Maan: Ahem, I think we should get back to work, he said before striding outside followed by Geet.

Part 10

At Geet and Armaan's condo

Armaan woke up to the most beautiful sight on earth, his Riddhima sleeping next to him, her arm curled around his waist protectively. This was how he wanted to wake up everyday for the rest of his life, to be greeted by smiling face first thing in the morning.

Both of them had stayed up till late, lying next to each other talking and laughing until they succumbed to sleep. He had never had a more peaceful sleepful for he was no longer haunted by memories of Riddhima as she was right here, next to him.

While they were talking Riddhima told him the reason she was in Delhi. She had not been able to overcome her feelings for Armaan. Every nook and cranny of Sanjeevani reminded her of him until Dr Shashank, unable to bear her saddened state any longer suggested a change of scenery.

Riddhima: Who knew that the change of scenery would reunite us, she said with a laugh.

Armaan however understood the pain behind her words and clasped her hand tightly, trying to infuse his strength into her.

Riddhima: Armaan there is something else, she had added hesitantly. Papa has been pestering me to get married for sometime now. He has been pushing me towards his friends son Vikram but the man creeps me out.

Armaan: Don't worry, we'll think of something! I'm never letting you go again he said with determination. Riddhima nodded as she snuggled against him for she knew that with Armaan around nothing bad would happen. He would always protect her.

Geet came home to find Riddhima setting the table for dinner. She saw the glow of love on her friends' faces and smiled. Her thoughts drifted to her wedding day and she wondered if she had the same besotted look on her face.

Noticing the sad look on Geet's face, Armaan immediately launched into an absurd tale that had her laughing in minutes.

Over dinner Armaan told Geet about the dilemma that Riddhima was facing, of an unwanted marriage and a creepy suitor.

Riddhima: I just can't stand him! He has serial killer eyes she said. Armaan and Geet burst out laughing.

Armaan: Serial killer eyes? Really!

Riddhima: Argh! Laugh all you want but trust me he has serial killer eyes; you know cold emotionless eyes with no feelings. He scares me. Papa wants me to go meet him tomorrow, she added unhappily.

Armaan: Don't worry jaan, he won't come near you. As soon as Geet heard the word jaan her eyes widened and she burst out laughing.

She then told Armaan and Riddhima about her fictional tale regarding her puppy. She also told them about Maan's trick and how she snapped his pictures.

Armaan and Riddhima exchanged a look. They had both noticed how her voice softened when she talked about her boss and were both worried that she was setting herself up for heart break.

Geet: OMG! I know how to get rid of your serial killer suitor

Riddhima and Armaan: How? They leaned in closer as she explained her plan to them. After a lot of discussion and protesting from Armaan they finally decided on a plan of action.

The next day Geet called in sick to work so that she and Riddhima could go shopping. For her plan to work, Geet needed to look unlike herself. She tried on several summer dresses before she settled on one that did not make her feel uncomfortable but would fufill the purpose.

Riddhima on the other hand was not comfortable with what Geet was planning to do. Although it was comforting to have someone with her when she met with Vikram, as per Geet's plan, she was supposed to leave her alone with him so that Geet could flirt with him and get it all on tape. Armaan was also planning to be close by in case things went wrong.

Geet on the other hand had shed all her inhibitions. All her life she had been told what she could not do and after her marriage she had spent a long time crying over someone who was not worth her tears.

She intended to be bolder, she would no longer let people like Dev, Naintara and Sasha walk all over her. Geet Handa was made of sterner stuff.

Geet studied her reflection as she ran a hand over the summer dress she was wearing. She was thankful that she wasn't showing yet, God knew how much time she had left before people realized that she was pregnant.

Geet sighed as she followed Riddhima into the restaurant, she was already regretting her impulsive decision to wear the dress and it did not help that she was being stared at by the entire male population that was currently seated at the diner.

She followed Riddhima into a corner booth and resisted the urge to flee. A while later they were joined by Vikram, Riddhima's to be suitor and Geet disliked him on sight. After gazing at Geet as if he was mentally stripping her, the man took a seat across them.

Earlier

Geet: The plan is to trick him into flirting with me and record the whole thing. I'm sure your father wouldn't want you to marry a man who hits on other women.

Armaan: There is only one way I will agree to this! You wear a bluetooth device at all times this way I can listen in and the minute you start feeling uncomfortable just give me the sign and I will intervene. I am only a few tables away. Both Riddhima and Geet had agreed.

Back to Present

Riddhima: Geet this is my family friend Vikram and Vikram I'd like you to meet my friend Geet.

Vikram: Pleasure to meet such a beautiful lady.

Geet (thinking): Riddhima was right the man is creepy! Ugh and why is he staring at me?

Oh the pleasure is all mine she said trying to keep the disgust she felt out of her tone.

After chatting pleasantly for a while Riddhima got a call which was her signal to leave. After making her excuses she went off leaving Geet with Vikram. At the same time Geet reached inside her bag and pressed the record button.

Geet: So Vikram, Riddhima was telling me that your parents are looking forward for a match between you two.

Vikram: Yeah!

Geet: That is so surprising! I mean you guys seem poles apart! You are smart, charming and obviously a ladies man. Riddhima on the other hand is shy, plain and tends to avoid socializing. Vikram preened like a peacock upon hearing Geet praise him.

Vikram: That is true! I'm not eager to get leg shackled yet. And that too to Riddhima but my dad is eager for the match.

Geet: Really? That is surprising. I would expect you to be with a different kind of girl, someone more..shall we say modern.

Vikram: Someone like you, he said added with a laugh, Geet just smiled and stayed mum. Well who said that marriage will prevent me from having fun. I will continue to enjoy my life even if I have Riddhima for a wife. You know how it is, ghar main biwi aur bahar girlfriend, he said with a smirk.

Vikram: By the way, what are you doing tonight? If you're not busy would you like to go to dinner with me? At this point Geet had had enough. She stood up abruptly, anger blazing in her eyes.

Geet: You jerk! Riddhima is my friend. I flirted with you a little to find out if you were worthy of my friend but you are a complete as*! Do you really think I would go out with a creep like you, someone who sat across me and was discussing cheating on his to be wife, my best friend so casually! Men like you disgust me! She turned to leave when Vikram grasped her arm tightly.

Maan had been passing by a diner when he spotted Geet sitting there talking to a guy. This can't be right he thought, Geet was at home sick. But there she was. He thought his mind was playing tricks on him but somehow he felt that it was really her and he decided to go investigate.

He entered the diner and walked towards her only to hear her end of the conversation. Maan was awed and amazed. Amazed that the meek country miss had turned into a punjabi sherni and awed that she would go to such lenghts to protect her friend! He smiled but his smile disappeared when he saw the man grab her arm.

Armaan had been sitting at his table listening to the conversation and it took every inch of his restraint to prevent himself from going over and beating the crap out of him. He was rude, obnoxious and was staring at Geet insolently.

He stood up when he saw Geet berating the man and couldn't help but smile. Just then he saw Vikram grab Geet's arm angrily and started moving towards them but someone else got there first.

Maan: Let go of her, he said frostily, his posture exuding hostility.

Geet: Maan, she whispered his name and Armaan stopped in his tracks.

Vikram: Mind your own damn business. He tightened his grip on her arm and Geet whimpered in pain. Maan took another step forward and in the blink of an eye Vikram lay on the ground clutching his broken hand.

Maan: You ever touch her again and I will kill you! He gently led Geet out of the diner and into his car. Armaan hung back as he saw Geet leave with the man.

He had heard a lot about Maan Singh Khurana, about his ruthlessness and coldness but he had seen such concern in his eyes. That man was head over heels in love, Armaan concluded, whether he knew it or not.

Armaan went to find Riddhima and told her what had happened. She was horrified to hear about what Vikram had tried to do but relieved to hear that Geet was well and with Maan. Armaan told her about how Maan had protected Geet and how he thought that the two of them loved each other.
