each has it's own opinion. i've been in rural areas enough to understand that technically maaaaaaaaaaany girls r raped on their wedding nights. rape by definition is simply sex without permission. well...that men do so many a times. so yes as being a Canadian it might shock u...but as the norms of emerging society goes ,it happens. i'm not saying that's the bst scenario, i'm saying, it happens all the time.
as to maan's strange luv and lust scenario...remember geet found her picture in his belongings, that was just of her face. well it wudn't be just of her face if it was all lust.
maan was very influential and the only type of women he has been with were opportunists so as a result he didn't know better. u asked y he didn't haver any remorse for all the other girls bcoz they must've gotten sumthing out of their onenight stand. geet didn't ask for anything in return and he didn't want anything else from her other than her. it was all along luv but he was swimming in dirty waters to differentiate between mud from flower. it was his first time with pure at heart virgin and that shud shock him and the regret shud make him understand that y on eath wud he give a hoot to how that girl felt unless n untill he cares of her feelings. (i.e definition of luv :))
he nvr raped her whn he got her initially ,even though he cud have. he knew she was out of his league so sadly he was bringing her dignity down so ppl wud let her have him. though this isn't justified but i don't think geet with all her dignity, lifestyle and ego wud ever have accepted maan.
as for sex and scary scenes with rapes n stuff , i think it's just the author's imagination. as the character of maan is more of a robinhood..so he acts like a bad guy and has a heart of gold. geet was just showing him how it feels to drink his own medicine and as long as i remember maan was shocked.
(btw u r too sweet to have commented on all these issues. from u'r analogy..u seem like a person who is probably not married and may not have entered the practical life yet . u seem too masoom to c many differnt kinds of ppl in one society yet) i'm from states and i understand that every society has many hidden issues. all of these things that happen in india also takes place here. the difference is u don't get to read or write about it and that's the risk the author of this ff is taking. going a little blunt with reality 👍🏼
