Chapter Twenty-Three
"Nupur!! Meri tie band do zara."
Three years had passed. Nothing had changed at all. The same man was standing in front of the mirror waiting for his wife to come and tie the knot of his tie. The same woman came out and started tying the knot of the tie.
While she was tying her perfect knot.. a little skinny kid, almost two and a half years old entered the room in his night suit rubbing his eyes.
"Dad aaj aap phil zol she cheekhe.." he said complaining... "Shaali neend khalab ho gayi.." (its in the language children use it says: "dad aaj aap phir zor se cheekhe.. saari neend kharab ho gayi.."
Mayank and Nupur looked down at the cute little creature.
Nupur laughed and said "Neend na disturb ho bas janab ki.. tumhara hi beta hai."
She said.
Mayank went to him, and said "Goodmorning champ." while he kissed him on his cheeks.
Rahul: Goodmolning dad.
He said while raising his arms so that Mayank takes him in his arms. Mayank gave him an adorable look and picked him up.
Nupur: Sirf apne dad ko hi goodmorning bolna hai kya?
She said while pulling his pinkish white cheeks and giving him a kiss on them.
Rahul: Main apshe nalaaz hoon.
He said to Nupur.
Mayank: Haw! Gandi mama...
He said while teasing Nupur. Nupur playfully hit him on his back.
Nupur: Kya hua Rahul? Aaj mujhse kyun naraaz ho?
Rahul: Aapne kal raat ko mujhe ishcleam nahi di thi.
Mayank: Nupur..
He said while glaring at her.
Nupur: Han toh kya ghalat kiya..
Mayank gave an angry look.
Nupur: Mayank.. iska gala kharab ho jaata na..
Mayank: Nupur.. Thodi si icecream se kya hota hai.. Tumhe toh kuch bhi nahi pata..
Rahul: Han mama apko toh kuch bhi nahi pata.. hai na dad?
Nupur: Shuru ho gaye dono baap-bete subah subah..
Mayank: 210.
Rahul tried to repeat this thing behind Mayank. He said "Two hundled and ten" to which Mayank and Nupur laughed and kissed him.
Mayank then looked at his watch and noticed it was time to leave.
Mayank: Ok, Champ and Nupur.. Office time..
He said while kissing Rahul and putting him down.
Mayank went close to Nupur to give her the bye kiss, but then he just noticed Rahul was staring.
Mayank: Champ! You naughty boy, ankhein bandh karo..
Rahul closed his eyes with a naughty smile.
Mayank kissed Nupur on her cheek. Rahul brightened his smile, he may have seen the kiss through the little space between his fingers, by which he had covered his eyes..
Nupur then noticed Rahul's brightened and widened smile, to which she shacked Mayank and pointed at Rahul.
Mayank quietly noticed Rahul's widened smile, both had understood the reason. Mayank stepped tightly and went to him, he picked him up and lifted him upper. Then he heard his dad's voice from downstairs saying that they were late.
Mayank said bye to both and left.
That evening, Mayank arrived home. Nupur and Shilpa as usual served him and his dad the dinner.
After having the dinner, Mayank inquired for Rahul, Nupur told him that he was upstairs in his room, playing.
Mayank went upstairs, and silently went in his room. Mayank saw him playing with his toys.
He slowly went back, and picked him up.
"DAD!!" Rahul said with excitement. "Aap wapish aa gaye offich she?"
Mayank: Han.. dad aa gaye office se.
He said and put him down.
He then took out Rahul's favorite chocolate from his pocket and gave it to Rahul. Rahul took it and gave an excited look, said "Mujhe toh laga tha ke aaj aap bhul gaye meli chocolate."
Mayank smiled at his innocence and kissed him.
Mayank: Aisa kabhi nahi ho sakta.
He said this and pulled his cheeks, went out of the room to get freshened-up.
When he came out, he saw Nupur sitting with Rahul resting his head in her lap while having his milk feeder.
Mayank found it too cute, he went and sat beside them. He creased Rahul's silky hair, to which Rahul took out his feeder and complained, "main apshe kutti hoon." he said this and flipped his side to Nupur while putting his feeder back in his mouth.
Mayank wondered why.
Mayank: Kyun?
Rahul again took out his feeder and sat beside Mayank.
Rahul: Aap mele shaath game nahi khelte.. kitni der ho gayi..
Nupur: Rahul beta, kal dad ko kaam hai na, unhe jaldi sona hai na..
Nupur said while she cupped his face.
Rahul: Nahi..
He said with his stubborn facial expressions.
Mayank: Nupur.. ghalat baat..
He said while dramatically scolding Nupur,
Mayank: Aaj main aur champ raat ko late tak play station khelein aik saath.. done champ?
He said while he moved his hand forward to Rahul expecting him to put his hand on it. Rahul, with equal force put his hand on Mayank's. Mayank playfully started tickling Rahul and started playing.
Mayank stopped as he noticed Rahul had not drunk his whole feeder.
Nupur eyed Mayank to make Rahul drink it.
Mayank: Par aik shart par...
Rahul: ka?
Mayank: Pehle apna feeder finish karo..
Rahul quickly took his feeder in his mouth and started gulping it down.
Nupur stood up and started folding her dresses and putting them in the cupboard. While Rahul was drinking it,
Nupur slowly came behind Mayank and started massaging his shoulders. Rahul had flipped his side towards left, Mayank took advantage of the situation and kissed Nupur's hands.
Nupur whispered in his ears, "Kaam bohot zyada hota hai kya office mein?"
Mayank looked at her,
Mayank whispered: Han..
Nupur: Main sar daba doon? Sukoon milega..
Mayank pulled her on the bed and she sat there.
Mayank whispered: Mera sukoon toh mere saamne betha hai.
He winked. Nupur got shy.
Mayank whispered: Mrs. Mayank, hamari shaadi ko 3 saal ho chuke hain.. ab toh sharmana bandh karo.
Nupur: Tum bhi na..
Mayank: 2989.
Nupur laughed and silently hugged him.
