Geet woke up.
She heard a faint 'beeping' sound from somewhere in her flat. She didn't know what it was...
And then an idea struck her.
It was Friday.
A school day.
Geet opened her eyes wide and then ran, exiting her kitchen and entering her bedroom. The faint 'beeping' sound was now loud, echoing in the room. She looked at the time.
It was 8:00am.
She had been sleeping. Which meant the alarm had been 'beeping' since 6:00am.
Great.
She had to get dressed and reach school in 10 minutes. Otherwise she'd get detention.
But her school was 4 miles away!
And she even missed the stupid school bus.
Geet quickly went up to her wardrobe and then looked at her clothes. It was summer in London now, and she only had winter clothes. The sun was peeking through the blinds, blinding her.
She suddenly breathed a soft sigh of relief as she realized she was immortal.
Her pajamas and t-shirt transformed into a summer dress and leggings and her frizzy bed hair had transformed into shiny, straight hair. It even smelled of apples.
She then quickly popped her toothpaste replacing (removes all plaque) gum and chewed. She grabbed her schoolbag and then snapped her fingers.
She appeared in the school grounds and then ran towards her classroom. Just as she stepped inside the classroom the final bell rang. She was just in time.
She looked around herself.
She wanted to sit anywhere but near Dev.
Teacher: "Hurry up Handa. We don't have all day for you"
Maan was sitting a table, alone as usual with his usual angry frown on his face. But when he turned to look up at Geet, he managed a faint smile.
Geet knew the teacher will not approve her changing seats. But she decided to give it a go. So she took a deep breath and moved herself towards the seat next to Maan's.
Teacher: "You don't sit there" she scoffed and eyed Geet in a way which was like saying 'Do-as-I-say-or-I-shall-kill-you'
Geet's face flushed pink.
Everyone was staring towards Geet. Except for Maan, who was just looking down at his desk, fiddling with his pen.
Well this was embarrassing.
But then she remembered.
This was Sex Education she was in. Last time she sat beside Dev she disrupted the lesson. She got moved next to Maan...
Geet: "But... I thought you moved me to this seat. I mean, I wouldn't like to disrupt the lesson AGAIN" she said, emphasizing on the word 'again'
Maan very faintly snorted.
The teacher considered.
Teacher: "Fine" she said and sighed, and started the lesson.
Geet dumped her bag on the floor and sat down. She gave a victorious look to Dev but Dev just looked away. Maan moved his chair slightly closer to Geet and then put his arm around her waist and when Dev saw this, he clenched his jaw in jealousy.
Later in the day, Dev didn't speak to Geet, and Geet didn't speak to Dev. Geet hanged out with Maan and Meera and Dev hanged out with girls. Geet wondered which lucky girl he was about to kiss this time.
After school, Geet stayed in the library after school to finish off her pile of fresh homework. She decided to finish it and just get it over with, rather than just doing it last minute. Maan insisted on staying with her so he could help, but Geet insisted that she would be okay without his help and if she needed help she would call him.
She typed on the computer and wrote down notes in her jotter at the same time. She was really hungry, but she was still determined to complete her work. In English, her teacher told her that she could do better. Geet was angry, and now she wanted to prove her stupid teacher wrong.
It was now 7:00pm in the evening. The librarian came over and announced that the library would close in 5 minutes, as she went she also handed in a letter for Geet.
Geet: "For me?" she asked and looked at the envelope
The librarian nodded and left Geet to her business. Geet opened the envelope and a fragrance suddenly burst open.
The letter smelled of jasmine and it also had a touch of roses. She held the letter up to her nose and smelt it.
She opened the letter. It said:
"To Geet,
Thanks for making my life special. I love you.
Maan"
Geet smiled.
She put the letter back in its envelope and carefully put it in her pocket. She then hit the 'print' button on the computer and stood up to collect it.
But something was wrong.
Her knees suddenly felt wobbly.
And her head suddenly started to throb so heard she felt her brain might explode.
One side of her felt heavy, and the other felt light.
And then it soon struck her.
That letter, that fragrance.
She was drugged.
Before she could yell out for help, her knees gave in and she collapsed to the floor. As darkness haunted her eyes, the last word she said was 'Maan'.

As Maan stood in his balcony, painting the beautiful view, he felt suddenly very uneasy. He felt like someone was calling out to him. He didn't feel like painting anymore. He felt like being with Geet.
And that's when he knew something was terribly wrong.
He snapped his fingers and disappeared from the balcony, reappearing in the library. He frantically looked around for Geet and the computer Geet was on was left abandoned. The librarian wasn't there anymore, and he saw a body.
He couldn't quite see who's body it was since she was lying on her front. Her face was covered by her hair.
He went over the body with trembling hands. He knew who this person was but he had to see it just to be sure. He turned the body around.
Geet.
Maan felt anger sweep over him and he had so many questions in his mind. Who done this? Why did that person do this? What did they want to achieve? How did this happen?
But soon one of Maan's questions were answered.
Maan pulled up his shirt to his nose and took out the letter from her pocket. He opened it up, and he read the letter.
He didn't send this.
Geet was drugged.
Before he could even carry Geet and take her to the hospital, he felt a big thump on his head. He felt dizzy. He collapsed and struggled to keep his eyes open.
Before his eyes could black out, he took Geet's hand and held it in his.
His last thought was:
"Your going to pay for it Dev"
And he blacked out.
