Chapter 10:
"And we're here for the next four days. Together." Maan smirked as the two entered the small cottage that the family had rented out for them. "And this is where we're supposed to have our little second honeymoon, honey."
He glanced back at Geet who had entered the cottage expressionlessly, her thoughts obviously elsewhere as she barely paid attention to what he was saying. Sighing, Maan lugged the bags inside and dumped them inside the door. He snapped his fingers in her face, "Woman, are you just going to stand there and stare into space or are you actually going to come inside? Because mind you, I have no problem with leaving you outside. None at all after what you did to me" he growled, the fire and fury once again reentering his usually calm and collected face.
Geet shuddered as she hurriedly stepped into the door and closed the door behind her. What had the family been thinking? Sending them on a second honeymoon? And without the kids?! How in the name of heaven was she supposed to be alone with this man for the next four days? And actually control herself?!
When she glanced up, she saw that he was already making his way upstairs, and quickly followed him.
"M..Maan. Which room am I going to take?" she asked softly, and he slowly turned around and gave her a look that sent tingles down her spine.
"Separate rooms, love? Of course not. We're still married, remember? And there's no way in hell that I'm going to let my wife sleep in a different room, a different bed, when we're under my roof." Before she could comprehend what was going on, he had quickly reached out to grab her by the waist and pull her against him, one arm gripped tightly around her, while the other slowly traced her lips.
She took in a sharp breath as she saw the glint in his dark eyes, enough to make her weak at the knees. His mouth plunged down to capture hers, sending an explosion through the both of them, awakening a desire in her once again that she thought had died completely. Her arms automatically found their way around his neck, and pulled his head down closer to hers, and the two of them were lost in their own world, as his hands sneaked up inside her shirt, drawing circles on her bare skin. She sighed in response, eagerly pressing herself against him.
When he pulled away, the two were out of breath, and no words were exchanged as he led her into the first bedroom her saw, not bothering to close the door as he picked her up and threw her on the bed, falling right on top of her. Her hands automatically made their way to the buttons on his shirt, tearing them away so she could get her hands on him, while his mouth descended hungrily on hers, working magic with his hands on her most sensitive places.
She fit in his arms perfectly, as if she had found herself where she was always meant to be. All rational thought flew out the window as her hands reached the belt on his jeans, struggling to unbuckle it and tear it away from him so she could feel him inside of her.
She cried out his name in pleasure, as his mouth moved to the curve of her neck, pushing away her shirt, and gently nipping at her skin.
And that was when Maan pulled away.
When Geet reached out to grab his shirt, he pushed away her hands, and throwing her a stony glance, got up from the bed, leaving her lying there in her half undressed state.
"Maan?" she called out softly, hesitantly, as a confused expression formed on her face.
"Wondering why I left Geet?" he smirked. "Well, I just wanted to see if I still had the same effect on you as I did 7 years ago. If I could still make you turn into mush when we had sex" he continued bitterly.
Geet blinked once, then twice, as the reality of what had just happened set in. And Maan watched as her eyes went from confusion to pain, as she reached out for the covers on the bed to pull them tightly around her, as the tears rolled down her cheeks.
But he couldn't be affected.
He wouldn't be.
"After all you've done to me Geet, all the pain and suffering you've caused me, how you've separated me from my kids, how you never even thought to trust me, did you really think that I would want to be with you again? Emotionally or physically? You've messed up my life enough, I don't need any more screw ups" he growled, and with that, he turned on his heels and marched out of the room, making sure to slam the door really loudly behind him.
And Geet?
She stared after her husband, speechless. Was this really the same man she had married 8 years ago? He had to be, she still lost control of herself like she had always done around him. Thought flew out of the window, and passion took over her mind, her body always ruling over her brain when he was around. And this time had been no different for her. But obviously it had been for him.
Why? How could he possibly do something like this? To her?
She buried her face in the pillows, as the tears began to pour out continuously, lost in thought about what had gone wrong with her, with them, with her life.
Maan had not only walked out of the bedroom, he had stepped out of the house, needing a breath of fresh air. His mind was a confused mess, the hurt face of Geet, with those tears, constantly flashing in his thoughts, haunting him.
It had all seemed to make so much sense, hurt Geet just as she had hurt him. But now, all he could think about was, was it worth it? Did it give him any satisfaction to see her in that state, so vulnerable? He couldn't control himself around her, and a cold shower was what he had suffered through every morning since he had kissed her back in the US. A part of him wanted to forgive her, wanted everything that they had had before, but would it ever be possible?
Fury raged through him every time he thought about his kids, who he had met the week before just because his wife couldn't trust him, and was an expert at jumping to conclusions. A burning desire for revenge would drive him, hatred controlling his every thought and action.
He would definitely not be able to forgive her!
He definitely felt bad about leaving her in that state, but would he console her? Hell no.
He would ignore her. That was the best solution so his heart and his mind wouldn't end up battling it out.
Geet's tears had dried up on her cheeks, as she lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, her thoughts all concentrated on that one man who had reentered her life and literally turned it upside down. Did she want to be with him again?
The answer was a resounding yes. She couldn't even think about denying it after what had occurred in the afternoon.
Yes, that may have only seemed like physical attraction, but was there something else as well? There had to be. They were together before. And the fact that he could still affect her like no one else, send shocked through the core of her very being, had to mean something, right?
She slowly got up from the bed, and walked into the attached bathroom, splashing water on her face. She needed to think things out clearly, rationally. Figure out what the heck would happen with them next. What she wanted, needed.
She went back into her room and began to unpack. And think.
Maan entered the house a few hours later, it had fallen dark outside, and he had to return to the cottage at some point. He had spent the entire time walking around the countryside, visiting the little shops in the village, trying to keep his mind off of the woman waiting in the cottage. He refused to think about her, mess up his mood once again.
But he had to return at some point.
And when he did, he was relieved to not find her lurking around anywhere. The door to the room they had been in earlier was closed, the lights dark inside it, and he tiptoed across the hall into another room, and fell on the bed.
The two of them lay there, each in their own rooms, their thoughts occupied on one another as they stared off into the ceiling, their minds made up as to what would happen the next day, how they would spend the rest of their week in that cottage.
Brilliant update!! Didn't expect anything else from Maan..But leaving a woman in such a vulnerable state is the highest possible insult..Don't know whose side to take..but sure do feel the pain both are enduring at this juncture..very very curious to know, how you intend to solve this conflict...Kudos to you dear for coming up with such an amazing and different story..Please update more often..I'm totally hooked on this one.
