Mr. vs. Mrs. Khurana Round 2:

So, while all the planning and hustle bustle is plaguing the Handa house, and the servants running around cleaning with more vigor, the ladies are in the kitchen cooking some favorite snacks and sweets. They had finally managed to convince Geet to wear the outfit which they had bought for her. All it had needed was Rano mumiji gifting her the outfit saying she wanted to see her wear it, combined with compliments from her sister and bhabhi on how pretty it would look, and to cinch the deal, pouting and insistence from her two very cute nieces.
Now to keep her occupied the ladies insisted on her keeping an eye on her nieces and keeping them away from the kitchen. The girls in the kitchen was a very idea if they wanted to get anything done. Also, they badly wanted to gossip and plan regarding the new jodi, and they could not do that with Geet hovering in the kitchen, insisting on helping them with cooking. So the situation so far in the Handa house, was that the ladies were dressed impressively and busy with last minute preparation in the kitchen, and geet was in the garden playing with her nieces.

Back to our hero, yes he was very confident that Geet was in love with him, yes he knew his plans were falling short so far, and yes this was home turf for her but he had come prepared again. This time the plan was two-fold, so that just incase attempt number 1 failed, attempt number 2 would surely work. Just in case, he had gone home and changed into his lucky clothes, the lucky part, well they had been the clothes he was wearing on Geet's birthday when he realized that he was in love with her. It was his favorite pair of black pants and burgundy shirt.
So he stands in front of her house, waiting for someone to come and open the door. In his hands he holds the notes which he was to give his Geet, they also included plan number 2, a note written by him, lines from him favorite love poem addressed to his love. So as he waits, seemingly unfazed, he was holding (clutching) the notes a bit tightly and sending frequents prayer to Babaji, prayers for everything going well today, prayers that Geet would finally know, prayers that the men of the family were not home so that he would not die a bachelor, and prayers just in general that at least one of the plans worked.
So as he is ushered inside the house by auntiji and made to sit on the sofa, promptly fussed over more than normal by the females present. Our hero though does not notice this overmuch because he is busy surreptitiously (well at least that's what he thinks) looking here and there for our lovely heroine. As the ladies present notice the looking and are busy trying not to snigger at the often cool MSK act this way, they finally take pity on him and ask him for the reason of his unexpected visit and also that the men were out for some work but were expected shortly.
To say that he was relieved, that if anything went wrong at least the men would not be present to give him bodily harm, was an understatement. Finally with the relief reflecting on his face, and to his surprise in a non-stammering voice he makes superfluous excuses and explains his need to see Geet to give her the notes, in his mind continuing that he needs to see her, to hold her, to express his love, to propose to her, and if necessary to go on his knees to ask her to be his beloved and love him and to bear his children.
The ladies point out to him that she was in the side garden with her nieces and that would probably be the best place to find her. For as much as they wanted to tease him, they vowed that the leeway they were giving him now, they would make it up during the wedding ceremonies. They ask him to go ahead and go there. They had done all they could, not it was all up to him.

Walking down the hall, still clutching the notes, he is filled with doubts. Maybe he should have just let the note giving thing to Vicky. His mind wandering as to how the tv and movie hero's did this confession thing all the time, he uses two fingers to wipe the beads of sweat slowly beading on his forehead and neck. Pulling two buttons open at his neck, fighting against the sudden constricting feeling in his throat, he walks out into the garden.
There he finds her swinging her arms around, searching for her nieces. She was blindfolded and playing blindfolded tag with them. He cant help but stop and admire the vision in front of him. The sight held him in a thrall. She was looking perfect, what she was wearing was perfectly showcasing her figure, while her smile and her laughter was perfectly showing her soul. He also cannot help a quick shiver that passes his body and the blood which rushes to his body at picturing her blindfolded and at his mercy in a completely different scenario.
Shaking his head slightly to clear his head and tempering down his reaction to seeing her, he walks further towards her. It is then that he is aware of the extra giggling his presence is creating with his soon to be nieces. Motioning with his hands, asking them to quiet down, he goes to stand only a couple of feet, just barely out of reach of her searching hands, behind where she was currently standing. He waits for her to touch him, to fall into him, he cant believe he was given such a perfect reason to hold her. (well he has the backing of the author in his impossible task, so what can I say)
But, as mentioned earlier, the question would be, does she, Ms. Geet follow the carefully set up situation and use it. Well, hum…. . The answer is No. You see, as I said before she can wreck even the most carefully laid plans. So just as she is close enough to him, instead of moving into his body for an embrace, it's her searching hands which make contact with his chest, literally keeping her at an arms distance from him. Now, as you may imagine, she is very aware of Maan (who wouldn't be) and she can feel him, feel the familiar and disconcerting heat arise between them as soon as she touches him.
Plus, she knows how he smells, a mixture of pure Maan scent (an odd mix of musk and sandalwood) and Armani Black Code. So the instant her hands come into contact with his chest, instead of taking a step forward and *accidentally* falling into him, she snatches her hand back and move a feet back, pulls down the blindfold. (The author was mistaken, seems Ms. Handa was not quite over her embarrassment from the college incident, *silly girl*). Trying hard to keep the flush that had traveled her body to show on her face, she stands with a surprised and confused face before him.
Now the girls lost interest quickly in the new staring and blushing game that the 2 adults seem to be playing, so they are quick to leave them and run to their mom. Not that Geet and Maan notice that. Finally snapping out of their staring, Geet is the first one to move and as soon as she starts moving, she is quick to turn around and walk further into the garden. Keeping her back faced to him, hoping to keep her blushing and stammering down to a minimum, she finally asks him why he was here (obviously, in her haste to turn she does not notice the notes clutched in his hands).
He, of course, is following her. He lengthens his stride a little to catch up to her. Clutching the notes in one hand, he tries to reach out with the other to catch a hold of her and make her stop her. But when has anything ever stop Ms. Handa. Sensing him closing in, and spotting the fountain, she moves a little faster. Going around the fountain and putting a little distance between them, she finally stands facing him from the other side of the fountain.
"Geet, I just brought you the notes from class, here take them". The next few minutes which follow, would be amusing for everyone who looked at it, but they were not so amusing to the 2 people involved. What you ask is so funny, well….everyone must have seen people involved in a doorway tango, or the famous seen in DDLJ, when in attempting to give space to another person to move, neither gets the chance to move, coming in each others path again and again, just imagine that playing out, expect this involved 2 people and a fountain.
Well, when they finally do move in the same direction, of course, that also does not exactly go as planned. But, in a way it's a happy coincidence. So when they finally meet in the middle, it causes Maan's plan number 2 for confession to also become ruined. You see because when they finally meet in the middle, Geet's knees finally follow their customary reaction when she sees Maan. She goes a little weak in the knees. Of course, Maan being the gentleman he is, goes to grab his future bride. And in order to do that, the papers and his love letter which he had been clutching so hard till now, careen out of his hands and in the direction of the fountain. Maan sensing their immediate destination and also attempting to hold onto Geet, loses balance.
And yes, inevitably, instead of just the papers landing in the water, So do Maan and Geet. Not that they are allowed the luxury of helping each other out of the fountain or even to admire each other in their new state because as fate usually has it, Geet's family, including the men, who had chosen only minutes before to come home, come out into the garden as the couple is sitting in the fountain, drenched and laughing.
As imagined, neither Maan nor Geet get to chance to speak after that, as both are promptly ushered out of the fountain, and Maan makes his excuses and leaves. So lets find out the results of round 2 of Mr. vs. Mrs. Khurana. For Mr. Khurana plan #1, a direct confession, the winner is Ms. Geet, as yet again she rendered him speechless, and for the backup plan, unfortunately that one was soaked before it reached it's destination, so again the win goes to Mrs. Khurana by default. To conclude, Round number 2 winner is *drum roll* Mrs. Khurana (the current Ms. Handa)
