Chapter 3
Leaving those days behind
Nupur and Gunjan caught a taxi at the main road, and had now reached the lawyer's place.
He greeted them at his gate, he was in his night dress.
"My dear…wats happening?" he questioned concerned, staring at the taxi, and the luggage propped inside.
Nupur ignored his question.
"Mr Kohl, I hope u have arranged for everything I asked u to" she asked in an urgent tone.
"yes yes" Mr Kohl interrupted.
He opened his suitcase and handed her a file "here are the papers of bhushan house and the details of your bank accounts" Nupur nodded taking the file.
"I tried to sell the land at 30 lakhs, but could get only 25, I transferred that amount in the bank account" he continued.
"never mind that sir" nupur was busy placing the file in her bag.
"You and your sister are leaving?" he asked curiously.
"I appreciate ur help, but i cant tell you" nupur replied in a soft tone, not wanting to offend him.
"I understand" He pulled out a black pouch from his suitcase "as u asked, Rs 50.000 in cash"
Nupur took the bag.
"thnx, u don't know wat u have done sir, I really appreciate this, I cannot thank u enough" nupur said earnestly.
"No no don't thank me, this is very less compared to what ur father did for me" Nupur smiled though the pain was evident in her eyes.
"beta ur father always said, hardwork and strong will always give a fruitful result, success will be with u"
Nupur nodded and touched his feet to take his blessings.
"thank u sir" Nupur hurried back to the taxi and got seated.
"di woh kaun the?" gunjan asked.
"Gun main tujhe sab bataongey par yahan nahin" nupur replied staring at the taxi driver.
"par di hum mu"
"gunjan!" nupur scolded."chalo bhaiya"
Gunjan looked away.
"gun" nupur softened and signed gunjan to understand that she didn't want to say anything infront of the driver. Gunjan smiled assuring her sister that she understood and was sorry for her mistake.
Nupur held gunjan's hand and sighed, as the lump formed in her throat…this was it…they were going to leave morena forever….there was no coming back.
Only memories were left..memories of her, gun and bauji.
Nupur sniffed and blinked hard to avoid tears, just when she felt gunjan squeeze her hand.
"Everything will be fine" gunjan tried to smile, but couldn't, here voice came out forced, as if trying to calm herself.
Nupur nodded in response."yes gun, this is our new start"
At the Station
"Gunjan yeh paise lo…aur Mumbai jaane wali train ke do ticket khareed le, main yahi wait karoongey" Gunjan squirmed a bit, but then left with the money in her hand, she had to learn..learn to do stuff on her own.
Nupur stared at gunjan's retreating back, she sighed and headed to the phone booth nearby.
She dialed the same number and prayed to god.
"Hello"
"Hello su" nupur started but was cut off by suhani.
"thank god tune mujhey phone kiya!! Yaar tune jo kaha tha maine kiya….head se baat karli…aur baki arrangements bhi,.. ab tu jawaab de tu Mumbai aise achanak se kyun aa rahi hai?"
"main baad main" nupur tried to interrupt but suhani cut her off again.
"baad main kab? yeh bhi koi baat hui nup's? Thodi der pehley phone pe yahi kaha tha…tu abhi bata, meri jaan nikal gayi teri fikr karte hue..na koi phone, na koi message, online bhi nahin aaye"
"suhaani" nupur spoke but her voice trembled on the verge to crack
"nups?" suhani stopped rambling, now concerned. "sorry, tujhe bolne ka moka hi nahin diya
, tu to jaanti hai na mujhe..sorry"
Nupur cleared her throat "haan, jaanti hoon tujhe"
"kya hua?" suhani asked her, now serious, nupur's tone had said it all..said that something was seriously wrong.
"woh...su main aur gun station main hain, train pakadne wale hain...tu aaegey? Mumbai Station?" nupur asked.
"yeh bhi koi poochne ki baat hai nup's, ofcoz aaongey,kaunsi train?"
"pata nahin, gun gaye hai ticket lene"
"achha phone karke batana, par tum aur gunjan, tere bauji?" suhani asked confused.
"Tu aaegey na, tujhe tab bataongey, abhi main rakhti hoon" nupur answered.
"oke nupur"
Nupur ended the call, and stood at the previous place where she had promised to meet gun.
Suhani was her online friend.
Nupur had seeked to take online courses in fashion designing, She had been a frequent viewer of suhani's blog and henceforth their friendship took shape and slowly they became best buds, they had similar like and dislikes, like SRK's craziest fans, both interested in fashion designing, loved to gossip abt films and superstars and also had similar ways of looking at life.For Nupur it was like she had found her soulsister.
Though all this nupur did without the permission of her father, he never agreed with the concept of online friendship, he had told her that if she was interested in befriending people then there were always enough people in morena, he had also never agreed to nupur's dreams of becoming a fashion designer, he considered her too young and nave for a field as such.
Later in the train
"Di, ab to batao" gunjan requested.
Nupur held gunjan's hand and told her about her meet with the lawyer, as to how she found out tht their Bauji had left the two all his earnings in a bank account named as theirs. She expressed as to how she didn't want to leave gunjan alone, it was not abt the guy, bui had searched for her at all, she didn't want to marry because marriage meant separation, and that would be the last thing on earth she would do.
"Gunjan I cant leave u with bui at a time like this, Bauji told me to take care of u, n I promised."
"di, hum Mumbai kyun ja rahe hain?" gunjan asked.
"gun tujhe yaad hai, jab main tujhe cybercaf le jaati thi" Gunjan nodded "mujhey ek aur behen mili…online… suhani, woh Mumbai main rehti hai, mujhey pata nahin main sahi kar rahi hoon ya nahin, lekin main yeh shaadi bilkul bhi nahin karna chahti thi, jab maine su ko bataya, to usne to kaha ki main ….bauji se baat karon, par bauji woh to ab hai hi nahin" gunjan shifted closer to nupur and hugged her from the side, she placed her chin on her shoulder, nupur continued "pata nahin kyun, par maine faisla kiya ki hum Mumbai jaengey, wahan rahengey, morena se door, bui se door, sirf hum donon, ek achhi aur naye zindagi ki shuruaat, gun…maine theek kiya na?" nupur asked, fear had gripped her wat if in this sudden decision of hers, she was not helping rather making situations worst? She didn't care about her own life, but what bothered her was that gunjan's life was now linked to her decisions, her actions will be responsible for gun's fate.
Gunjan tightened her grip around Nupur and closed her eyes, she was exhausted, tired of everything, just few days back she was at home, having food with her bauji and di, smiling and talking about day-to-day things, and today, they were leaving for Mumbai, she knew that this was the last, they would never come back to morena, this was the final GoodBye to her birthplace.
"I trust you di" she whispered.
Nupur closed her eyes, and felt her eyelids burn, she was tired, she wanted to sleep… in her bauji's lap.She opened her eyes again, Gunjan's words were enough for her to move on with her decision. She caressed gunjan's cheek and sighed.

As to gunjan's char, well she's reserved which is why i havent been writing her pov, but once in mumbai she will have to take her own decisions u will get equal of her then:)
