Part 33
She had called Maan as soon as her travel arrangements had been made. He was happy that she was finally come back to India even though he wasn't sure for how long, but as the saying went, 'Beggars couldn't be choosers.' She was coming and that was final, they had not discussed where she was going to stay, but knowing her, he as certain that she had probably made arrangements for herself. He didn't want to push his luck, he finally had his daughter and had learnt that sometimes patience was rewarded; he had decided that he would be patient with Geet too and was certain that eventually all would work out.
She stepped out the plane and proceeded towards the conveyer belt that had her flight flashing above; as she waited for her bags she noticed her fellow passengers and their huge suitcases, she smiled thinking how many of them were probably here to visit their families and had come bearing gifts and other things that had probably been requested of them. She on the other hand had just come with one suitcase, India had moved on and she was certain if she needed anything she could buy in India, she saw no point in packing everything you could get your hands on and also deep down she was still scared of what was to come.
Her train of thought was broken as she saw her bag come, she quickly lifted it and made her way through customs and immigration, once her passport was stamped, she proceed out and as soon as she stepped out the airport she bent down and touched the earth she stood one. Some people looked at her with quizzical looks. She smiled at them, the airport although on Indian soil was too sanitized, it was void of everything that gave India it's identity that is why she had waited to take the blessing of India. She looked around for Geeta. She was certain that her daughter would be waiting to receive her, just then she heard her voice.
Geeta, "No Radha, she is supposed to come out this exit."
Radha, "No, I looked at the schedule; she is supposed to come out the other gate."
Geeta, "It is useless arguing with you, you won't listen anyways."
Radha, "Mr. Khurana, why don't you tell her she is wrong?"
Geeta, "Why should he tell me I am wrong, when he knows I am right?"
Maan, "Radha, I think Geeta is right."
Radha, "Of course you are going to take her side."
Maan had come too, it was nice seeing her little family together, she made her way towards them but they were busy arguing, in fact so busy that they didn't even notice that the person they were waiting for was already standing next to them. They stopped arguing when they heard Geet smilingly say, "Radha, for once you are wrong."
Radha smiled, "Well I am glad I was wrong, nice to see you."
Geeta turned swiftly and hugged her mother; it has been a few months since she had seen her and her mother looked as beautiful as ever.
Geeta, "Mamma, welcome to Delhi. You look so good. I am so happy to see you, you are going to stay with Radha and I right?"
Geet, "Meerah pyaara baccha, I missed you so much. You look so thin, are you eating right? Or is your boss just making you work too hard?"
Maan who had been observing his two favourite girls together finally decided to say something, "I fired her as soon as I found out that she was working at Khurana Constructions. I can't have someone who doesn't even know what type of coffee the boss drinks working for me, "he grinned.
Geet, "Great now you are mistreating my daughter too."
Maan, "What do you mean, your daughter, she is my daughter."
Geet, "Who carried her for 36 weeks? Who fed her when she was hungry? She is my daughter."
Maan, "She called me Papa, that makes me her Papa and that makes her my daughter."
Geeta had heard enough, both she and Radha were enjoying this argument between the parents, but it was starting to get late and people were starting to stare. Enough was enough, time for the mature people to step in she thought.
She signalled Radha and as if they could read each other's minds, they started to walk away. Seeing the kids walk away pulled Maan and Geet back to reality. They realized that they were still standing outside the exit and people were staring at them behaving like spoilt kids. Maan grabbed Geet's bag and started to follow the girls.
Once in the parking garage, the girls faced the grown up and rolled their eyes.
Geeta, "You two better learn how to behave in public, that was embarrassing, and you better clean your ears as I need you to listen to what I am about to say."
She looked at Radha who nodded her head saying that Geeta should continue; these two needed a nice lecture.
Geeta, "You two will only be allowed in the car, if you both make a genuine promise that you are going to stop fighting and are going to stop claiming that one loves me more than the other. I don't need this aggravation. I need to focus on my life and studies and not have to be distracted wondering if my parents are behaving like kids."
Maan couldn't believe what he was hearing, now his 19 year old daughter was giving him advise, he was certain that he didn't need this; it was Geet who this was being addressed to.
Maan, "Beta, I am sure your mamma won't disappoint you. I promise for her that she will behave."
Geet, "You what? You are promising for me, I am sure that Geeta was talking to you. She knows very well how I behave. You on the other hand she is just getting to know you."
Geeta raised her voice this time, these two definitely didn't understand a calm voice, why would they? Both were bosses and had never heard anyone tell them what to do in the last 19 years. It was time to start teaching them that there was a new Sherriff in town. Geeta Khurana was here and she was ready to lay down the law. "Stop you both, it hurts that I have to talk like this to my own parents, but you both don't seem to understand human language. Apparently it is time to take drastic measures. Get in the car both of you."
Seeing Maan step towards the driver's door once again Geeta spoke, "Oh! No, Mr. Khurana you shall not drive today, get in the back. Get in the back both of you. While the mature people sit in the front." she yelled.
They could hear anger in her voice, an emotion so foreign to the two of them. Geet had never ever seen Geeta angry or upset. Even as a baby Geeta had never thrown a temper tantrum. As for Maan he had only started getting to know Geeta and he had never seen her angry. Even when he had revealed who he was she had not been angry.
Maan looked at Geet and mouthed to her, "Does she get angry often?"
Geet mouthed back to him, "Never."
This was going to be one great homecoming'.
Note: This is Polki's friend posting for her. I just came over to help her out and she asked me to post what she had written so far. She is really sick and feels terrible that she couldn't entertain you all with this story. She also said she wanted to tell you all...that the update was not complete but she hoped you all would be okay with it...
