UPDATE 5
There was a large foyer in front of them with a high ceiling and a staircase that led up to the second floor. The foyer had three doorways that each presumably led to different rooms of the house. Ridz was so eager to find out where those doorways led that she grabbed Sid's hand and started forward into the house. Just as she crossed the threshold she heard a clang followed by the sound of something spilling. In her eagerness she hadn't bothered to even look down to realize that in her path lie something. When she did she saw a kalash tipped on its side and the contents of what was inside scattered all over the marble floor. In an instant she realized what it was meant for. It was meant for a ghar pravesh. She had unknowingly knocked over the kalash that was meant for someone else's happiness and luck. Immediately, she felt guilty for she had done and started to bend down to gather the contents so that she could replace them back into the kalash so that the person it was meant for wouldn't come home to a doorway without one. As she started to bend she called out, "Sid come on hurry up and help me. We need to get the rice back into the kalash before the real dulhan comes home. Someone had clearly planned a surprise for her and I don't want to be the reason it was ruined." As she started gathering the contents on the floor she started to realize that it wasn't only rice she was picking up, but that there was red chawal mixed in there too. She took a quick glance at the floor again and realized that there seemed to a 50/50 mix of rice and red chawal spread out all over the floor. She slowly turned her head and looked up at Sid.
Sid stood next to Ridz watching her frantically start gathering the rice and chawal off the floor. She was so upset that she hadn't even realized that it wasn't only rice she was picking up. But when she did realize it and then turned to glance across the floor in confusion, he couldn't keep the grin from his face any longer. And that is what she saw when she turned to look up at him and said, "Sid, what who puts rice and chawal in a ghar pravesh kalash ?" Sid crouches down and grabs her arms and gently pulls her up so she is standing and says to her, "A man who wants to surprise his wife with a gift. A man who wants to give her a ghar pravesh for their new home. A man who wants to start off their next chapter in life on the right foot again." With each sentence Ridz starts to get an inkling as to what is going on, but she's afraid to hope. Instead she waits for Sid to continue. "Ridz I drove by this house a while back and as I passed it I just knew that this was where we were meant to be. That this was the place where we would invite friends and family over for Diwali, where our kids would grow up playing cricket in the back field. Where you and I would grow old together spending our evenings on the swing out front." The words Sid spoke directly touched Ridz's heart. He went on, " When I went to figure out what kind of shot we might have at getting the house I found out that the owners wanted to sell the place ASAP and that they wouldn't wait too long before they sold it to first person to offer them a decent price. So I had to act fast and I figured I'd give it a shot if I got it then it was meant to be, if I didn't then I wouldn't have gotten your hopes up for nothing. Well, it looks like it was meant to be ,the owners liked the price I offered and agreed to move out immediately. I know buying a house is a decision we should have made together, but I couldn't let this opportunity slip through my hands. My heart just knew it was what we needed, just like it knew what I needed was you."
Even if Ridz was angry, there was no way she could argue with those words. Because she knew Sid was speaking from his heart. That he had taken such a big risk buying the house without her knowing it, and given his past record with surprises she knew it must have eaten him up alive with constant worry and guilt. So she didn't pretend to be angry, nor did she try to give him a hard time, she simply walked over to him and put her arms around his waist and rested her head on his heart and said, "I love you, Siddhant Modi. This is the best surprise ever, and I am glad you didn't let this opportunity slip through your hands. Just like I'm grateful you didn't let me slip away from you either." Sid wrapped his arms around her and gave a slight squeeze and a kiss on the top of her head. As he started to release her Ridz asked, "I still don't understand the red chawal and rice mix. Did you run out of rice like last time?" To this Sid replied, "No I didn't. In fact there are half bags of both sitting in dabbas in our new kitchen. This time they are there on purpose. See the rice represents the first ghar pravesh we shared where you came into our home as a dulhan. That was your official entry into my home and into my life. The red chawal represents the second ghar pravesh where you came back home because your heart wanted to. Because this time you were coming home to the man you loved. And this third ghar pravesh is meant to be a 50/50 mix of the two. You are not only entering this home as a wife bound by duty and marriage, but you are entering as a woman in love and the owner of my heart." All Ridz could to do as her eyes filled with tears of joy was to respond was sigh and give Sid another squeeze. Sid continued with feigned innocence, "Besides, red chawal is my favorite and rice is yours. What could be more perfect?"
Ridz gives Sid a soft push and separated herself from his arms and starts to take a step inside the house. Before her right foot sets down she hears a female voice tell her to stop. She turns toward the left and sees Sue come from the doorway holding an aarti thaali in her hand and giant smile on her face. "Wait, bhabi we need to do aarti before you can enter." Then with a sly smirk she continues, " Don't you dare steal my five minutes of fame from me. Super boy over there refused to let me do anything except this." Ridz smiled at this woman who had become like a little sister to her during the past year. She always knew what it was like to have an older sister, but she never knew what it felt like being and older sister. She must admit Sue made having a little sister feel like a gift. As Ridz waited for Sue to light the aarti she realized that they weren't the only ones here. She looked towards her right and saw a bunch of people emerge, her Papa and mom, Angie, JP, and Jiggy. Even Abhi and Nikki had come. As she felt the smile on her face grow into a full fledged jaw hurting grin as Abhi called out, "Sid made us come. He said that he refused to take no for an answer and that this was a house warming party. He didn't want to leave that for later, he didn't want you to have to worry about it." Upon hearing these words and seeing all those around her, her heart filled with love not just for these people who were her family and had taken the time out of their busy lives to join her and Sid for a special moment in their lives, but for Sid who had once again gifted her with something she so truly needed but didn't even know it. Who once again proved that he knew her better than she knew herself. As Sue finished up the aarti, and gave her permission to enter the home, Ridz took Sid's hand and clasped it in hers and entered their new home with both of their right feet hitting the floor at the exact same moment...
(FLASHBACK ENDS)
Sid emerged from the flashback with a smile on his face. During that third ghar pravesh he couldn't tear his eyes away from her face. The glow it emitted, the sparkle in her eye, in that moment he knew that there was no other place he would ever want to be and there was definitely no other woman he would ever love. With those thoughts in his head, he turned the key and started to open the door to their home...
