Chapter Nineteen
They both already loved their honeymoon, and moreover, they both had now started to adjust with each other they love had started getting deeper. Good luck was already showering its blessings on both, but bad luck was on its way itself. One fine morning, Mayank's phone started ringing, and which woke up both of them.
"Hello." said Mayank. "Oh shucks' Maa aap fiker na karo... main aur Nupur aa rahe hain. Aap apna aur dad ka khayal rakhein aur mujhe condition se updated rakhna... ham bas next flight se hi aa rahe hain."
He said with his worried face and quickly after his mom's phone call, he called the travel agent and booked his and Nupur's tickets back to Simla.
Nupur's surprise expressions looked at him. After he had called the agent, he looked at Nupur.
Mayank: Dad ko heart-attack hua hai. Sorry baby, we'll have to go back.
Nupur: Sorry kis baat ka? Your family is my family too... in fact hamein jaise hi tickets milti hain we should leave...
She said and cupped his face, which had molded worried expressions.
Nupur: Don't worry baby. Dad theek ho jayen ge.
Mayank removed her hand from his face and brought them near his mouth, kissed them gently.
They caught the next flight and flew back to Shimla. They both directly reached the hospital, where Mayank's dad was admitted. Mayank went rushing to his mother and asked what had happened to his dad.
"Pata nahi beta... sab kuch aik dum se hi ho gaya."
She said as she did burst out crying. Mayank and Nupur got teary seeing her like that.
They waited for the next 8 hours, and then the doctors had finally told that the position was getting under-control. That gave them a sigh of relief.
Nupur came and sat near Mayank who was sitting worried.
She put her hand on his and tightened it. He looked up, and this was the first time Nupur had seen his eyes teary. Mayank looked here and there and his eyes searched for his mom. Nupur read his eyes.
Nupur: Maine maa ko ghar bhej diya... wo yahan rukne ki zid kar rahi thi... maine unhe samjha diya ke hum dono yahan hain aur waise bhi pichle 10 ghante se wo yahin thi. Chalo ab tum bhi yeh juice pee lo.
She said while giving him the pack of juice she had brought for him.
Mayank: Mujhe nahi peena.
Nupur: Paghal mat bano Mayank... tum kya chahte ho ke tum bhi dad ki tarah yahan hospital mein admit ho jao? Main aur maa kahan jayenge?
She cupped his face.
Nupur: Hummein dad ka khayal rakhna hai Mayank... wo theek ho jayenge... aur unka khayal rakhne ke liye tumhe kuch khana ya peena toh pade ga na. Tumne pichle 18 ghanton se kuch nahi khaya hai... flight mein bhi kuch nahi khaya. Breakfast tak nahi kiya tha. Aise kaise chale ga? Chalo ab yeh juice pee.. mere liye.. Please?
She said while kissing his forehead. And then she inserted straw in the juice pack and gave it in his hands, Mayank gulped down the juice and then slowly put his head on her shoulder.
Slowly, in the next 2-3 hours, Mayank's dad had regained consciousness and they were told that he could be taken back home in the next week, and no stress for a month.
The next day, Nupur's parents came to visit Mayank's dad, and then Mayank's mom comforted them that she was there in the hospital and they both were told to go and get some rest at home. They had not slept for last 24 hours due to all that tension.
They reached back home, and slowly straightened their backs finally. Mayank and Nupur lied on the bed, and Mayank's face still did seem tensed.
Nupur knew that his head ached. She slowly started stroking his head and in a while his breathes got deeper, and when she looked at him, he had slept.
This was the first day of her life when she saw "the Mayank" so tensed and worried.
She took a sigh of relief and slowly hugging his back, she slept too.
The next day, the alarm woke up Nupur and she went, and pressed Mayank's coat, pant and shirt.
She came to Mayank and shacked him..
Nupur: Mayank utho..
Mayank : Ummm...
He didn't want to wake up... he didn't have a complete sleep.
Nupur: Office nahi jana?
Mayank held her hand and put it under his face. The soft touch was just too gentle to be loved having it under his face.
Nupur: Mayank... utho na. Stop acting like a child now.
Mayank opened his eyes slowly.
Mayank: Kya Nupur... itni subah subah utha rahi ho.
He was still in half sleep, not much conscious to understand certain things going around.
Nupur: Mayank... tumhe office jana hai utho aur tayyar ho jao.
Mayank: Main toh bhool hi gaya, shucks! Time kya hua hai?
Nupur: 8 baj chuke hain.
Mayank: Mujhe toh 8:30 pohonchna tha... Nupur, tum jaldi se mere kapde dedo... main tayyar ho jata hoon.
Nupur: Tumhare kapde press karke rakh diye hain jao naha ke, change karke neeche aa jao... nashta bana deti hoon.
He smiled and kissed her forehead with all love in his eyes, and went inside the bathroom.
Mayank came out of the bathroom, dressed in his business-man avatar, he went downstairs for the breakfast and Nupur, like a good wife served him the breakfast she made for him.
Mayank ate the delicious meal for breakfast. He then left, kissing Nupur's cheek.
The day went hectic, Mayank had to over-work, he had to do all the work of his father, and it seemed hard because he was new to the work and handling the Head seat was harder than he thought.
He came directly to the hospital that afternoon, his father was so happy to see him going on work and working. A responsible Mayank had been born.
While Nupur and Mayank were there, Mayank's mom went and rested, and she came back in the evening.
Mayank and Nupur left the hospital and came back home. Nupur went inside the bathroom to change her clothes and get freshened up. But then what Mayank heard was a big scream of Nupur.
Mayank rushed to the bathroom to see what was there of which Nupur had got scared.
Mayank: NUPUR!!
He called out with fear.
Nupur ran out and hugged him tightly and breathed heavily.
Nupur: Mayank!!
She tightened her hug.
Mayank: Kya hua Nupur?
He asked calmly.
Nupur: Mayank, ander lizard hai.
Mayank: Kya?
Nupur tightened the hug even more now.
Mayank started laughing forgetting all his sorrows and tensions.
Nupur: Tum hans rahe ho?
She said and broke the hug.
Mayank: Itni badi ho kar aik chotti si lizard se darti ho?
He laughed even louder.
Nupur: Uhhh!! I hate you.
Mayank: 9007.
Nupur: Tum ab tak yeh sab nahi bhoole?
Mayank: Nope.
Nupur: EEEKKS. You are mad!
Mayank: 377.
Nupur: Sadu Uncle.
Mayank: Moti teacher.
And Nupur went to the bathroom again, whereas Mayank sat on the bed while using his laptop.
At night, while both were lying on their bed.
Mayank slowly hugged Nupur. She looked back at him, and he kissed her forehead. Slowly he turned her back and kissed her cheeks and chin slowly.
She gently caressed his cheeks and she kissed him.
