In the woods, Irugarh

Piya looked up at the moon with stars in her eyes as she rested her head in his lap. All seemed more beautiful than a dream with Abhay's comforting hand on her head and her hands holding Abhay's hand like a precious pearl as it rested on her stomach. Abhay was telling her a story and they seemed to be nearing the end of it.

Abhay ( playing with Piya's hair )- And so when the king told the princess that she could not marry the prince of the enemy kingdom, the heartbroken princess shut herself in a tower. That night it rained as though the skies were crying with her.

Piya ( looking at Abhay's fingers and interlocking hers with his )- And then, the prince came to take her away , right?

Abhay ( smiles down at her baby face)- Happily ever afters don't come so easy , my nave lambie Piya.

Piya ( blinks her eyes at him)- You mean he didn't come to take her away from her cruel father.

Abhay ( caressing her cheek )- Her father was not cruel, Piya. He was just a man of rules and he did love his daughter. The daughter fell in love with the wrong man.

Piya ( thoughtfully )- But some fathers are cruel, Abhay. They don't even come to see where their daughters are'whether they are dead or alive. Nothing.

Abhay looks at the faraway sad look in Piya's eyes as her face falls. He puts her hand on her forehead and seems to be calming her.

Abhay (kindly )- You need to release the past, Piya. Forgive your father.Unchain him and unchain yourself. You are still that 11 year old little girl ' you can't be. It is alright if you can't come to love him. But release him from the past , so that you can release yourself.

Piya listens to Abhay , stunned and then , she gets up with a start and looks at Abhay with eyes as big as saucers.

Piya ' You'

Abhay ( nods )- Yes, I know Arnab Dobriyaal is your father , Piya. You didn't tell me but you forgot that we are connected ' I can read your mind , your thoughts. Then, how wouldn't have I known that Arnab uncle is your father or that Misha and Pancchi are your sisters.

Piya ( tears welling up in her eyes )- Why didn't you tell me that' that you knew?

Abhay ( holding her face in his hands )- Because I didn't want to touch what you don't want to talk about. It's a sore wound ' why touch it. But when I see that because of your father , your history , you may never have any faith , any trust in any relationship again, I worry. Don't close yourself to family and bloodlines, Piya. It's a sad dark existence for a closed heart and nobody knows it better than me'. And'.you are just 17. This bitterness will turn into venom as you grow older. I'd hate to see you shut yourself in an ivory tower.

Piya looked at Abhay's concerned and agitated face as her tears wet his warm and kind hands. It was him and only him who saw that little 11 year old weeping kid behind the cheerful and bright Piya. He had known all along what she suffered inside but he had never touched anything that was her personal agony. Who could blame her for depending on Abhay with every drop of her blood? How and why shouldn't she love him with every breath of her life? He was her friend, philosopher , guide . Her soulmate. Her other half that had been missing until she met him. He was the only reason that kept her alive. He was her soul drug and she didn't even think that they both were two different people. They were ONE.

Abhay ( clicks her fingers in her face to break her gaze )- Piya? You need to stop looking at me like that. Are you listening to me?

Piya ( nods )- I have been listening to you and looking at you since the beginning of time'.( a bittersweet smile )'.i cannot just get up and forgive Arnab uncle for everything, Abhay. But for you'. Just for your sake, I promise that I shall hold no bitterness against him. I will' ( takes a deep breath)' release him.

Abhay looks at Piya pensively and pulls her gently into his arms , making her rest her head on his chest and patting her hair as he kisses her forehead. Piya holds his hand and keeps it under her chin like a baby.

Abhay (softly) - The hurt will stop, Piya. It will. Have faith in the strength of your heart. If you give it a chance, it can overcome anything and heal itself. Just let all the bitterness go. Let it go.

Piya nods and closes her eyes , hugging Abhay.

Piya ( her eyes closed and her face pensive )- And what happened to the princess?

Abhay ( resting his cheek on her head )- She kept waiting for the prince to come.

Piya ( opens her eyes and sits straight )- And did he come?

Abhay ( shrugs his shoulders )- I don't know.

Piya ( puzzled )- You don't know? But it is your story, Abhay!

Abhay ( grins )- Exactly! When I decide the end , I will tell you!

Piya gets irritated and punching Abhay in the chest ,she stands up on her feet with her hands on her hips.

Piya ( seems to have become emotionally attached to the story )- Abhay Raichand! Stop getting smart with me and finish the story! Or else' or else'

Abhay ( standing up and grinning at her )- Or else what , sugar?

Piya ( snootily )- I will DUMP you right here , right now!

Abhay ( pretends being heartbroken )- You are breaking up with me?

Piya ( retorts )- Yes!

Abhay ( puts his arms around her neck like a loop and gives her a tilted gaze that always makes her go weak in the knees )- Piya Jaiswal. There is no way you are dumping Abhay Raichand. I may still think of dumping you but you cannot dump me'( clucks his tongue)'.Piya Jaiswal and Abhay Raichand are like FOREVER. Right?

Piya ( puts her forefinger on his gorgeous nose and pushes him away)- Piya Jaiswal can dump Abhay Raichand '.like this '. DUMPED DUMPED DUMPED! See, its so easy!

Piya turns on her heels and lifts her foot to walk back to guesthouse , when Abhay puts his hands on her hips and pulls her back with a seductive force that actually makes her heart skip a beat. As soon as her body hits Abhay's tall masculine and cinnamon balsam fragranced body , all her attitude and feistiness flies away faster than birds.

Piya( her breath caught in her throat )- Abhay'.

Abhay locks her in his arms and puts his lips and nose to her ear, his insanely attractive breath of a vampire totally fusing out Piya's brains and her senses.

Abhay ( in her ear while he buries his face in her hair )- Repeat what you said. Just now.

Piya ( holding his hands on her waist and pressing them hard )- Piya Jaiswal can dump Abhay Raichand.

Abhay holds her tighter and kisses her ear, making her clench her fists tight and her breathing getting loud enough to be in sync with her pounding heartbeats. He moves her hair aside and caressing her cheek asks her again.

Abhay ( getting all hot and heavy with her )- Can you still dump me?

Piya ( her eyes closed and her voice as quivering as a bird's on a winter night )- I-I can. You should' ( gulps )' you should stop this, Abhay'please.

Abhay looks at her closed-eyed blushing and coloured face. A devilishly naughty half smile makes his dimples look hotter than ever as the ice blue eyes melt at Piya's naivete and her innocent beauty. Abhay puts his chin on her shoulder and runs a finger over the neckline of her dress and he can almost trace the graph of her heartbeats as he makes her skin blush with his touch. Piya just gives in helplessly , her body giving up against his.

Abhay kisses her on her neck and he can feel Piya's whole body shiver when he does that.

Abhay ( his lips against her neck )- Stop? What should I stop?

Piya can no longer restrain herself and that too when the man she loves and obsesses over beyond the definition of insanity is next to her skin with this kind of heat. She lets go of her breath and turning around , she pulls Abhay down by his collar and kisses him passionately on his lips , locking his neck in her arms. Abhay is not shocked ' he knew this would happen and that is what he had pushed her towards. He kisses her back , returning the passion and embracing her to the extent of suffocating her. Piya , finally , disengages her mouth from his , all breathless and flushed pink , still holding his face with her hands , her eyes closed and her nose on his. Abhay opens his ice blue eyes and looks at Piya's face that looks so beautiful when brightened by the fire that she feels inside for him. He loosens his grip over her and gently puts his hand on her chest to normalize her heartbeat and settle her. He moves Piya's hair back in place as she slowly opens her eyes and looks at him. Abhay gives her a disarming tilted smile and rubs her cheek fondly with his thumb. He brushes her lips with his and like has become a norm with him , he encircles her neck in his arms as she recovers from the shock of what she just did to Abhay!

Abhay ( throatily )-Piya Jaiswal can never dump Abhay Raichand.

Piya can't meet Abhay's eyes and she is blushing so hard that the whole forest seems to glow with some kind of bubblegum pink light. She puts away Abhay's arms and turns to go but Abhay grabs her arm. He doesn't pull her back but waits for her to turn around.

Piya ( all shades of pink and still dizzy from the Abhay dose in her mouth )- Abhay, I am not looking back at you! Leave my hand. You seriously make me do all kinds of insane things!

Abhay ( grinning )- Scandalized, teenager? I quite like what I saw. I mean this is a lot sexier than your suicidal tendencies. Phew! I don't even remember the last time I was kissed by a woman like that'.in 1920, maybe?

As soon as Abhay says that , Piya comes back to him like an elastic thread and grabs him by his collar.

Piya ( threateningly )- You don't remember any other woman, Mr.Vampire. If you fantasize about anyone else, I am going to stitch your lips. And I don't think your fangs will be of much help in that case!

Abhay( tapping her lips with his finger )- Possessive , obsessive , aggressive.

Piya ( smiles )- How else do you think I got you? '.the end of the story?

Abhay ( rolls his eyes )- Lets leave it open ended. If the princess' love is real enough'.the prince will come back.

Piya ( her face falls )- Poor princess.

Abhay ( rubs her cheek with his thumb )- Have faith in the strength of the heart, sugar!

Piya's face brightens up.

Abhay ( looks at his wrist watch )- I should get gong now. It will soon be dawn and I have to be inside the Bloodstone Dungeon before the first ray of sunlight'..Sambhav will get you all back to Dehradun safe. So, don't worry, okay? Stay away from Danish and I will see you at college day after.

Piya ( her smile droops )- Why not tomorrow?

Abhay ( nose up in the air )- Because am acting pricey like a certain Miss.Jaiswal.

Piya ( hands on her hips)- Abhay?

Abhay just laughs and hugs her kissing her ear lightly.

Abhay ( whispers in her ear)- I love you.

Piya ( touching his chin)- I love you more!

Abhay ' See you, sugar. Get back to the guesthouse now.

Abhay winks at her and walks away , looking back at her twice or thrice while she stands there , never taking her eyes off him. As Abhay disappears into the horizon, she finds herself raising her hand and waving him goodbye even though he is not looking. The amber stones in the charmed amulet ( the shield) glow on her forearm and Piya feels a shot of pain in her arm. She recoils in pain and realizes that she had been waving Abhay goodbye! Even though he was not looking? Piya looks at her hand in confusion'

Piya ( puzzled )- Why 'didn't I realize that I was bidding Abhay goodbye! And why did the shield glow'. ( looks around )' ohh, maybe there is some danger around. I should get back to the guesthouse immediately as Abhay said'. ( looks fondly at the pathway from which Abhay just went and smiles a smile of love)' I love you, Abhay. Come back soon!

Near the river in the woods, Irugarh.

T was sitting on a rock by the river , her delicate feet in water and her red shoes hanging between her fingers. She was looking at the water looking like a silver spread in the light of the half moon that was right above , lighting her profile like a halogen light. She had excused herself from the bonfire barbecue where everyone had been singing , dancing and joking as the social project was coming to an end. She had felt so cold inside ' almost numbed and there were no feelings and no reactions. She was not happy like them ' infact , she had found all the happiness and glee very irritating , especially Tracker who was hopping all over the place like a pink rabbit. T had an urge to just grab her neck and bite her but T had looked at Sam . Sam sensed that he was being watched and he looked back at her with a warm smile , raising his eyebrows , as though to ask her what was wrong? T had smiled back and shaken her head. No, she couldn't let the evil inside her take over like this and Sambhav somehow had faith in her that she could live the life of a beast without giving in to the dark desires. She couldn't let him down. No. And then, the voice of evil inside had told her that she could not go into Sam's bad books anyway because she had win him for the Bolshva clan. T had felt so frustrated inside- was she genuinely beginning to depend on Sam because he put her at ease or was it the voice of the Majesty and her evil bloodline dictating how she felt and reacted towards Sambhav. T had stepped back into the shadows as she left the happy scene. They all were so happy there. Abhay and Piya , truly in love and emanating so much beauty. A happy-go-lucky Tracker bouncing with life and the innocent love that she had for Angad . And Misha'..oh, yes. Misha really liked Sambhav and did he as well? Maybe they both did like each-other behind all the crazy chemistry. T had read Misha's thoughts and they had been all jumbled up about Sambhav but the intensity had not escaped her. For a moment , the original college bitch queen no longer wanted to be the smug and sexy boy stealer. Infact , T didn't even remember the Veronica Lodge that she had been a month ago. T no longer knew who she was or rather what she was'..she hadn't told this to Sam but yes, she was ready to be dissolved by a vampire slayer. Sambhav could not read her thoughts being a werewolf and it was her little secret.

As T sat thinking about the wars raging within her , her delicate features that look tired and softened with the exit of all the arrogance and bitchitude , seemed to melt in thoughts as her silky brown hair hid her troubled face , dancing to the forest wind. Suddenly, T sensed someone coming and her face looked relieved for a few seconds. She heard footsteps crushing the dry leaves and she didn't have to turn back to look who it was.

T ( calmly )- Sam, I will soon have to start paying you a salary of a bodyguard at this rate. You should have faith in me'.( turns to look at him)'.i can take care of myself. I am fine'.( changes her words)'. I should be fine, actually.

Sambhav , his hands in his pockets and his lean muscular profile looking rather artistic under the white vest and his werewolf tattoo looking like a living being on its own ' he smiles and shakes his head.

Sambhav ( moving her aside)- Shift.

T shifts and Sambhav sits next to her. She is looking at the river , her flying hair making her look like a painting in motion.

Sambhav ' I was just worried if you'd 'you know I mean'.

T ( looks at him)- That am I ripping some poor man or woman's neck and sucking out blood?

Sambhav( honestly )- Yes. You are still a loose bullet'.i mean , you cannot control your animal instincts yet and we saw that happen yesterday.

T ( observing him)- Why do you look out so much for me, Sam? We were never friends 'infact , we hardly knew each-other and now, suddenly , you are my only connection with anything that is even remotely good.

Sambhav ( smiles with the grey of his eyes gleaming )- I am not good. You are not good. We both have long lost the chance to be good' and '( unconsciously putting her hair behind her ear so that he can see her face properly )' and I look out for you because as I have told you before, I find myself in you. The way I was '.scared, hiding , uncontrollable , causing havoc everywhere. I just feel like protecting you. There was no one to do it for me ' so , I want to do it for you.

T looks at his kind handsome face , his eyes shining with genuine affection.

Then , she looks back at the running water.

T ( sadly )- Its people who need protection from us Bolshvas, Sam. And you should not trust you' ( looks at him pointedly)'. I am going to let you down , sooner or later. You know it.

Sambhav takes her hand and cocoons it between both his hands. He looks up at her vulnerable face.

Sambhav ( kindly)- I never said that I trust you, T. You are a Bolshva , Huraan runs in your blood and you no longer have any control over your thoughts or actions. I understand that. All I said was that am going to look after you .Protect you.

T ( looks away)- You shouldn't. Misha is not going to like it, Sam'and don't act ignorant and blind. '( looks at him with her kohled slanting whiskey eyes)' you know that she has feelings for you. You are not much unaffected either. You are drawn to her. Don't deny it.

Sambhav looks at T , taken aback for a few seconds and then, looks down at her slim hand in his strong square ones.

Sambhav ( trying to take it lightly)- You vampires should be sued for reading minds.

T( smiles )- Whatever. But it is true and there is no point in lying to me, Sam.

Sambhav ( takes a deep breath)- Can we please not talk about it, Tanz? Misha gives me headaches.

T ( playfully taps the back of his head )- Or heartaches? I think the two of you should talk.

Sambhav ( blinks his eyes at her)- Whoa! Now, that's something. You hated Misha with all your guts a few weeks ago. And now'.

T( shrugs her shoulders )- What's the point in hating her and for what? After all, now, I know what she always said about me was true. Heartless, selfish , evil. But its not about her and me. I am talking about you and her.

Sambhav ( shrugs his shoulders just like T)- There is no Misha and me, T. There cannot be and there shouldn't be. She is a crazy human being who should find an equally demented human being for herself. I wonder what Abhay sees in her to pamper her so much.

T ' Liar. You see something in her as well.

Sambhav 'Don't look at me with those vampire eyes , okay? Fine, I am attracted to her. That's it.

T( narrows her eyebrows at him)- That's it?

Sambhav( sticking to his guns )- That's it.

T( making a serious face )- Okay.

She looks back him with a suppressed smile and grins at him. Sam gets irritated.

Sambhav ( reaching for her )- Just you wait, Tanz!

T( getting up and running )- Werewolves don't compete with vampires in running , dude!

Sambhav ( running after her )- Let me clarify that one!

T laughs and Sambhav runs behind her and chases her all over the woods, her laughter ringing like that of the old T. She dodges and teases him while Sambhav almost catches her but she slips out his hands all the time. Suddenly, T feels shot of pain in her temples and she stops. The voice rises in her head. It's the voice of the majesty.

Majesty ' You are only supposed to trap him, Tanushree. You are not supposed to have any real feelings for him. He is a werewolf and he is an enemy. Don't forget that.

Sambhav comes from behind and catches her by her waist, turning her around.

Sambhav (victoriously )- CAUGHT YOU! Now, tell me who runs faster? Werewolves or you vampires?

T ( still dizzy in the head and looking at him)- I'.

Sambhav ( sees that her face seems constricted in pain)- Tanz?...( touches her face lightly)'. You okay? What happened?

T ( breathless and shaken )- I'. I just'.

Sambhav gently hugs her and rubs her back.

Sambhav ( concerned )- Nothing. Its nothing. Take a deep breath. All is okay with you.

T finds herself settled and lest out her breath, and puts her arms around his shoulders.

T ( closing her eyes and thinking inside)- I must betray you, Sam. I must. I cannot have any real emotions for you. I shouldn't.

Sambhav ( calming her and thinking inside )- You've changed so much , Tanz. For the better or the worse, I don't know. But to me , you are my lost innocence. To me, you've become beautiful.
