Just at the moment, a voice coming out of the speakers that were set in the locker room startled them:

"Interns please report in the nurse station within half an hour."

Armaan chuckled: "oops be ready buddies. Here begins the drudgery. (He winked at them while they all laughed) chalo bye. You all get ready. Main chalta hu."

As soon as Armaan left, all the interns started getting their belongings into their respective lockers. Nisha was trying to open her locker but it wasn't opening. When she was fed up after trying for at least ten times, she sighed: "Guys plz yaar koi mera help karo. Yeh kambakhat locker khul hi nehi raha."

Before ne1 else could reply it was Gaurav who stepped forward: "main kar deta hu teri madat."

Nisha turned back and smiled at him while he too smiled back.

Priya giggled: "oye hero aankhein chaar baad mein karna. Abhi ke liye toh tu bas locker khol."

The rest of them started laughing while Gaurav and Nisha quickly looked away, blushing slightly. Gaurav approached the locker and gestured nisha to move back. He pulled open the locker after one or two try and then set the lock in the right position which was obstructing the door from getting opened.

Nisha smiled: "thanx Gaurav."

Gaurav grinned: "Always welcome."

Others: ooooooooo sud we leave you two alone!

Both were flustered and uttered toghether: "Shut up guys!"

Laughing and chatting merrily, all were about to leave when Aryan called out: "Hey buddies, you all go. I'll catch up right in few minutes."

Priya: "kya hua Aryan?"

Aryan: "Nothing yaar. Bas washroom hoke aaya."

Priya : "Okay. But come soon."

Aryan smiled: "Don't worry. I'll be there even before you know it."

Saying this he turned to the left and placing his mobile on the nearby desk, he dissapeared behind the washroom door.

Everyone went out of the washroom. However, ecept one, Aarzoo, who stopped in her tracks when she heard Aryan and then pretending to walk a few distance with others, she deliberately slowed down and fall back.

She tiptoed into the locker room yet again with an evil grin shining on her beautiful lips and checked whether Aryan had returned. Ensuring that he was still in the washroom, she quickly took his mobile which was lying on the desk and dialled her number from it. As the call connected to her mobile, which she had already put in the silent mode, she cut the call and placed Aryan's mobile in its previous position, as she heard a faint click. Aarzoo moved out of the room within an instant.

A moment after she left, Aryan came out of the washroom. He searched for his mobile, picked it up and he too moved out of the locker room.

(nurse station)

All the interns had already gathered in the nurse station and were waiting for the senior doctor for briefing when Aarzoo, who was walking in a slight haste, came to an abrupt halt right in front of them, panting slightly.

Antara: "Arey Aarzoo tu kahan reh gayi thi aur tu huff kyun rahi hain?"

Aarzoo smirked and then smiled: "Arey kuch nehi Antara wo kya hain na aatey hue mera labcoat raste mein gir gaya tha, toh use uthakar saaf karke aane mein der ho gayi."

A voice spoke from behind: "Sukar manao ki lab coat hi gira tha yeh khud nehi giri. Warna briefing start hone ke do ghante baad najar aati aur kehti doctor doctor mera "accident" ho gaya tha."

All the boys cracked up and even the girls were finding it difficult to keep their faces straight. Aarzoo was fuming like volcano and was on the verge of bursting but she resumed her control and turned back with a smirk which surprised Aryan who actually expected her to shout back. But then what she said just added fuel to the fire.

Aarzoo: "Accident ka toh pata nehi par explosion toh jarur hoga aur wo bhi bare waley dhamake ke saath. Par wo mere liye nehi balki humare so much respected Dr.Aryan ke liye hoga. Bas thora sa intezar. Wo kya kehte hain….hmmm….haan, intezar ka phal meetha hota hain. Waisa meetha toh hoga mere liye par Aryan ke liye meetha hoga ya nehi pata nehi." (And she again an evil grin again crept onto her lips)

Aryan (fuming in anger): "Dekho tum.."

Aarzoo snapped back: "kya dekhu haan? Dikhao."

"Oh God! Not again!"

"Dr.Aryan, Dr. Aarzoo yeh kya tamasha laga rakha hain? Yeh hospital hain naki aap dono ka ghar."

They were badly startled by the two voices which respectively belonged to a man and woman and turned back to find Armaan and riddhima standing there.

While all the other interns stopped giggling at once, Aryan and Aarzoo lowered their gaze and looked at the ground.

They both mumbled toghether: "Sorry."

Riddhima walked up to them with Armaan following her with a slight smile lingering on his lips.

Riddhima (looking straight at Aryan and Aarzoo both of whom were standing side by side): "Doctors, aap dono shayad bhool gaye hain ke aap doctors hain aur yeh hospital hain. Aap dono koi KG ke students nehi hain jo baccho ke tarah lar rahe hain. Aapne personal differences apne tak rakhiye. Don't let it interfere with your profession."

Aryan-Aarzoo : "Sorry Ma'm."

Riddhima: "Fine! Lets get started with the briefing then. (checking the sheet she was holding) Dr.Arjun and Dr.Antara general ward, Dr. gaurav and Dr. Nisha children's ward, Dr.Harsh and Dr.Priya AIDS ward, Dr.Aarzoo …"

But she was interrupted by a loud ringing tone. All the interns including Riddhima and Armaan looked here and there to find out the source of the sound.

Aryan bit his tongue and mumbled a "sorry" audibly and took out his mobile. It was his mobile that was ringing. Riddhima glared at him while Armaan gestured him to go on and make the convo fast.

(one sided convo)

Aryan answered the call: "This is Dr.Aryan. Who's that?"

Aryan: "But who the hell are you?"

Aryan: "Who's Shweta now? I don't know any Shweta."

Aryan: "What nonsense? Listen you…."

However he couldn't complete as the phone was snatched away from him. Startled he turned back to see Aarzoo standing beside him with a curious expression.

Aarzoo: "hmmm….lagta hain kuch garbar hain. Hain na Dr.Aryan? Pareshaan mat ho, main hoon na." (And she smirked)

Aryan (through gritted teeth): "Tum ho issi baat ki toh pareshaani hain."

However, for a change, Aarzoo didn't retort back and chose to ignore his cynical comment. Instead she pressed the mobile with her ear and started a conversation.

Aarzoo: "Hello, who's that? Aur aap kyun pareshan kar rahe ho Dr.Aryan ko?"

Aarzoo: "Watttt? Nehi re baaba, main toh usko thik se janti bhi nehi, main toh sirf uski colleague hu. Haan tum batana chahti ho toh batao mera kya jaata hain. Ruko main speaker on karti hu." (And she put the mobile on speakers)

However, everyone was baffled by the words that came out of the mobile the next moment. But no one was as bewildered as poor Aryan.

Voice: " hi janu. Kya baat hain sweetheart? Mujhe apne soniye ko itni jaldi bhool gaye. Not fair. My love naaraz ho kya mujhse? Promise main kuch galti nehi karungi next time. Ab toh maan jao meri jaan."

Everyone's mouth fell open but Aryan situation was pathetic. The poor guy was bewildered and literally scared and confused like hell.

In utter bewilderment, he managed to yell: "Who the hell are you?"

"That is the question we should ask you Dr.Aryan. Who is she and what is going on?"

Aryan, startled, looked up to find riddhima glowering at him.

Aryan fumbled: "No ma'm. I….I…I don't know who…. Who she is."

Aarzoo: "Really? Then is she a mental case to bug you like that? What was that? Ya, Jaan, sweetheart, my love and God knows what more."

Aryan was hell nervous now and yelled at her: "Shut up! Just shut up!"

Aarzoo retorted back: "Why should I? kyun sach karwa laga na?"

Riddhima interfered finding the situation going out of hands: "Stop it both of you. And dr.Aryan if you don't know her how did she get your number? Can you explain that?"

Aryan: "I…I…don't know ma'm. I really don't."

Riddhima: "Shut up. I'm fed up of listening to the same reply."

Armaan now intervened: "riddhima listen…."

But Riddhima cut him in: "Nehi Armaan. Aaj ke generation ke baccho ko humesha responsibility ki yaad kyun dilana parta hain. Hadd hoti hain. Aur Dr.Aryan I thought you are responsible enough to avoid such kind of craps."

Aryan lowered his gaze and looked down on the floor and mumbled "sorry"

Riddhima: "From the next time just keep your personal matters away from ur profession and one more thing I don't want any public declaration of affection in the hospital like this. Do you get it?"

Aryan (still gazing at the floor): "Yes Ma'm."

Riddhima: "Fine. Aarzoo you will assist me while Dr.Aryan you will assist DR.Armaan. Is that clear everyone?"

All the interns: "yes Ma'm."

Riddhima and Armaan left asking the interns to report within 15 minutes.

Aarzoo giggled once they went out of ear shot and turned to Aryan who was still standing there motionless with his head bowed.

Aarzoo walked up to him and stood in front of him and again burst into giggles.

After controlling her giggles with great difficulty, she said in tone full of sarcasm: "kya hua Dr.Aryan? kaisa laga? Maja aaya? Sabke samne embarassement ka samna karke accha laga? Tumhara toh pata nehi par haan mujhe toh bhai bahut maja aaya sachmein. Tumhara chehra toh bas dekhne layak tha kasam se. Ekdum bheegey chuhey lag rahe the. (And she giggled again but then became sober and spoke again with a bit bitterness) This is called tit for tat. Tumne mujhe embarrass kiya wo bhi sab ke samne aur ab wo hi tumhare saath maine kiya. Maine bola tha na bara wala dhamak honey wala hain, lo ho gaya dhamaka. Kya hua ab bolti bandh ho gayi, haan? Nazre milane ki himmat bhi nehi rahi kya?"

And it was then that Aryan looked up and straight into Aarzoo's eyes. Aarzoo, who was giggling, stopped immediately as for the first time in the whole day she saw a pain in his eyes. She didn't know why but for some unknown and weird reasons her heart twisted to see the pain in his eyes. She felt a weird lurch in her stomach and a sharp pang of guilt as she saw tears brimming in his handsome eyes. He didn't say a single word to her or retort back, which was extremely unusual, and just turned back and strode away.

Aarzoo,however, was rooted to the spot, as a cloud of utter confusion took over her. It was all a prank planned by her in league with her friend Shweta, who called Aryan as the number was given to her by Aarzoo and it was Aarzoo who asked her to say all that she said previously. But everything was planned by her as a prank, as a revenge but she never ever imagined in her wildest dream that he will become so much upset and that she'll have to see tears in his eyes. For some reason unknown to her she didn't like it a bit when she saw the pain and tears in his eyes. All that she had expected was that Aryan would react immediately and retort back and plan some weird prank in return and challenge her. But nothing such happened, instead something as unexpected as this happened.

However her chain of thoughts broke by Priya's voice.

Priya spoke in a very calm but bitter voice: "Aarzoo tum ne jo bhi aaj kiya wo bilkul thik nehi kiya."

Aarzoo was still confused: "kyun? Aisa kya kiya maine? Wo toh sirf ek prank…."

Priya interrupted her: "Sirf ek prank nehi tha yeh Aryan ke liye. Isne usko ek bitter incident yaad dila diya. Ek aisa incident jise wo peechle do saalo se bhulne ki koshish kar raha hain, par janti hu main aaj bhi bhula nehi paya wo us hadse ko."

Harsh: "Aisa kaunsa incident hain jo Aryan do saalo ke koshish ke baad bhi bhula nehi paya?"

Arjun: "Aur us incident ka Aarzoo ke prank se kya talluk?"
