It all made sense. That smirky face. She was watching Geet faint. She wanted her to die, so she could seduce me. I gritted my teeth in anger.

Suddenly, I felt sorry for Adi. I shouldn't have yelled at him like that.

"Oh. Right okay Adi. Thanks" I said in a much calmer, softer tone without saying 'sorry'. Maan Singh Khurana never said sorry, no matter what.

I put my phone back in my pocket and looked at Geet.

"It was... Sameera" I said saying the name through gritted teeth. I had to fire her out of my office. But then I remembered... I remembered what she told me.

=== Flashback ===

"So Maan? You want to fire me from your office, huh?" I said and smirked

Maan: "Yes. You will not be coming to my office from now on" my darling Maan said to me

"What would you do if... something happened to your darling Geet?" I asked and blew on my recently manicured nails.

I looked up from my nails to see his reaction. It was an expression of horror. Just what I had expected...

"If you fire me then... Consider your Geet DEAD" I snarled at the last word, hoping it made it sound spooky.

Maan: "NO! I... Okay fine" he said and sighed.

I smirked.

=== Present ===

Sameera: "Calm down, Maan! That was just a warning! It wasn't even strong poison. Even if she consumed 100 gallons of the poison she wouldn't have died. It's like water with a hint of chilly Take a chill pill, babe" she said and giggled at me.

I felt anger go through my veins and boil my blood. It was easy for her to say. She didn't know what was going through me.

Sameera: "Anyway, that's a warning. You won't fire me now will you, honey?" she cooed and trailed her finger down my chest.

I didn't feel even the slightest bit aroused.

I felt angry.

I grabbed her hand and twisted it, she squealed in pain as she tried to pry my fingers open from my grip. I twisted it even more, and I heard something crack. I smiled in satisfaction.

"Want me to twist it more?" I said through gritted teeth

"Maybe you should feel the pain I'm feeling, hmm?" I smirked

I suddenly let go of her wrist.

"I'm so sorry! Did that hurt?" I faked being shocked

"Want me to show you what you do?" I cooed and pinned her against the wall. I trailed my finger down her other bare arm and held her wrist. I twisted her other wrist, feeling content when I heard her scream in pain again.

"That's what I feel. That's what I FELT when I saw Geet lying in that hospital bed. But this pain is NOTHING compared to the pain I am feeling in my heart" I whispered and then trailed my finger to the left side of her chest. I poked it hard enough for her to gasp in pain again.

"I hate you Sameera. Your nothing to me. Nothing. At. All. And I hope you feel the pain once I leave you stranded in this park in the rain" I said, holding the umbrella that blocked the beating rain.

"The pain you feel after I leave you here, is what I felt when I saw you kissing another man" I said and backed away from her. The rain crashed onto her, making her hair wet. And her clothes cling to her body.

"Have a nice day Sameera" I said and walked away from her. I smirked in content as I heard her crying wails behind me. I looked at her from the corner of my eye and saw her kneel down on the ground, begging for forgiveness.

All I did was chuckle to myself. I got inside my car, and as I drove I saw somebody selling white roses. I got out of the car and stared at them.

I hated roses.

But Geet might like them.

I paid the guy some money for the bouquet of roses and sat back inside the car. I smiled at the roses and put them on the passenger seat.

Geet.

What a beautiful name.

Awww poor adi got shouted at by maan but maan didn't even say sorry cuz his rule is never say sorry
