Dear Sweet Scorpio,

Thanks, I am happy that I made you happy. Yes finally Maan and Geet face to face. Initially I wasn't going to let that happen at least not for another few parts, but app sab ki buri dasha dekh ke, taras aagayi 😆 Yes, and since I made them meet I had to make sure Maan spoke and found some peace after all these years. No Geet did not scold him, she couldn't because one she was glad to see him too and secondly he told her the truth. Maan and Geet with never loose their charm, I may just end up telling their story as fairy tales when I have kids. 😃 Who needs Cinderella when you have Maneet. Please keep on reading and commenting.

Love,
Polki

My Dear Mahi,

The game is not over meri jaan, abhi to torture shuru hua hain. Polki is not my name, it is a nickname given to me by rushtip. She put together Poli.Geek and made it sweet by making it Polki. Poli.Geek stands for politics geek. Yes, I am a geek and I love politics. 😃
Yes, Geet drove, she learnt a lot of things in the last 18 years she is Miss Independent in the true sense. Plus she knew that Maan wasn't in the right frame of mind and just wanted to take care of him and make sure he was ok. Also it is after all the 21st Century. 😃 As for Maan speaking his mind, I wanted him just to unload everything he felt in the last 18 years. Wanted him to lighten his heart. Mujhe Bakhado means give me some peace. I think that is the best way I can translate it. He said that to Geet in the show when she bought him flowers and he (fighting his own demons wants her to stay away) and she is about to say something, he tells her to be quite and 'mujhe bakshado' (give me some peace) This phrase can be used in different situations too. Keep on wondering about the spoiler meri jaan. 😈 You will just have to read the next part to see what happens. Yes, I was planning to update after a few days but I don't want to beaten up by you that too with your jooties so I may update later on today. Love your comments. ❤️

Dear Soumya,

Aww, thank you, thank you so much for the long compliment. It was so nice to read that you liked my work. You are right the two of them didn't need to say numerous 'I love Yous' to reaffirm their love. Also we have to keep in mind that Geet is in her mid 30s at this point and Maan in his early 40s. Grownups don't say 'I love you' the same way as youngster 😃 You fit into a comfortable knowing what the other person feels so it is not necessary to keep on saying what you feel. I am so happy that you didn't feel the need to cry cause I wanted this part to be tear free, but I was not as successful with some of the other readers. I am just glad it touched them so deeply. As for the more convenient compromise we just have to see what happens. Geet may have just said that to console Maan, although I don't think she would do that but she is very controlling when it comes to Geeta. As for Geeta I just wanted to put a little seed of doubt in her head for now. She may forget it for the time being considering she is going to be really busy at Harvard. Again you just have to keep on reading and making your awesome comments to find out what happens next. I am trying to update everyday if that is possible.

Love,
Polki

oh so geet just said it for the sake of it???? 😲.....awww my maan... uska kya hoga???? 😉...

hmmm.... glad the seed of doubt is planted in geeta's mind. it would not take long for it to grow..!!! 😆..... but whatever it is... lets see what happens...!!! 😃

Part 10

As they pulled up in front of her building on West 27th, Maan turned to Geet and asked if she was hungry. His question broke the silence, they had driven for the last 5 hours without speaking a word. Maan knew that Geet didn't want to talk and he didn't want to push her into something she didn't want to do.

It was past 2am, he was sure that Geet was hungry since she hadn't eaten much at the restaurant actually neither of them had. Geet just shook her head indicating a negative. She didn't want to do anything, she didn't want to go anywhere, she didn't want to eat and she definitely didn't want to speak; afraid that even if tried no words would come out. Now that Geeta was out of the house what was she supposed to do? her entire adult life had revolved around that precious life, she felt lost.

Maan was concerned, he knew exactly what was going through Geet's head. He turned to her and took her hands in his, looking into her eyes, he said"Geet, she is going to be just fine, she is a grown up now and the only responsibility she has is towards herself. She has nothing else to worry about other than her education." He smiled and continued "She is a lucky child to have a great mother like you, but it is time to let her learn to fly."

Geet just stared at Maan, he always knew what was going on with her. She felt violated for a second, nothing of hers' was private where Maan was concerned, not even her most personal thoughts and emotions.

After saying what he had to, Maan started to drive again, Geet looked a little confused and finally he heard something from her "Maan, where are you going? We are home already, where are you driving to?"

Maan, "I am driving to the Four Season." He was precise with his answer and didn't volunteer anymore information.

Geet, "Why?"

Maan, "Because I know that you are hungry cause I am hungry and their 'owl menu' has the best crab cakes you have ever tasted. Room service can sometimes be an amazing thing." Looking at her for a quick second, he continued, "of course that is what I am having, you can order whatever you want."

Geet, "Maan, I could have cooked at home, I need to do something I am not tired at all."

Maan, "Now you say, how was I supposed to know that you weren't tired, plus you never invited me into your home, I wasn't just going to barge in and make myself at home unlike some people." He gave a slight smile.

Geet knew exactly what he was talking about and turned to him and with a stern attitude and said,"Maan turn around, there is no need to go to the Four Seasons specially when you already have a perfectly good home to go to. Plus, ghar walo ko, apne hi ghar mein, koi invited karta hain kya?, you only invited guests and lastly I never barged into your house, Dadi had given me a job and a place to stay, not my fault if people in your family are bad communicators." she took a deep breath, she had managed to say all that without breathing.

Maan smiled contently, he was finally going home. Home in the true sense not the empty shell that he put down as place of residence on forms.

Maan parked the car in the underground parking lot of Geet's building and followed her, it felt strange to him not knowing where to go, he always knew where he was heading but today was different.

Geet opened the door to her apartment. It was quite a sight. It looked like it had been plucked out of an interior decorating magazine. High ceilings; cool, colorful and unique pieces of furniture, a large bookshelf, littered with architecture books and magazines. It was so clean and organized that it looked like a strong sophisticated single woman lived here, however that illusion was soon destroyed when you saw pictures of people smiling and sometimes making crazy faces, little soft toys and teenage paraphernalia taking up space amongst the household items. Geet picking up a Yankees T-shirt from behind the couch looked up at the sky and said loudly,"Babaji, makes sure she takes care of herself."

She still hadn't stopped speaking to Babaji, Maan realized.

Maan who had been taking in the environment finally said,"I am impressed, wow Geet, you have done great for yourself. An apartment in NYC and that too on two levels, grand to say the least."

Geet with a little attitude, "well what did you expect a little tent in the concrete jungle, I unlike you couldn't go away camping. I worked hard for this, you actually inspired me to want a better life and I was determined to make a good living for Geeta, couldn't stay helpless all my life and expect you to come rescue me.", she smiled secretly not allowing him to see, she was happy that he was impressed. She had heard pride in his voice as he had told her how impressed he was.

Maan, "you know I would have."

Geet, "yes I know, but I needed to do this, I needed to do this for us, I had to prove everyone wrong, I wasn't a second class citizen just because I was a girl.(thinking of Hoshiarpur as she said that) I had to set an example for Geeta that she could achieve anything she wanted. I wanted to instill a sense of pride in her."

Maan, "Geet you achieved it, she is a smart and ambitious young woman thanks to you. Tonight she is sleeping in a bed at Harvard, all thanks to you"

He looked at Geet and saw her lips forming a small smile, not wanting to see it disappear he changed the topic."Mujhe bhukh lagi hain, mujhe khana do, please Geet, no boiling water this time" remembering their first day together in the outhouse all those years ago.

Geet smiled and walked into the kitchen and after about 10 minutes, she called out to Maan and said,"set the table, the dishes and silverware are in the sideboard. food will be ready in a few minutes."

Maan, "Huh! tum Maan Singh Khurana ko orders de rahi ho?"

Geet answered, "Nahi, mein apni beti ke baap ko orders de rahi hoon; aur yeh bar bar khud ka naam laine ki kya zaroorat hain, apne aap ko bhul jaane ka dar hai kya?"

It seemed all so natural , the last 18 years seemed to not have happened at all. This is what life would have been like if Geet had never left, Maan thought. They would had fought everyday but it was okay; that is what they did best apart from loving each other. He wanted this everyday but knew better, he wasn't going to approach the topic tonight least she actually threw him out right there an then.

He set the table and just as he was done Geet walked into the dining area with Pizza. Pizza? he looked at Geet questioning her dietary preferences, she knew exactly what he was thinking and looked at the clock directing his eyes there too, "it was 3:30am, what did he expect her to cook?, a 5 course meal. This was what she had whipped up at this time and he could eat it if he wanted or stay hungry, she was suddenly hungry and she was going to eat." All this was conveyed while no words were spoken, they were once again speaking with their eyes. Maan sat down at the table and Geet served him before sitting down. It was magical them sitting right next to each other, having a meal at the same table in such a long time. There was no need to talk just savor, savor the food, the company and the atmosphere.
