Hey there lovely people! It's been a pleasure, and I mean it, to write down this little love story I had in my mind and present it to you. Trust me; I'd never ever expected to complete this journey I had begun. Well, the credit *obviously* goes to all the people who commented and liked my work. And those silent readers whose presence can never be felt but they often showed themselves. I've tried to make this as long as it can go. If it doesn't exceed your expectations, then I'm terribly sorry, and if it does, then I'm very, very glad. I felt the epilogue wasn't up to my expectations at all. I've winded this up in a very typical manner and I'll miss all of you. Please comment & hit the like button!
-Chapter Thirty-
-Forever and always-
"Would you have this dance with me?" he whispered, his voice, supple as he seized her arm. She turned around meeting his gaze which was softer than anything she had ever imagined. His eyes brimmed with desire, love and passion for her. The room has suddenly gone dark again, but they could still see each other, they could feel the emotion flowing from one's gaze to the other. But before any one of them could deceive the silence, a low music echoed in the room. A song that Geet had understood played in the background.
One of his arms slowly slid down her waist, holding her gently towards him. She felt his touch send a jolt down her body, giving her Goosebumps when he finally moved, swaying to the music and whispering the lyrics of the song in her ear.
"Would you dance, if I asked you to dance?"
"Would you run and never come back?"
The depth of those words struck Geet, she didn't know why but tears clouded her eyes, slowly blurring her vision, but she continued to move swiftly with his hold. She continued to listen to the wordings with more depth.
"Would you cry, if you saw me crying?"
"Would you save my soul tonight?" Maan whispered.
"Would you tremble, if I touched your lips?"
"Would you laugh, oh please tell me this"
Almost consequently, Maan moved his finger down her lip and gently cupped her face.
"Now would you die, for the one you love? Hold me in your arms tonight."
She rested her head on his shoulder and he heard a light sob that escaped.
"I can be your hero baby,
I can kiss away the pain,
I will stand by you forever,
You can take my breath away"
With that the song faded away. Maan slowly pulled out of the embrace and cupped her face once again, slowly pulling Geet towards him, setting his lips on hers, where they belonged.
**
Geet slowly looked into her hands, which were black with mehendi.
"He's late!" Priya yelled into the room. "That freaking makeup artist is late!"
Geet, who sat in front of the dressing table gave a light sigh and shook her head. It was five in the evening and she wasn't, not even a tad bit ready for any of this, and she didn't know why. "SHE is late" Geet replied, "and we're all late, what's the big deal, I reckon even the pandit ji will arrive late!"
"Priya, I need you here!" a voice entered the room. It was Rajji. "Raj, I'm not free right now! Busy with the bride you see," Priya yelled back. Geet stood up and looked out of the window, and a tear slipped down her cheek and at the same time, her mother arrived inside the room. Priya nodded towards her, pointing at the seemingly depressed Geet who stood at the window, looking at the clouds who were hiding the sun, or so were they trying. It was almost time for sunset, and time was going by faster. Every minute that passed, her stomach twirled at the thought of walking down the stairs, in front of everyone. But she also wanted to stay by his side, Forever and always.
"What's wrong beta?" her mother startled her as she noticed that she had been crying.
"Oh, nothing'" Geet said, wiping her tears. But it sounded like a lie, even to her ears.
"Yes, I can see that" her mom replied rather sarcastically. "Every girl goes through this phase and there's-'"
But before her mother could continue, Geet dug into her arms and silently wept. More than a minute passed and she silently pulled away, sniffing and wiping her tears. "I love you," she whispered to her mom.
"And I love you more," She replied as she wiped her own tears.
"It's weird," Geet smiled, "I mean, I always thought that daddy would be here, with me, since it's like the biggest moment of my life," Geet said, tears spilling endlessly.
"Yes, and he IS here" Priya replied as she came close to her. "He's here with you, and would never want his daughter upset on the biggest day of her life now would he?" she said, wiping her tears.
"And I don't want the bride to have puffy red eyes either" Priya laughed and so did Geet and her mom. "He's happy when you are happy. Remember that" she cupped her face and pulled her into a sisterly hug. "Love ya' sis!"
There was a knock on the door.
"Who is it?" Ma called.
"The makeup artist'" a squeaky voice answered.
"Oh, finally!" Priya abruptly pulled away as she gave a sigh of relief.
"I need to know how the hall is decorated!" Geet instantly chimed.
"Geet, you'd walk in there after a couple of hours, what's the rush? Besides, we're running late! Come on in makeup lady!" Priya answered.
"Well, I'll just tell the girls to begin their dressing sessions," Ma said as she got up and walked out of the door.
**
"You look gorgeous!" Priya gasped as she placed the duppatta on Geet's head.
"You think so?" Geet smiled. She looked into the mirror, to see someone entirely different. Someone who was marvelously gorgeous. The real beauty that would floor even Cleopatra for that matter. Her golden jewelry crowded her neck, and glittered, even in the not-so-bright room. Her makeup was light but elegant and Geet already felt that her ears would now drop out of their places. But despite some uncomfortable things, she felt satisfied. Her white and golden dress fitted her perfectly, revealing her beautiful figure. And her hair was tied into a tight bun, but that wouldn't be noticed of course. Geet smiled as someone knocked the door. It was Vicky.
"Ready?" He asked her and Geet gulped. After a few seconds, she gave a nod. "Great" he smiled and it was very much clear that the guy was uncomfortable in his sherwani.
"Guys, please hold my hand, I can't walk down the stairs with all those eyes on me!" She said as she passed the decorated corridors.
"Don't worry, I'll be there" Priya smiled, looking beautiful in her own blue lehenga.
She finally met the staircase, and looked up, only for a brief second to see that it was very beautifully decorated. Like a palace, with shimmering gold curtains on the walls, and everything decorated with Geet's favorite flowers, roses.
Geet saw the mandap and gasped. The beauty as the fire glowed in the middle. And she walked down, holding her best friend's hand, her gaze lower, and sort of ignoring everyone else's gaze.
Every pair of eyes were on her. Everyone gasped as she entered descended the stairs, admiring her beauty, admiring the couple made in heaven.
She walked over to the mandap, not lifting her gaze and sat where she was supposed to be, beside him. She heard a low whisper, his whisper "You're beautiful'" and she finally lifted up her gaze as the priest chanted the prayers. Meeting his gaze which was still soft.
"This moment is and will forever be ours" he said once again, low enough for only her to hear it. She smiled, and a tear slipped which she immediately wiped.
The slow instructions were said, and Maan picked up what lay in a small steel tray, a mangalsutra and a bottle of sindoor.
Two things that will bind two souls, Geet thought as Maan picked up the necklace and tied it around her neck.
**
Maan and Geet bent down to the feet of their parents, for blessings as the crowd slowly moved towards them, to congratulate them and to bid a farewell to the bride.
They slowly moved towards the gate from which they entered the manor. Geet turned around, one last look of her family, who would probably be there for her but now, she was someone else's.
She sat in the well decorated car, beside him, slowly shedding tears, waving a goodbye to her sisters; Priya and Rajji who were in tears as well. She felt Maan's arm around her shoulder, and she closed her eyes, resting her head on his as the car drove away, with Vicky driving and now her father, Khurana, in the front seat beside the driver's.
**
He entered the room, only to see her fidgeting with her blouse which seemed too tight for her.
"Let me help you with that," he whispered as he came close to her, gently pulling her close to him and running his hand down her bare back.
"Are you sure you've locked the door?" Geet whispered, slowly getting aroused by his touch.
"Well, I wouldn't proceed on to do this to you if I hadn't'" he turned her around, rather fiercely, pushed her against the wall and pulled his lips to hers, in hunger as she moved her hand around his neck, kissing back gently.
He slowly raced his hands down her back, finding the dori which tied the shirt in place and gently pulled it, while his other hand ran down the switch board that was in his reach, turning the lights off.
-Epilogue-
-Just another chapter of our lives-
Two years later
"Ouch!" Geet yelled as she tried to get up and groaned.
"What's wrong Geet?" Maan asked as he strode over to her side, with an ice-cream cup in his hand.
"It hurts! It freaking hurts!" She yelled as Maan made an annoyed expression. This hasn't been her first time.
"Geet, patience, I'm sure our little boy is willing to kick his way out any moment!" Maan replied, sitting beside her on the bed. "Now, here's that ice-cream you demanded"
"You've been saying that for two weeks! I don't want ice-cream now!" She yelled as a little girl, with extremely curly hair entered the room with a lollipop in her hand.
"Muskaan, did you have lunch?" Geet asked, her expressions softening a bit at the sight of her daughter.
"Yes, but mom, I heard you shouting, from like down the yard'" Muskaan replied rather annoyingly in her squeaky little voice. She looked a lot like her mother, and talked like her too.
"Hey there!" Priya crashed open the door, startling all three *or perhaps four* of the people in the room.
"Ouch, he kicked!" Geet said, as she shook her head.
"That boy is really very slow!" Priya shook her head as she walked over to Geet's side.
"Tell me about it," Maan replied, exhaustingly, "I mean, c'mon! Get out!" he almost shouted jokingly to the mountain-like tummy of Geet's.
"He's a tough nut to crack there," Vicky said, entering the room now.
"So-?" Geet asked Priya and Vicky.
"So what?" Priya asked, confused. "You guys got engaged, when are you getting married?"
"THAT is not decided as of now, and seeing your condition Bhabhi, I'm not sure I would want to marry that early," Vicky smiled annoyingly as Priya dug her elbow inside his chest.
"OW, I was kidding" he replied, getting down beside his to-be wife Priya.
"You know, marriage is not as bad as they say it is" Maan disturbed the silence. "Unless, your wife gets pregnant and her delivery delays. She can get real cranky" Maan sighed as Geet threw a stern expression.
"It's not my fault he's not out yet, believe me, the pain is driving me nuts" She ran her hand down her stomach but then smiled as Maan moved close to her, kissing her on her forehead.
"Oh god'" Geet said as she sat upright, "oh god, oh god, oh god!"
"What, what's wrong?" Maan asked, his hands shaking as he saw the color fade from her face.
"I think my water just broke" Geet whispered.
"oh my god, Vicky, get the car, now!" Maan whispered as he helped Geet get up.
"No, I can't walk!" Geet groaned as she closed her eyes.
"Wheel chair, bring the wheel chair!" He ordered to Priya who ran to get one which was his father's.
**
She tried to open her eyes, but the lids wouldn't budge. She was a bit too tired. Geet didn't want to open her eyes, but she wanted to see her baby. The baby boy which annoyed her for quite some time and was right now, probably in his father's arms. She forced open her eyes, as much as they didn't want to and found herself in a white room. Beside her sat Priya, slowly rubbing her cold fingers and Maan stood near the cot, holding a tiny figure that rested in a thick woolen blanket, smiling and kissing it and beside whom stood the grandfather of the child that lay peacefully in the arms of his father. Geet smiled weakly at the sight of them feeling happier than she had been in ages.
"She's awake," Priya called Maan whose head snapped up at the sound of her.
"Geet," Maan called as she tried to get up. "No, rest," Maan gently pushed her back against the pillow.
"But I want to see him." Geet said, helplessly as she pulled out the little thing from Maan's arms. She cuddled him up in her arms and stared at him. The baby looked at her, and tried to touch her face with his tinier than tiny hand. Geet felt overwhelmed with love and affection. His eyes were like those of his fathers and Geet smiled as she placed a gentle kiss on his forehead. The soft skin gentle against her hard lips.
"He looks a lot like you" Geet whispered to Maan.
"Indeed he does" Maan's father, spoke from across the room. "I'll leave for now beta," he said, coming up to her and placing his hand gently on Geet's head.
"See you, dad," She smiled at him as he turned away.
"Is this my little brother then?" A tiny voice came and Geet turned her head to see someone who she had missed.
"Why it sure is" Maan and Geet replied together, smiling at the little boy that lay peacefully beside his mother.
"I love you," Maan whispered in Geet's ear.
"I love you too," she replied, smiling now but weakly.
"Okay Muski, now mommy is tired, let's go for now" Maan said.
"No," Geet protested as she grabbed Maan's hand. "You have to stay with me," she said, her voice weak.
"I'm here Geet," he replied as he signaled Muskaan to go out, which she obediently did.
"I'm tired," Geet replied, her eyelids droopy.
"Then sleep, I'm here by your side. Forever."
