Chapter 16
Ok peeps....so this FF first started as an OS in which the characters were the exactly the same..but obviously I introduced new characters....and our sherni is going through some changes...I want a bolder geet..and I think even you folks are liking the change..

Recap: With that, she kissed my cheek softly, closed her eyes with a smile, wrapped her left arm tightly around my waist not planning to leave me any time soon and let the injured one rest on my chest. What the hell just happened?, I thought. Soon, she drifted off to sleep leaving me restless but applying my own words to myself, I decided to think about it in the morning. I put a alarm for five in the morning so I could be out of bed before Dadi Ma came, I just wasn't feeling as brave as Misiti was. And frankly I didn't want Dadi ma suffering from a heart attack when I needed to get Anna into the Khurana family. What had gotten into her? That I couldn't figure. With zillion thoughts in my head, I somehow managed to doze off.
Chapter 16
I woke as a shrilling sound of alarm rang in my head to find myself in the embrace of the man I loved with his arm lightly around my waist and his head in my neck. I tried to get out of his arms and placed his head on a pillow quietly so I wouldn't wake him. And grabbed his cell before it woke him as clearly he hadn't gotten enough sleep last night. I looked at Maan's cell phone to see that it was only 5:00 am as I switched off the alarm and I guessed he must have put it on so he could out of bed. I don't think I gave him much of a chance to say much last night but what the hell had gotten into me last night? Seriously, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that this was the only man I was going to be close to and I wanted to be close to him without the hesitation. I think even I don't understand myself what made me kiss him last night. How I suddenly gave into my repressed desires Of course, waiting for our marriage to make love but I craved to be as close as possible. Deep down, I knew it was sudden fear of losing him had me take the first step, I wanted to reassure myself that I do have Maan with me.I figured it was going to take time for him and me to get use to the new Geet. I
brought my left hand to his face to trace his eyes, nose, jaw line, and his lips with my fingers. How I wished I could kiss them again but that would wake him up but his lips were like a drug and I couldn't get enough now that I had a taste, Placing a rather light kiss on his cheek, I lifted myself off the bed. As I looked out the window where the day hadn't fully arrived, last night's unfortunate events began to haunt me. The stranger had been too close and could have easily harmed Maan. I needed to tell Maan but I couldn't endanger his life: the man obviously watching them. Frustration began to rake my nerves and I swept my hand through my hair. Clearly that was a bad idea as I winced in pain. I looked down at my bandaged hand that needed changing. I sat myself on the chair and opened the first aid kit. I struggled to open the bandage with my left hand as pain shot through my hand. I looked at it for the first time she saw it properly and it was ugly, just plain ugly.
"Geet, what are you doing?", he said as he rushed over to me and held my hand.
"Couldn't you wake me if you needed help?"
"I am sorry, I didn't want to disturb, I know you didn't get enough sleep last night."
He brought his lips forward to lightly brush his lips on my forehead. " Misiti, you seriously scared me last night. What happened last night?."
Oh no, I knew this was coming, I thought. He looked at me with questioning eyes for answers I couldn't give him. "Oh, it was nothing, I had a nightmare so I panicked." I tried to lie smoothly without looking into his eyes. My eyes always give me away; I just hoped he would buy the lie. I couldn't---couldn't ever endanger his life, he had risked his life too many times for me.
" You sure?", he asked. I nodded as I buried my face in his chest knowing he would soon catch my lie if I looked into his eyes too long. He wrapped his arms around my waist to hug me closer
"You know Geet, it's morning now......", he said after a few moments of silence.
"And", I said pretending to be completely oblivious to what he was getting at.
He chuckled softly, "so I guess someone is not feeling as brave as they were last night." Oh, he was not planning to let me off the hook.
"No, I am feeling just as brave as I was last night. I meant what I said last night. I want to be close to you."
Maan wrapped his hands tighter around my waist as he placed a kiss on my neck," And I couldn't be happier." I smiled back in return setting my head on his shoulder.
"Come on Geet, let's get some food into your system. Dr. Sharma is going to be back to check on you.", Maan said as he held her hand.
"Ok, you go. I will be down in 10 minutes.", I said as I made my way to the washroom.
He hesitated at the door, "You are going to be okay by yourself."
I nodded and smiled ay his concern. "Don't worry, I will get Dadi ma to help me with my clothes."
He grinned openly and said, "you know I could help you." I just blushed and ran into the washroom.
Geet walked downstairs 10 minutes later to find Dadi ma sitting with Maan. As soon as she saw Geet, she rushed over with evident motherly concern in her eyes,
"Geet beta, are you okay? Why didn't you two call me when it happened? What kind of mother sleeps when her child is in pain?
Geet was deeply touched with her concern and love. Geet brought her left hand to Dadi ma's cheek to reassure her, "Don't worry Dadi ma, I am perfectly fine. Maan took care of me." Savati Devi turned to smile at her grandson. Geet then whispered into Dadi ma's ear and she nodded in understanding.
"Maan beta, why don't you go to the house and freshen up? We will meet you there soon. " Maan didn't want to leave Geet but he was obedient to his Dadi's words; he nodded and left.
A while later, Geet and Dadi ma walked into Khurana Mansion with Geet's clothes changed and her hair in a braid. Just then, Maan and Vicky walked downstairs all freshened up. Vicky walked over to Geet and held her left hand only,
"You ok Bhabzz?" Geet smiled,
"I am fine brother-in-law" Vicky then kept his hand in hers and he guided her to the dining table. She gave him a brief smile as he walked to his own seat. Geet felt so lucky to be blessed with such a caring family.
Nakul served breakfast and Maan fed her and himself alternatively. Dadi ma and Vicky smiled at his sweet gesture.
"Geet beta, could you call Meera and see if she can come by this evening? I would like her to be here to meet Annabelle." Vicky looked up at the name of wife/girlfriend. He wondered why Geet's friend needed to be here but decided not to question, as he needed Dadi to give the verdict in his favor.
"Yes, I will when once I get to work." As soon the words left Geet's mouth, she heard a loud no from all the three of them at the same time.
"There is no way you are going to work. The doctor said you need to rest for a few days.", Maan ordered.
"But Maan----", Geet attempted before Dadi cut her off,
"Maan is right beta, absolutely no office until you are all better." Geet looked from one to the other knowing there was no hope.
A while later
Dr. Sharma had come by to check on Geet. After examining her hand, he reassured everyone that Geet would be fine soon as she refrained her right hand movement. Maan, Vicky and Dadi nodded and promised to watch her like hawks.
Geet then found time to call Meera and told her the exact same story they told Dadi ma. They couldn't afford any slips not that Geet didn't trust her but still. She asked her to inform Dev as well; this was big news and he would feel left out if he found later. Unfortunately Meera was leaving that day for business. She assured Geet that she would come meet Annabelle the day she got back and asked her to give her apologies to Dadi ma.
Maan was gathering up the files he needed for the day and thinking how he was going to manage with Geet at the office; he needed her professionally as his secretary but he also need personally as his Misiti. He knew it was going to be way harder to be without her personally.
"Maan, aren't you running late ?", she asked she walked in
"Geet, what are you doing upstairs? You are suppose to resting.", he dragged her to sit on the bed.
"Oh Maan you worry too much, all I did was climb a few stairs, I am fine..trust me.", she said as she rubbed her nose against his. Maan leaned him closer holding her waist.
"Hmm..You know I think I need to hire a new secretary while you recover, he said as he walked to pick up his briefcase.
Geet was up in a flash, "Oh Don't you dare Mr.Maan Singh Khurana",she said angrily as she pulled him closer with a tug on his tie. Maan was afraid....oh he was afraid when Geet Handa got mad. Maan decided to end his leg pulling before his Sernei bit his head off.
"I am just joking Misiti", he said hoping she would cool down.
"You better be. That position and 'you' only belong to me,", she said emphasizing every word especially you. And with another tug on his perfectly knotted tie, she captured her lips with his briefly before letting go. He looked at her in shock unable to digest the fact that his Misiti had kissed him in board daylight. "See I meant what I said", she said with a smirk before she walked out leaving Maan in shock once again.
Khurana Mansion 7:00 pm
Geet watched as Vicky paced from one end of the living room to the other. "Vicky, relax. Everything will be fine", she said.
"I hope you are right Bhabzz, I hope you are right. If D doesn't approve of Anna then......", he trailed off
"Don't worry, she will.", she said as she patted his shoulder. "Come on Vicky, go get ready. I already sent the car to Anna's hotel." Vicky nodded and dashed off. Geet walked into the kitchen to check on the dinner prep. She didn't dare touch anything incase any of the servants informed her hawks.
She ran out of the kitchen when she heard Maan's voice. "Oh good, you are home. Quickly go freshen up, Annabelle will be here soon.", she said as she nudged him towards the stairs.
"What is this? No greeting kiss. You know, I did spend the whole day away from you.", he said as he held her waist to bring her closer.
"And who's fault is that?', she asked as she felt him nuzzle her neck.
"You know I would never compromise with you health. You come first before anything else.", he said as he hugged her close. She kissed his cheek in response before she nudged him up the stairs.
Khurana Mansion 8:00 pm
The small Khurana family was gathered in the living room awaiting the arrival of their guest. They all got up as Nakool guided a beautiful Irish girl who had draped a simple blue saree expertly and Geet applauded her just for that. Anna looked nervously as hell as she signaled Vicky to go up to her. Vicky walked up to her nervously and Geet watched as he fought the temptation to hold her hand. He held her elbow instead as he brought her to the family.
"Everyone, this is Annabelle" He started the introductions "Anna you already BB, my brother." She nodded sweetly and folded her hands in namasate. "This is Geet aka Bhabzz, my soon to be sister-in-law.", Anna once again folder her hands in greeting but Geet stepped forward to give her a quick hug to welcome her. Anna smiled in response pleased with Geet's kindness. "And this is my Dadi Ma and Dadi, this is Annabelle."
Anna bent down to touch her feet and took her blessings. "Namasate Aunty". Dadi looked pleased which was a good sign.
She touched her head to bless her as she said, "Bless you dear, but call me Dadi. All my children call me Dadi ma." Geet, Maan and Vicky openly grinned at Dadi's words while Anna shyly smiled.
Soon Nakool served dinner and everyone gathered around the table. Annabelle looked pleased with the items and added a small helping of the dishes and Dadi ma was surprised to see a 'gori' girl attempt such spicy food; that was the reason she had instructed the servants to prepare centennial food as well. "Annabelle dear, this Indian may be a bit too spicy for you.", Dadi said.
"It's okay. I eat Indian food almost on daily basis with Vicky. I mean, I took classes to learn cuisine.", Anna hesitantly explained. Vicky smiled in her direction. Dadi was once again pleased with her grandson's choice. The girl may look like a foreigner but she was an Indian every other way. Dadi already decided she wanted to make Annabelle her daughter-in-law but she wasn't to tell her children just yet
"So Annabelle, tell us about yourself. What about your parents ? Do they know you want to marry Vicky?", Dadi asked a series of question. Panic hit everyone's face.
"Actually D-------", Vicky started before Dadi ma cut him off.
"Beta, I am asking Annabelle", she said in the nonsense voice.
"I have no parents.....i mean my mother died of cancer when I was only five and my father...." Anna stopped when she felt tears stinging her eyes. Vicky reached to hold her hand. Somehow she continued. "My father was abusive and in fact It was Vicky who saved me from my father's beatings and sent him to jail." Saviti Devi's heart ached for the poor girl and the torture she went through her short life. She walked over to touch her head.
"Don't cry dear" , she said as she wiped her tears. "I am here for you but I am sorry I can't make you my daughter-in-law." Everyone stared at her in shock. Tears were swimming in Anna's eyes again. "That's because I want you be my daughter. Will you become my daughter." Anna could only nod as she flunged her arms her waist to hug her. Vicky also went to hug his D and whispered thanks in her ear. They celebrated the occasion with Maan's favourite chocolate mouse and Vicky's favourite chocolate cheesecake
Dadi ma decided that Annabelle would shift to the Khurana Mansion as of today itself but Anna refused she couldn't until they got married. Geet came up with a solution that they could share the outhouse and be housemates. Anna agreed with persuasion to shift the next day. Maan looked upset that Geet was going to have a housemate and he couldn't sneak over when he pleased. Geet squeezed his hand to comfort him.
Soon everyone was off to bed. Dadi Ma refused to let Geet stay alone in the outhouse while her hand was injured. Geet couldn't have been happier. Though she didn't think much about it, last night's events were still fresh in her mind. She dreaded being alone now knowing the moment she would be alone, the stranger would call; whoever the stranger was, he knew them and their actions well. But the question was who the hell was he?
So you peeps already know I am little behind because of the last chapter. I was planning to introduces Yash and Pari in this chapter but I didn't want to cram it. They are fun characters so I don't want to rush their entries. Plus enough has happened in this chapter. So how many are happy that Dadi accepted Anna ?
And i did give you short maaneet moments in between......
