"Noooo Annie,please Yaar,don't!!", shrieked Geet as her best friend Annie pulled her out into the rain. Geet was extremely happy that day so she stopped protesting and soon both the girls were soaked from head to toe ."Annie,listen..I'm here to tell you something important!!"
"Yeah,Yeah,I can guess this "important news" of yours..it's about Dev,haina??",asked Annie and laughed aloud when she saw Geet blushing on hearing his name.

He was nursing a drink finding solace in the darkness of his room...darkness, was all that was left in his life now..no colors..no music..no laughter!!! He had shut himself out totally after his loss...he had lost them five years ago....five long years...every body has moved ahead in life except him..... the pain ,the memories... still seem to haunt him day and night......

He was broken out of his reverie when he heard Geet's shriek & Annie's laughter.He came to the balcony and looked down at the girls.They were drenched from head to toe and were laughing & enjoying themselves in the rain. He stood there watching her laugh & twirl in the rain ..Her musical laughter filled his ears..He stood there mesmerized ... he couldn't take his eyes off her.She looked ethereal in that white salwar of her's; and for the love of God,when did she grow up into this breathtakingly beautiful woman??His eyes involuntarily scanned her face, drinking in the beauty of her features...Her hazel eyes... so beautiful, so expressive...her cute little nose & her rosy lips..he stared at them absent-mindedly....wondering how soft will they be???..how will they feel against his own??....He came back to his senses with a jolt...he looked away feeling guilty to the core..."Oh God!Forgive me.... What's happening to me?? How can I even think about Mishti like this?.....it's sick..sick.....I've no right to think about anybody else........ I shouldn't be anywhere near her ...Oh No......Oh please, She is only Annie's age..I've been seeing her since childhood..but....but..when did I start noticing her this way??..why I am so attracted to her???.....No..No...No.. this is wrong...this is all wrong!!" he shook his head as though to convince himself ...." No.. I cant lose control like this....not good for me,not good for Mishti either....and... she's engaged to be married..soon!!!"

Geet's father Moninder belonged to an extremely conservative family in Hoshiarpur.He had come to Delhi for higher education & fell in love with the sweet,demure Rano.His family didn't approve of her as she was an orphan.But,Moninder didn't back off & married her.He cut all ties with his family & settled in Delhi.He started working for the Khuranas & soon became the right hand man of Mr.Yash Khurana,MD of Khurana constructions.
The Handas were blessed with a baby girl whom they named Geet.She went to the same school as Annie,Yash's youngest daughter.Little Geet was a bubbly,chirpy and vibrant child,while Annie ,who had lost her mother , was a far more quieter child.Geet always stood by her & even handled the bullies in class when they tried to trouble her best friend. Geet & Annie used to mingle only with Dev Rathod who was a very sweet & nice boy. The trio soon became inseparable friends.
Geet was like part of the Khurana family.Living next door,she visited the Khurana Mansion whenever she felt like.She was a sweet child and was loved by one and all at the mansion.Annie's Dadi,Savithri Devi used to pamper her more than her own grandchildren.
Dev was also a part of these play dates.The Khuranas were happy to notice the changes these little friends brought upon Annie.She was more happy & talkative now.
Geet knew that Annie had an elder brother ,who was 10 years older,but had never met him as he was away in a boarding school in UK. Annie wouldn't stop singing his praises.It seemed that he excelled in his studies and was good in painting & singing as well.So little Geet was very eager to meet Annie's super hero brother.

He was 15 and she was 5,yet she stood there glaring at him,her little nose high up in the air....Maan looked down at the lil' imp standing before him,,,her chubby hands on her hips,her hazel eyes as big as saucers,dimpled cheeks all pink ,two curly pigtails,pouted lips & a frown on her lil' forehead.She was adorable,but he knew that behind that cute face lived the most naughtiest lil' devil ever walked this planet! "No ways,Geet...stop being stubborn..I'm not going to let you ride my new bike...you are too small mishti,you will fall",he tried to pacify her,worried that Dadi will kill him if her lil' pet started bawling her eyes out.

He had come home for vacation,when he met Annie's best friends,Geet & Dev.Though he was happy to notice the change in Annie,her two friends got on his nerves at times.,especially Geet.She tagged behind him all the time,trying to imitate his actions.She being an only child was very amused by the idea of having an older sibling and adored the tall,lanky ,good-looking teenager. For Dev,Maan,with his talents,soon became the ultimate role model.Maan hated this attention he was getting from these two , but was patient & kind to them.He could never resist the cherubic Geet,especially when she started her dramatics like she was doing now. Yash had got him a new bike on his birthday. Lil' Geet immediately took a fancy on the bike & wanted to ride it although she was only one-third it's size.Finally Maan took her for a ride seating her on the front bar.He put his arms around her protectively...Geet enjoyed every moment of the ride.She threw her lil' arms around his neck and gave a wet kiss on his cheek to show her appreciation.

aww... and your way of narrating the past, a 5yr old Geet and Maan's idea about that lil imp.. adorable.. definitely wouldn't mind this past bit..
