Rachna! This was the best part ever!

I loved Nupur's inner conflict and I am glad she decided to go after all.. Adi is such a sweetheart. He is living up to the reputation Adis in my life have. LOL Her dress decision was SO cute!

Coming to the reunion, you built up to that brilliantly! I feel excited. Almost like I am there too. All her friends - Nisha, Aishwarya - and the girls swooning over Mayank - Ah! Realism at its best. Its humanly impossible to resist Mayank.

The flashback was again absolutely real. I can imagine how terrible Nupur must have been feeling.. Flunking an exam? God forbid. Tears would just be the beginning.. Plus it was so like Mayank to not ask her directly. Ha ha.. 'smile suits you". Man, someone's born with the learn-to-flirt gene. It was interesting btw, to have an Arjun in the story. :P

Rachna I must tell you, you are an exceptionally talented writer. Do keep pursuing ur passion and churning out such amazing work for us to read.. I positively adored this chapter!!

Yeah, Nupur surely was in a dilemma, but then again, she cannot keep running away. So she had to attend the reunion.

Aww, I'm glad the reunion part was realistic, since i never really attended a reunion, cuz im still in school, but yeah, I read one of Sidney Sheldon's book, and he had described the reunion pretty well, so I've taken tips from him.. hehe.

Yep, the flashback was again my personal experience. i thought i would flunk, but i didn't luckily. =)
Oh yeah, Mayank wouldn't ask Nupur directly. hehe. Oh, he IS a flirt in this FF of mine.

what can i say abt the update yaar......it as usual awwesum.....

i just love ur flawless writing always....

i love the way u describe each n every scene with soooooo much n perfect emotions in it.....soooooooo perfect.....

i loved the way how nups was not sooo excited abt the reunion but the tanvi was....n she packed for her.....n forced her to wear white gown....just loved tanvi....she soooo adorable....n aditya is also sooooooo sweet...i loved aditya n tanvi's convo...short bt it rocked...

i like the way you put in the situation of nupur's coming back to india n her thoughts when she came....n the FB she thought of her practicals.....i could feel it....n in the reunion nupz's feelings u portrayed were awwesum...any girl who is in such situation would have the same feelings....how do u write soooooooo perfect yaar....

i love it when mayank couldn't take his gaze off her....

n then when she saw him,though ten long years have passed, she just started to think of his smile, his behaviour,his eyes evrything....she lost her control on her heart..that moment was soooooooo touching...the one u loved n still love him ,u r watching him after ten yrs......i really loved the way she noticed evrything....

n the hug was unexpected and awwesum....sooooooo nice....

Chapter 4:

"Hi Nupur." Mayank said softly. Nupur blinked in surprise. She slowly got up from her seat, and continued to look at Mayank. She finally managed a faint smile back at him.

"Hi" Nupur said her voice shaky.

Mayank's next actions took both of them by surprise. He leaned in closer to Nupur, and hugged her tightly.

Nupur was stunned. Mayank Sharma was hugging her? Why? How? When? Was this her imagination, or was this actually happening? This night couldn't have gotten any crazier than it already had.

She didn't know how to react. She could feel the blood gush up to her cheeks as she felt Mayank tighten his hold around her waist. Nupur slowly lifted her arms, and placed them lightly around his waist.

Mayank didn't know why he hugged Nupur. He just knew he did it on an impulse. But why would he do such a thing even on an impulse? He was always very planned and organized, then why was he beginning to do things on an impulse? But strangely, he felt really good to have her in his arms. He simply tightened the hug.

Nupur was lost beyond words. She had no clue what was going on. But one thing was certain that she was being hugged by Mayank Sharma, and she had no freaking idea as to why he just did that.

Nisha was unable to believe what she was witnessing. Mayank and Nupur were hugging each other? Mayank Sharma, actually hugged her best friend Nupur Bhushan? This was getting confusing beyond words. She simply blinked at the two, her jaw dropped open in surprise.

Mayank suddenly realized what he was doing. He mentally kept kicking himself. Dude, what is wrong with you? You're hugging Nupur Bhushan? What has gotten into you? He abruptly pulled away from the hug, leaving Nupur all the more confused. Mayank tried to avoid her gaze, and turned to look at Nisha who was still staring at the two of them. Mayank suddenly thought of an idea to avoid the awkwardness, and hugged Nisha.

"It's great to see you guys" he said, pulling away from the hug.

Nisha was more than startled when Mayank hugged her. This guy is completely nuts, she thought. She looked back at Mayank and smiled at him. "Yeah, it's great to see everyone after ten long years." she then turned to look at Nupur.

Nupur was nervously looking around here and there, trying her best to avoid looking at Mayank. Nupur suddenly felt Nisha's gaze on her and she turned to look at her. Nisha had a questioning look on her face, to which Nupur simply smiled back. "Yeah, it is great to see you guys after such a long time."

"Where were you? I mean, I was in touch with Nisha and the others for a while, but you completely disappeared." Mayank asked, but instantly bit his tongue. He really needed to stop doing things out of an impulse.

"Uh, actually, I just needed a break from Mumbai." Nupur replied, looking down at her dress.

"That's right; she needed a break from everything in fact. Let's go Nupur? Aishwarya and the others might be waiting." Nisha added quickly, and grabbed her friend by her arm and walked away from there. Mayank stared back at the two of them, and shook his head in confusion and amusement.

Nupur was busy talking to a few of her friends, when she turned around and saw Mayank talking to a girl. She looked at the two of them with utmost curiosity, wondering who that girl was. She suddenly realized who the girl was. She was the girl I bumped into in the airport. Whoa, one arrogant girl she was. But what is she doing with Mayank? Are they going out--- Stop Nupur, what do you think, he cannot go around with any other girl? He's so freaking handsome, hot, his hair is so soft, any girl would just die to move her fingers through them. His smile is to die for. And--- stop stop stop!

"Nupur!" Nisha said loudly, jerking Nupur by her shoulders. Nupur suddenly snapped back to reality. She had been daydreaming ' Again.

"Yeah," Nupur responded, quickly moving her gaze and looking back at Nisha.

"Who were you looking at?" Nisha asked, raising her eyebrow.

"Uh, n-no one." Nupur replied quickly. "Oh, by the way, you didn't tell me you guys were in touch all these years?"

"Uh, I could tell you only if you were in touch with us." Nisha said, stretching on the 'you'. "And besides, it was just a mere co incidence that we ended up in the same college."

"Wow, so you guys were in the same college?" Nupur said, mentally rejoicing that she was successful in diverting the topic. That was one good thing with Nisha. She could easily get distracted.

"Are you trying to divert from the original topic?" Nisha asked suspiciously.

Nupur bit her lip. "Er, n-no. I'm really curious to know."

"Nupur, you know you cannot lie. So why try?" Nisha asked. "You were looking at Mayank, weren't you?"

Nupur nodded faintly. "Yeah. And I know it's a lost cause trying to lie to you."

"Why are you doing this to yourself Nupur? I thought you would have moved on." Nisha said.

"You don't understand. It's difficult to get over him. I, I just don't know what to do!" Nupur said, her eyes getting moist.

Nisha noticed Nupur's moist eyes. "Okay, we'll not discuss this anymore. We're here to enjoy, and we will enjoy." Nisha slowly patted Nupur on her shoulder. Nupur looked back at her and smiled.

"I don't want to hear another word from you, get it?" Mayank said, crossing his arms across his chest.

"But bro'" the girl tried to reason, but to no avail. "This was supposed to be my vacation! Thanks for ruining it!"

"Look Gunjan, I know you wanted to go on that trip, and I would have allowed you, had Samrat not been coming." Mayank said, softening down a little.

"And what problem do you have with Samrat?" Gunjan asked.

"He is not a nice guy. And besides, it was your rotten idea that I attend this stupid reunion. I would have been better off at home." Mayank said.

"Excuse me, what has my suggesting you go to the reunion got to do with my trip being cancelled?" Gunjan asked.

"It has a lot to do! Now stop annoying the hell out of me. You are not going, and that's final." Mayank said sternly.

"You suck as a brother!" Gunjan muttered angrily and stormed off from there.

Mayank just stood there, looking at Gunjan walk away angrily. He simply sighed. "What is wrong with you today Mayank!"

"Look Samrat, you just do as I say. I want to see you here in the next half an hour, get it?" Gunjan spoke into her phone, while walking towards the washroom.

Nupur was headed in the opposite direction as Gunjan, and ultimately bumped into her.

"What the...." Gunjan muttered furiously, looking up at the person who just bumped into her. She recognized the person instantly. "Oh, it's you again!"

Nupur looked back at Gunjan. She was the same girl whom Nupur spotted with Mayank just a few moments back. "Uh, I'm really sorry."

"Better be" Gunjan snapped. She then looked at Nupur, and suddenly recollected Mayank talking to her. "Hey, by any chance, are you my brother's friend?"

"Brother?" Nupur asked, looking confused.

"Uh sorry, I mean, Mayank." Gunjan corrected. "He's my brother."
"Mayank is your brother?" Nupur asked, stretching out on the brother. The shock on her face was quite noticeable.

Gunjan stared back at Nupur, looking confused. "Yeah, he's my brother."

"So, you are Gunjan?" Nupur asked, looking a little relieved.

Gunjan nodded. "Yeah, I am. How do you know anyway?"

"Uh, Mayank had spoken about you back in school." Nupur said.

"Really?" Gunjan asked happily. "So you know my brother!"

"Uh, yeah." Nupur said, confused at Gunjan's reaction.

"Great, so could you do me a favor?" Gunjan asked, looking expectantly at Nupur.

"I hope it doesn't include lying to your brother or something. I'm a terrible liar." Nupur laughed.

"Uh, actually, it does include lying. Look, you have to do this for me. Please?" Gunjan requested.

Nupur didn't know what to say. Helping Gunjan would mean lying to Mayank. There were two risks involved in this. For one, she knew really well she could not lie, and two, especially if Mayank was the concerned subject.

"Will you?" Gunjan asked impatiently.

After a long debate within herself, Nupur finally spoke up. "Okay fine, I will."

"Great!" Gunjan exclaimed happily, and hugged Nupur.

Nupur pulled away from the hug and looked back at Gunjan. "But what do I have to do?"

"Okay, all you need to do is keep my brother occupied. Don't let him think about where I have disappeared. If he does ask, you just say I'm in the washroom. But just make sure he doesn't get too inquisitive." Gunjan explained.

"But how am I supposed to keep him occupied?" Nupur asked.

"I don't know. Talk to him, crack jokes or dance with him for all I care! But please do this for me." Gunjan said.

Nupur nodded helplessly. "I'll try my best."

"Thanks" Gunjan said and then rushed from there.

Nupur returned to where the party was. She looked around, and was surprised to see everyone dancing with their respective partners. She saw Aishwarya dancing with Raj, and a huge smile lit up her face to think that these two were still together. She slowly went up to a chair and sat down and continued to watch everyone else dance and enjoy themselves. "Looks like you're the only one who's so gloomy Nupur." She sighed.

She suddenly felt someone sit down beside her, but she didn't bother to look. She was lost in her thoughts, when she felt someone tap on her shoulder lightly. She turned around and saw Nisha standing there, looking at her.

"What are you doing sitting here?" She asked.

"Uh, watching you guys dance." Nupur replied.

"Why are you watching? Come on and join us." Nisha said, pulling Nupur by her arm.

"Come on Nisha, you guys are dancing with partners, and I don't have a partner." Nupur tried to reason.

"Who cares about a partner? Come on now." Nisha said, and grabbed Nupur by her arm and took her to the dance floor.

Nisha went to her partner and whispered something in his ear, while Nupur looked around the dance floor awkwardly. She spotted Mayank from a distance, and instantly looked back at Nisha to avoid looking at him.

"What are you waiting for? Come on Nupur." Nisha said.

Suddenly the soft beat track switched to a fast and upbeat track, and Nisha winked at Nupur. "Remember our disco dandiya?"

Nupur smiled back at Nisha. "Of course I remember."

"Then let's get started." Nisha said, and dragged Nupur along with her to join the group.

Nupur joined the others in the dance, and suddenly felt dj vu hit her. She recollected the times she used to dance like this with her friends during dandiya. Those were such fun filled days. She suddenly missed her school days. She missed the way they used to bunk lectures, the way they played pranks on other students, and mostly, she missed that one friendship which ended so abruptly -- and it was all her fault.

Mayank saw Nupur dancing and enjoying herself with the others. But for some reason, that spark from her face was missing. She didn't seem as lively as she used to, back in seventh grade. She looked more conscious about herself, and somehow he didn't know why, but he seemed to blaming himself for all of it. He was immature back in seventh grade to have understood anything. But as he grew up, he realized the mistake he made. He understood why he never had any best friend back in school. He suddenly wished he could go back in time and make everything alright. But if only that was possible.

Mayank slowly got up from his seat, and headed towards the dance floor. So what if he couldn't go back in time, he could definitely try and make up for his mistake. He slowly walked up to Nupur, who was dancing happily and tapped her lightly on the shoulder.

Nupur slowly turned around and saw Mayank standing there, looking at her with an unreadable expression. She didn't know how to react, so she just smiled at him. "Hey, Mayank."

"Hey" Mayank said. He hesitated for a moment, and looked around everywhere and then finally fixed his gaze on Nupur. "Uh, would you mind a dance?"

Nupur blinked at him in surprise. First, he hugged her, and now he was asking her for a dance. What was up with this guy? Nupur suddenly thought about Gunjan. If she agreed, this would keep Mayank distracted. She slowly sighed and looked up at him. "Sure".

Mayank brought out his hand to Nupur, which Nupur readily took. She slowly walked beside him to the center of the dance floor.

Nisha and the others noticed this and Nisha couldn't help but feel annoyed. Mayank never showed any interest in Nupur back in school, so what had gotten into him now? She knew that now it would be very hard for Nupur to get over him. Arjun, Raj and Aishwarya noticed this too, and went and stood beside Nupur.

"Did I just see Mayank asking out Nupur for a dance?" Aishwarya asked in disbelief. Nisha simply nodded her head.

"That's great news then. I'll go and talk to the DJ" Arjun said, and grabbed Raj along with him and went to speak to the DJ.

Aishwarya noticed Nisha's worried expression and placed her hand on her shoulder. "What's wrong Nisha?"

"Nupur still hasn't gotten over him. She still loves him" Nisha said, and looked at Aishwarya.

Aishwarya didn't know what to say. She knew for one that Nupur still loved him, but then why was Mayank behaving so strangely? "What do we do now?"

"There's nothing we can do" Nisha sighed. "Let's just hope Nupur won't take all this in the wrong way".

Nupur and Mayank stood a little away from each other, looking around awkwardly. Mayank didn't know how to take a step forward, and Nupur was too nervous to take the first step. The music suddenly died out, and everyone around them began yelling at the DJ.

"Okay guys, sorry for stopping the music so abruptly." The DJ said quickly, and the pointed towards Arjun who was standing beside him. "But this guy here has requested me to play some soft romantic songs. So here goes, guys"

The music suddenly began, and everyone began cheering. The lights slowly dimmed out and everyone started dancing with their partners.

Nupur suddenly realized what song it was. The song was Khuda Jaane which was Nupur's all time favorite song. Even after ten years, this song had the same effect on her like it had ten years back. The only difference was that ten years back, this song made her happy, but now, it did nothing but make her cry.

Mayank noticed Nupur's sudden change in expression and was confused. He slowly moved an inch forward, and held out his hand to Nupur. Nupur looked up at him, and gently placed her hand in his. Mayank slowly put his arm around her waist and pulled her closer. Nupur could feel her heart thumping loudly, but she tried to control herself. She slowly placed her hands around his neck, and they started swaying to the music.

"I'm sorry Nupur" Mayank said, as he turned her around.

Nupur looked at him, confused. "Why are you apologizing?"

Mayank shook his head. "I know I should have apologized long back, but I never realized it until now."

"Mayank, what are you talking about?" Nupur asked him.

"Nupur, I'm sorry for everything I've done. I hope you have no grudges against me. Whatever I did ten years back was all because of my immaturity."

Nupur swallowed the big lump that had formed inside her neck. "You don't need to apologize for anything." The tone in which she said it sounded a little rude.

"Why are you being rude?" Mayank asked.

"I am not being rude Mayank. I'm just being honest, that's it." Nupur clarified.

"Fine" Mayank replied. The two of them remained silent till the song ended. Nupur slowly pulled away, and began walking back to her friends when Mayank called out to her. "Nupur?"

Nupur turned around and looked at him. "What?"

"It was good to meet you." Mayank said and smiled. "I assume you're going to stay in Mumbai now?"

Nupur shook her head. "Nope. I'm leaving tomorrow."

"Fine, then maybe this is the last time we'll be meeting." Mayank said and moved towards Nupur. He hugged her and quickly pulled away. "It was really good to meet you Nupur. I honestly mean it."

Nupur managed to smile back. "Me too."

Mayank then turned around and walked away from there.
Nupur suddenly realized what just happened. She was actually being blunt with Mayank. When the heck did she learn to do that anyway?

Mayank was halfway through the dance floor, when he turned around and looked at Nupur. He suddenly realized that Gunjan was missing. He quickly walked up to Nupur and tapped her on her shoulder. "Nupur, by any chance do you know where my sister is?"

Nupur turned around to look at him. "Your sister?"

"Yeah, Gunjan. Did you see her around?" Mayank asked.

Nupur bit her lip and looked around nervously. Now what was she supposed to say to him? She knew she couldn't lie. Why on earth did she ever agree to help Gunjan out? She seriously was in trouble now.

such a lovely update...!! The hug was so impulsive and sopntaneous..!! LOL....i bet even mayu didn't know what he was doing..! hehe...

I'm really liking how he's being so impulsive..! LOL first the hug now the dance..!! uff....that dane was so romantic...!! none of them expected to dance to a slow song...hehe

but i'm still confused as to why he was feeling guilty....what did he do in school that made him feel like that..? maybe i missed it.....😕

Gunjan and sam are shown so differently here than in the show..! LOL...and mayu doesn't approve of his sis dating sam...!! LOL

Loved the mayur scenes in this one totally..!!

soo nupur's going back to mumbai na...?? i'm wondering how will they meet again..!!

wow.........this was the best update of urs till date ⭐️ i love mayank's impulsive actions 😳 so do keep on adding them 😳 and ya the part was awesome...... 👏 do keep on updating....this and ur other ff too......u r an awesome writer.......seriously.......and i mean it....... 👏 and i am glad that mayank hugged her twice 😳 but she was looking gorgeous in her white dress.......mayank wud have never seen her like that........love u for this update and do keep updating.........
