some of them r popular..sadly not all of them r i agree tht karunyas show was a huge success..but if he had performed with someone eho has already made himself/herself a huge name in the industry..dont u think they might get more fame, more offers? i feel performing with some stars in the begining might even get them some playback singing offers😳

yes everything has some positives and some negatives. You r right ,that can be one way of looking at it.i don't know about offers though, see shamit, arijit got the offer for the album without performing with any big stars and on the other hand abhijeet sawant has been performing with all the big stars and he hardly has any good offers in the movies.I think that the people in the music industry are not swayed by the shows that they r doing.

hmmm...this is the first time am arguing..😆😆😆but yea di u r rite..shamu, aru and mona got the contract without performing with such stars..my basic thought was tht by performing with such ppl they might get a wider media coverage..in tht way, more ppl might come to knw abt them..and they might as well get a compliment saying "wow! look..they have performed with such huge stars..they must be real good" thts wht i feel..i donno how far tht makes sense😕😆

arguing is good,an argument a day,keeps u fit all the way😆😆

It makes a lot of sense but u know the people who r giving offers are aware of whats happening on TV,TV is not a small medium now,u see the giants of the music industries are associated with these shows,JA,Shanker,KK,Sonu nigamFarah,Anu malik, jatin lalit, aadesh srivastava, bappi lahiri, alka yagnik ,HR,iamail darbaar,Hariharan, these people and we have seen film stars like kareena priyanka Kajol everyone is associated to these shows. So these reality show stars are known to the whole film industry and these r the people who give offers.Doing shows with big stars does nothing for these people in terms of offers.

First a hello to everyone. Logging in to IF after a long time. Interesting topic and I certainly have my views on this. I think like most issues, this one isn't a black and white issue either. There are many aspects to consider before deciding which is a better way for these young aspiring singers/performers to go.

So here is my analysis:

If you look historically, most aspiring singers (or groups) have chosen the path to work with established singers/performers to establish recognition. In the west, many aspiring and less recognized music groups have performed as opening acts for top performers such as U2, Madonna, Prince, MJ, Back Street Boys, NSync, etc .

Similarly, Indian performers have performed with recognized performers and that has helped their careers. Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik are examples of that.

The second issue is of mentor/apprentice. People like Vinit and Himani feel obligated to their mentors such as Himesh. Do you really think they can say "NO" to Himesh if he asks them to perform with him? They would jeopardise potential work with him in the future. Additionally, they get to tour Europe and America for free. This is a BIG incentive for any struggling/aspiring person. There are very few people who have such opportunities. They would be foolish to reject it. This is plain reality.

Many times music companies/labels sponsor such shows. Working on such tours gives these youngersters an opportunity to establish/formulate relationships with these music companies.

These concerts are shown on TV sometimes. This gives them a much wider audience with potential for future work with other promoters and possibly with corporate executives and those who make advertisements for large corporations. These singers might be able to sing in commercials and make money.

If a performer only caters to their fan base, they are limiting their growth potential. These performers want to grow and the best way to do this is to work with established performers and promoters. They get to learn how to deal with various people and handle pressure. These are all very important lessons.

Some of you might recall that during the Temptation 2004 tour there was a Prianka Chopra -- a rank new comer to the industry and a struggling Arjun Ramphal were part of the tour. Working with such high profile people helped both of their careers (some would argue it helped Prianka more) but SRK recently worked in Arjun Ramphal's home production as a guest artist. The relationship was established during that tour. Another example is the film "Main Hoon Na". It gave Zahid Khan instant recognition because he worked in a high profile project. Before that did anybody even know/care about him? This movie led to him getting a role in Dus.

The tour that Quazi/Rex/Debo are on might give them more visibility in their own shows but will not help enhance their career because they won't be working with those who matter in the industry. I would argue, that at this stage in their career it's more important to work with those who can help their careers.

Sorry about making this long.

RO,welcome bak and happy friendship Day 😃

So how was the trip? and ur Italian friend, did u bring her to india to show her our beautiful country 😃

Ur post is very well written and i agree with most of it but the only thing is that the reality show stars although they r newcomers but they r different from the other newcopmers in the sense that they are already known to the bigwigs of the industry and they already have made a name for themselves and have a very loyal fan following.Arijit, karunya both got movie offers for singing without even performing in even one show with the big stars.Qazi has got several acting offers from big TV names like ekta and also movie offers. So the movie industry is not unaware of them ,almost all of the movie industry has been associated with these reality shows,u name it and the star has been on the show. The people who have to give offers know what these reality stars are gud at.TV and movie world are almost one now.

These shows do not help them with getting offers because these people r known to the movie industry unlike the rank newcomers.

Great post rolm. I agree with you completely. You raise some very good points. Are you a lawyer or a writer? You articulate your points very well backing them up with examples. Where do you live?
