In the spirit of Independence Ruprekha - She visited the dhobi ghat in Mumbai. She washed clothes with them and stressed on dignity of labour. This was truly India where everyone seekes a living and contributes to building a greater nation. Rex - He visited a fishing village. Though he could not catch any fish he was totally at home selling the catch. Mona - In keeping with her nature, this gentle girl visited the glorious flower market of Mumbai. With flowers tucked behind her ears she walked through the flowers enjoying the colours and fragrances of India. Arijit - he had a great time savoring the street food of Mumbai. He also tried his hand at making 'Pao Bhaji'. The same food item has different names in different parts of India take gol guppa, it also goes by the names of puchka and pani puri. Such is the unity in the diversity, says Arijit. Arpita - She went to the masala market and felt that it matched her nature - which was both sweet and spicy. Masalas reflect the true tradition of this rich and diverse land. Qazi - His dream came true when he visited the film city. This star struck youngster interviewed a poster painter who has been at this job for the last 35 years. The struggle and glory of the industry really reflects in India, he says. Shamit - He enjoyed one of India's favourite pass times - guli cricket, with a band of boys. A lot of nationalistic fervour goes into this game! The Gala Apart from the students who sizzled there was a lot more that raised eye brows. * Arpita sang badly and judges openly said that she would have been in the danger zone if she were not the 'Top Student'. * Javed and Ila have a spat over why Arijit was put in the danger zone. * Rex and Qazi are both praised, but Qazi gets to be safe. TOP STUDENT Arpita - Panchee, nadiya, hava ke jhonke This week's performance left everyone cold. Anil and Javed were polite when they said that Arpita could have performed better. The other judges did not mince words. K.K said Arpita was a let down, Shankar said the she was lucky to be protected or she would have found herself in the danger zone. TOP ATTITUDE Shamit - Zindagi mota na ban jaye yaron When criticism becomes harsher this guy's will becomes tougher. He put his heart and soul in his performance. However, Shankar felt he had performed better before and Javed agreed that Shamit had given a weak performance. Anil told him to be hopeful and this message went out to all the contestants. VERDICT - IN DANGER TOP PERFROMANCE Ruprekha - Ae mere vatan ke logon Based on the verdict Ruprekha could be given the top slot for the evening. Anil used the adjective very good, K.K used phenomenal and Shankar said heart touching. Javed added that in Fame Gurukul, everybody had made crying, a habit - students, faculty and audiences but this was the first time on hearing Ruprekha that he was near tears, too. VERDICT - MORE THAN SAFE OFF COLOUR Mona - Dil diya hai to jan bhi denge This girl has been a surprise package improving with every round. She has also been top student but this time she was totally off colour. While Javed, K.K and Shankar praised her voice quality they all felt that she could have performed better. Though it was Anil's favourite song he wanted more dum in Mona's rendition. VERDICT - IN DANGER ROCKING Qazi - Phir bhi dil hai Hindustani He sang the modern generation song and had the audiences rocking with national fervour. The judges enjoyed every bit of his performance. Javed said as usual Qazi was unpredictable, when you expected Qazi to do badly he proves you wrong. When asked whether he would be safe, Qazi said he really wanted to be safe as he was tired of being in the danger zone. This won him laughs and hearts. VERDICT - SAFE JUST ROCKING Rex - Kar chale hum fida jano tan satheyon Anil Kapoor said that Rex reminded him of Kishore Kumar and was charming like him - a true Mumbai ka tapori. K.K loved the feel in the song, Shankar said that Rex had sung one of his favourite songs and Javed also felt that Rex was good. Then why was he put in the danger zone? A good question! VERDICT - IN DANGER TOP CONTROVERSY Arijit - Vande mataram He could have rocked if he had not held the mike away from his mouth. The judges felt that because of this the low notes were lost. Anil loved the performance but Shankar said that he wanted to shout at Arijit for his slip up. Javed and K.K seconded this. This was at the bottom of the battle that ensued after the Jury's verdict. Ila felt that the jury had wrongly put Arijit in the dock. Javed was tough and said that instead of blaming the jury the faculty should teach their students how to hold the mike. Well, the Faculty saved Arijit. Now you have before you three talented singers - Shamit, Mona and Rex and only next week will reveal what is in store! |
