Chapter Five

Why did I do that? I thought I was going to play hard to get, but now? Armaan, get a hold of yourself, you have to resist her, Armaan thought to himself as he sat in the front seat, while Shilpa drove home. Shilpa couldn't look at him. She couldn't believe what had happened a few minutes ago. It was so awkward in the car, she wanted to start a conversation, but before she could, Armaan blurted out that he wanted to be dropped off home. Shilpa looked at him with wide eyes, and wanted to beg him to stay, but she sighed and took a sharp U-turn& drove away, reluctantly, hoping he'd tell her to turn back, to Armaan's home.

She walked around here and there, and finally sat down, hugging her knees. Where is he ? She let out a sigh and looked at her watch; 12:00 am ; September 5. September 5th ? What's September 5th ? Something is on September 5th ... But what ?

She felt soft footsteps on the sand, and looked behind her. He stood at his place, carrying a red velvet cupcake with a candle. 'Sid ?!? Yeh kya... What is this ?' Riddhima exclaimed. "Happy Birthday Riddhima" Her jaw dropped. She forgot her own birthday. "Sid ? You remembered ?" "Kyun nahi yaad ayega mujhe ? Tum mere best friend ho na..." he smiled his cute smile. "Thank you Sid, really." she gave him a slight hug. "Ab chale ?" Sid asked. Riddhima smiled, and nodded. Minutes before they entered Ridz & Shilps home, Riddhima realized the lights of her whole house were turned off, and she didn't have her keys. "Sid... I think Shilpa is sleeping… I don't have my keys either..how do i .." Sid smirked, "Sleeping, nuh uh." Riddhima raised an eyebrow at him when she saw Sid take out a pair of keys..."Sid , how come-" He took his hand and covered Riddhima's eyes, "Shh" "Sid, what the ?"

The house was dark, and Riddhima felt it. She was nervous and in a flash, the lights turned on and she heard screams, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY !" Riddhima stood in the living room, awestruck, and smiled at all the faces present in the room ; Shilpa, Sue, Naina, Yuvi, and Sid. "Guys… Aw, Thank you so much..." Shilpa came over to her sister and gave her a tight hug, "Happy birthday di!" Shilpa turned teary eyed, and before she could start bawling, Sue cleared the atmosphere. "Okay, so guys, toh aaj raat, school ke bad, hum log bahar jayenge... Ek aur surprise hai, meri taraf se... What say? Riddhima, acha idea hai na ?" Riddhima smiled and nodded. After all their cakes and small talks, everyone left to their homes. Riddhima went to sleep, considering she had to wake up even earlier in the morning to drop off her assignments first thing in the morning.

Shilpa, on the other hand, kept on pacing back and forth in her room, her phone in hand. Should I call him, she thought? Yes, I should... But it's almost two… What if he's sleeping, no, no I shouldn't ... But… Maybe...She continued pacing back and forth, confused. Armaan, in his room, stood in front of his balcony. Seeing a dim light coming from the room, Naina entered. "Bhaiya ? Aap abhi bhi jag rahe ho?" Naina found no response, and decided to let Armaan be, and left the room. Armaan leaned against the wall, looking out his window, his arms flexed. He repeatedly looked at his phone. He picked it up and looked for Shilpa's number, but immediately put down his phone. I shouldn't care. So what, we made out. I don't care. But, she's so beauti- NO, I don't care...

Just then, the phone rang. Shilpa had called. He ignored it. Again, Shilpa called and again he ignored it. Shilpa called for the last time, wishing for some luck, and Armaan decided to pick up. Before Shilpa could even say hello, Armaan's voice hollered, " KYA CHAIYE TUMHE?" With that response, Shilpa replied "KANJOOS KAHI KAI!' and she hung up. "Kya personality hai. Wah wah! Kiss mujhe kartha hai, aur gussa bhi woh hi kartha hai. UFFF." Shilpa turned her lights off and went to bed. She was done for the night. Armaan stared at his phone. "Kanjoos? I am not kanjoos !?! Phone kiya ussne, aur insult bhi kiya usne, ajeeb baat hai." But Armaan thought of what he said... Maybe I shouldn't have yelled at her like that... what will she think of me? Actually, the more she thinks of me., the better. Kuch zyaada hi mazaa ayega. Armaan Malik, tu toh Malik hi hai ! He praised himself and went to sleep.

Chapter 6

Night of Ridz Birthday:

She had to admit it, she was looking hot. She, herself could not take her eyes off of herself. The way her black tight jeans hugged her lower body, and the way the red top caressed her upper portion just made her look so heavenly. She pulled over a black leather jacket, making last minute checks as to whether she had her phone, camera, and everything else. She walked over to Shilpa's room. *knock-knock* "Shilpa, Naina, Sue? Are you done yet?" Sue opened the door, and her mouth hung open. "Holy, oh my... Why on earth are you so beautiful for? " Riddhima raised an eyebrow at Sue. "Haha, chalo, der ho jayga..." Shilpa left her room last, staring at her phone. He won't come.

Riddhima walked over to her car, but when she opened the driver's door, the seat was occupied. "Memsaab, aaj apka din hai." His unkempt, wavy hair shined in the night light, and his smell brought such a fragrance, anyone could have fell head over heels. He stepped out of the car, and showed his beast friend to the passenger seat. Riddhima laughed, " Sid, what is wrong with you?" "Tumhara janamdin hai yaar, kuch toh karne do." "Tumhe jo karna tha, who toh elementary school main kiya...jab tum mere paas akar ek yellow rose diya tha, friendship ke liye." Riddhima looked at Sid, her tone was lower than ever. Sid, for a second, was lost in Riddhima's eyes, but snapped out of the trance and broke out into song, startling Riddhima."Yeh dostiiiii, hum nahiiii, thorengeee!"

At the surprise event, Riddhima gawked. She was brought to a club. They all went inside, the music loud as ever. Riddhima was already enjoying herself, and the rest seemed to be enjoying their selves too. All of them sat down at a nearby table and talked and laughed, everyone except Shilpa, and Sid noticed this. Sid, being as immature as he can be, shouted out to Shilpa. " Kya Shilpa? Why so down? Armaan nahi hai yahaan par, isliye?" Sid and Yuvi laughed together, seeing Shilpa's annoyed face. "Siddhant Modi...shut up." "Sorry baba, just cheering you up." Clearing the tension, everyone decided to go to the dance floor.

Everyone was having the time of their lives, and on top of that, it was Friday night, there were no stops from partying. But they're's always someone who gets drunk, and here it wasn't just someone...it was two.Naina and...Yuvi. The two couldn't even distinguish who they were dancing with. The two were so close. Everyday, they stood so far from each other you could fit a whole house in between them,but now you couldn't even fit a feather in between them. Soon enough, they were tired too tired, they began to get a hangover. Still, they weren't in their senses. It would soon become one of those disasters. Yuvi would come to realize how intimate he had been with Naina while he was dancing, and lose his mind. Sid, Shilpa, and Riddhima saw how drunk they'd become.

Riddhima: We have to take them home.

Shilpa: No... I mean...you stay...you and Sid stay here. I'll take them..

Riddhima: But Shilpa, how can I stay...?

Shilpa gave her sister an assuring look and left to take Yuvi and Naina home.

Riddhima couldn't stay at the dance floor any longer, and sat down at the table. Sid came and sat with her too, just when he thought he caught a glimpse of someone he didn't want to see. "No way !" Riddhima looked at Sid as if he had ten heads. "What No way?" Sid grabbed Riddhima's wrist and rushed out of the club. He sat in the car and floored the gas pedal, not answering any of Riddhima's 1000 questions.

Shilpa stopped at Naina's house, leading both Yuvi and Naina home, figuring it'd be too much on her to take Yuvi home too. Walking her way to the steps of Naina's house, she had an epiphany. Armaan lives here too ! She didn't want to see him at all, but she couldn't leave the two here alone. Who knows where they'd run away to. Armaan came and opened the door at the sound of the repeated doorbell sounds. He was dressed in his black tanktop, and sweats. He was so muscular. Shilpa couldn't stop herself from staring at Armaan's body. It was so marble like. Armaan noticed how Shilpa was staring at him, and smirked. " Kya hua?" he said, glancing at the state of Naina and Yuvi. Shilpa pushed the two into the house, and replied, " They drank, a lot..." Armaan felt that same awkwardness and nodded. "Umm... andaar aao, if you want to..." Shilpa hesitated to stay, remembering their moment at the beach, the car ride home, and the phone call, and decided to stay. Armaan assisted Shilpa upstairs holding Naina and Yuvi. After leaving Yuvi in the guestroom, a sudden squeal came out of her. She tripped over Yuvi's coat and shoes, and hoping she wouldn't fall on her face, she fell right into the arms of Armaan.

"SIDDHANT MODIIII ! Kya kar rahe ho tum? Kaun tha waha par?" Sid still gave no reply to Riddhima, and looked straight ahead at the road. "Sid, main tumse kuch poonch rahi hoon, jawab do mujhe," Riddhima was becoming impatient. She continuously asked questions, but received no answer. "Sid, tell me! Sid who-" but before she could finish her thoughts, Sid finally spoke. "She's back." Riddhima didn't understand what Sid was trying to say. "Kaun..."
