The Pompous Ceremony is a fictional story about two characters in reality. They are well known as Rajat Tokas and Mugdha Chaphekar. In this story, there will be painful, loving and exceptional love but among that heartbreaking, blemishing hate..
The story is set in the thirteenth century where they entire country, India, is surrounded by palaces and half of the population is smothered with rich and royal people. The other half however are not so poor but yet are quite rich but not to the standard of those royal ones..
Among many palaces there was one which was very beautiful. Although many small palaces held a bit of respect in Aryanagar, this gigantic and majestic palace was where biggest palaces were neglected and ignored in front of it...
The city of Aryanagar was ruled by Maharaj Aryawardhan who was chosen to be the heir of the throne. Aryawardhan was a kind and gentle Maharaj who was decent and kind to his people yet his older brother Jaiwardhan who hated anyone less than him and anyone more than his status. They both had a sister named Nivitiri who didn't interfere in their matters..
Part 1
"Nivitiri, what are you saying? I don't understand this..Dharam and Veer are meant to be here for the Puja, why aren't they here?" cried Maharaj Aryawardhan standing from his throne and glaring at his startled sister.
"Bhaiya, I don't know, I will go and see.." Nivitiri stammered as she turned to leave but was stopped by Aryawardhan as he raised his hand. "No, we don't want to waste more time, let's begin the Puja.."
And the Puja began and all this time, Aryawardhan was bolting up with anger as he did everything harshly in the Puja, the priest raised his eyes to stare up at his majesty and knew the cause of his anger but the Maharaj calmed down as he heard the chants he loved..
Meanwhile..
"Dharam! You lost! Don't fake your win..I won.." protested Veer angrily climbing down his horse and looking in the eyes of his mischievous brother. "Dharam..it's usually my category to bother you not yours..?"
"Veer..I am glad you remember your role but seeing from overall to now, it's very clear that you have lost.." Dharam replied coolly as challenge sparked in his dark eyes.
"Fine! We'll rematch..and I'll prove to you that I can beat you quite.." Veer stopped as he spotted a sainik from a distance running and making his way towards them. He immediately recognised that it was a sainik from the palace.
"Rajkumar Dharam, Veer may live! Rajkumar Dharam, Veer, Maharaj Aryawardhan is very angry that the Rajkumars could not make it to the Puja held today in the great chamber..and so the Puja has began and finished..now Maharaj is waiting for both the Rajkumars in the great chamber of punishment.." the sainik informed bowing and stepping to a side.
"Dharam, you are in dilemma now.." Veer warned looking at Dharam forgetting all about his challenge.
"So are you, Veer.." Dharam replied looking in distance at the small palace which actually looked small from such distance. "Let's go back.."
"Otherwise we might just get a punishment.." Veer shuddered at the thought of getting hanged and beaten which was worse than getting his ears twisted.
The Rajkumars were galloping back to the palace. Although they were only a few miles away they decided to take the long path to allow Aryawardhan to cool down. The long way was a way from the forest to the market and then to the palace area..
"Dharam, I am telling you, I think we should turn back and go straight to the palace without any delay.." Veer shouted over his shoulder as he rode his horse.
"No Veer, I want Pitajee's anger to cool down.." Dharam puffed trying to catch up with Veer's horse but suddenly it came to a halt. Veer climbed down and stood in the path of Dharam's horse. It immediately halted and Dharam began to climb down.
"Veer, why stop?" Dharam asked facing him. Good that he had stopped, Dharam thought smiling a little.
"Dharam, I hear that there is an archery arena nearby..and many brave archery players come and prove it but no one has ever beaten a girl called Shera.." Veer blabbered desperately an interest on his face showing clearly. "There is a match between Shera and a boy called Tasha, let's go see it please!"
"Okay, I suppose, there is no harm in going to see it..and besides the longer we stay out the better.." Dharam agreed climbing his horse as Veer had already climbed it and galloped with Veer to the archery arena.
"Shera! Shera! Shera!" cried the crowd as they were cheering for the brave girl who had half her face hidden and her hair covered by a turban. She had a black robe covering her from shoulders to toe. Shera was holding a bow and arrow aiming in the position of the parrot's eye. Dharam and Veer arrived and spotted the situation. They sat in the first row and stared ahead at the girl and boy who were aiming for the eye.
Suddenly as they heard the sign of releasing their arrow, Shera released it and it hit straight in the eye yet Tasha's one was far off the corner.
"Shera! Shera! Shera!" cried the crowd. Everyone clapped and cheered as the girl placed her bow down on the table nearby and looked at the disappointed boy.
"Next time, do not challenge Shera. Now get out of here otherwise you won't see today's sunset.." Shera cried silencing the crowd and Tasha nodded and existed the arena. She turned to leave when suddenly she was stopped.
"I can beat you!" cried Veer standing up. Shera turned and looked at the boy who was sitting in the crowd.
"What did you say?" she hissed looking at him in the eyes. "Who are you, and you are challenging Shera?"
"Yes. I am certain I can beat you!" Veer replied climbing over the railings and walking towards her.
"Fine. Shera accepts your challenge," Shera replied picking up her bow and placing another arrow in the string.
"What will I get for beating you?" Veer asked not moving and only staring at her uncertain eyes. Shera looked at him as if he had punched her in the stomach. He surely had too much confidence and ego in him.
"Anything you want.." Shera replied looking away from his fascinated eyes. "But don't get your hopes too high, no one has ever beat Shera.."
"Oh, so if I get the arrow in the middle what will I get?" Veer repeated now changing his decision, he knew he couldn't beat Shera.
"Anything you want," Shera replied. She was now aiming. Veer picked up a bow and placed the arrow in the string. They both aimed and heard the signal for shooting. They obediently struck the arrow in the middle. Shera was amazed so she placed her bow and turned to him.
"Fine, what do you want?" she asked harshly not one bit embarrassed. "Hurry up, Shera has to return home before sunset.."
"I want to see your beautiful face.." Veer replied mischievously. Shera glared at him and then at the crowd, nervousness shining in her beautiful big eyes.
"I can't do that. Ask anything else.." Shera replied. How dare this boy ask to see her face, she felt like thrusting an arrow in his chest but it was against her wordings.
"Fine..if you can't do it, I will do it.." Veer replied stepping forward and reaching for it but Shera backed away quickly. She ran away as fast as she could not caring about being scared..the last thing she wanted to do was show her face to a stranger..
