Sunday morning hit and it was time to go back to UIUC. Kripa was awake and ready before anyone else. She saw the time and started waking the girls up. Tiffany was the most difficult person to wake up. The girls soon started getting ready.
Kripa called Justin's cell phone and nobody picked it up. She sighed. She went and knocked on the door. She got very frustrated as nobody opened it. Kripa started pounding it when a bleary eyed Dev opened the door.
'Good morning. It's time for all of you to get up. We have to leave within the hour. We also have to go for breakfast!' Kripa smiled at Dev who let her in the room.
'Hey yourself. Wake these two up as well. I don't know how well you'll be able to do that but knock yourself out.' With a huge yawn, Dev trudged to the bathroom.
Kripa saw both the beds on which the figures were lying down on with the covers on their heads. She saw Justin's phone and moved towards him. She contemplated as to how she should wake him up. She walked closer to him and started tickling him through the blanket. 'Time to wake up! Wake up, Justin,' Kripa laughed.
Suddenly, Justin's figure grabbed her hands through the blanket and pulled her towards her. He then rolled on the bed with her, pinning her down. His blanket slid down from his face and Kripa gasped on seeing Angad. Angad looked into her eyes and got lost in them. Kripa too was mesmerized by Angad's eyes. She came back to her senses and pushed him away.
She started shaking in anger, 'How dare you? How dare you?' With her temper riding high, she left the boys room.
Angad got up with a start. What just happened here? He was having such an amazing dream and then he felt someone touching him. He just did that to stop the touching so that he could continue with the dream. But now he had just pissed Kripa off.
He hurried behind her and scanned the area. He saw her walking towards the hotel lobby and ran behind her. 'Kripa, wait! Kripa!'
He caught up with her and she whirled, 'No, don't even think about it. Look, I'm in a temper right now so it's better we don't talk right now or I'm going to say things that are hurtful.'
'At least listen to me. I was sleeping and didn't know what I was doing!' Angad tried to explain to Kripa. She glared at him and walked off.
Angad dejectedly walked back to his room. His mood suddenly changed. He stomped in the empty bathroom silently seething. He hadn't done anything wrong. It had simply been an accident. What did that woman think of herself anyways? It wasn't as if he was interested in her or anything.
He stepped into the shower and sighed. Fine, he was interested in her. Sort of. She just looked like such a mass of contradictions that it was just too endearing. When he first saw her, he had felt her irritation but he didn't react to it. When she had hugged him, he was about to hug her but she had quickly stepped back. When she was opening to him about her life, she had simply shut down. It was as if she was longing to connect to someone, but imposing self restrictions. And that was too damn irresistible.
He shrugged. She didn't have to react that way. Angad's temper spiked again. Did she think that she was a princess or something? Did she think he was in the mood for games? He liked women, but hated it when they started playing games.
They all headed back to UIUC and not a single word passed between them. Kripa's friends noticed a subtle difference in their behaviors but did not pass any comment.
Days rolled into days and several months passed. Everything was going fine and Dev and Angad became very good friends with the group. They did almost everything together. The only thing that baffled them all was that Angad and Kripa were avoiding each other like the plague. It was as if they were pretending that the other did not exist.
