Akanjali: I love their simple complexity!

Being a fan of push-and-pull, larger-than-life epic romances with ego clashes and heartbreaks, I would've never imagined being drawn to a couple as grounded as Akaash and Anjali. There is something so genuine and ethereal about them, it's hard not to have a big smile on my face every time these two interact.

In a lot of ways, they are each other's anchors. Anjali is the only one who believes that Akaash has what it takes to complete the Everest Summit despite his acrophobia. Of course, it cannot be denied that Shikha Maa and Roshan are his well-wishers. I can understand their apprehension especially seeing how heights and Gaurav's death still haunt him. But he has to do what he has to do and Anjali calms him. I love the precap when she tells him that he is capable of much more than he realises. I am looking forward to seeing an even more intense version of the climbing wall scene on the actual expedition.

Anjali has been established as a very strong character capable of holding her own in any situation. But it's always good to have someone to fall back upon and for her, that person is Akaash specially on the expedition. I remember how happy she was when she discovered that he had rejoined the mission and how she would not be 'alone'. She has bonded with the other team members but Akaash still seems to have the special place. The way she interacts with him with an obvious ease and comfort, it is pretty evident that this experience wouldn't be the same without him. I don't think she realises or wants to realise her growing affection towards him given a certain other factor in her life but if NIM and Mission Everest are all she is meant to share with Akaash, they would be the fondest memories of her life.

Their budding feelings for each other are being established as a potential threat to their quest for Everest, but the way their bond has built up so far, I do feel that ultimately they would prove to be each other's strengths and not weakness during Mission Everest. Anjali has already declared in the newest promo that Everest is now HER dream to fulfil. Hopefully in the coming episodes, Akaash too will learn to love Everest wholeheartedly instead of just seeing it as an assignment to resurrect his career. Emotions can be complex and complicated to deal with and it might be a distraction but in the long-run, I am hoping to see them bond even further over their mutual newfound love for Everest which might just be the catalyst for their confession. And from whatever I have seen of this show so far, this angle can be added to their equation pretty effectively.

Oh and the title. Well, that's their relationship for me. It's without any unnecessary complications but it has so many layers to it that there is some kind of an angsty undertone to it even if it's not our conventional anguish normally seen on TV.

As I said, this is an awesome post. It reflects everything I feel about this duo. They're special and like you have stated there is a subtle and innocence angst between the two. They aren't having any ego issues, they're genuinely good friends with an immense understanding.

Anjali has never had a caring male figure in her life but Aakash gives her that. My favourite scene is when he forces her to go to the doctor after the fall and he takes her bag off her shoulder. Anjali was amazed herself that there is someone who is taking so much effort just for her. His care for her is overwhelming. On the other hand Aakash isn't the most confident person. For a Hindi TV serial hero to admit that he's had suicidal thoughts, I mean I've not seen it before. The fact that he said he loves life now it's all because of Anjali. She's made him want to live and be happy. Doesn't that say it all? It's a beautiful relationship which is going through a sensitive phase. They're falling in love but they have other issues to think about as well. I hope like you said that their bond becomes their strength in the expedition. Hasn't it been this far anyway? They've both clearly said that they wouldn't enjoy the trip without the other.

I love the way they look at each other too. Nothing forced, it's just them. I wonder what Anjali's response will be tomorrow.

Great post! I feel the same about these two. What they share is so real & special. Despite being strong personalities who have their own principles, there is no ego between the two. They respect each other, & care for each other without thinking twice. This expedition definitely wouldn't have been the same if Akash wasn't around.
Unlike you, I feel that Anjali is aware of her growing feelings towards Akash. I feel that she realises that there is something different that they share though she hasn't exactly found the right term for it (the depth of her feelings IMO). She is however distancing herself because giving in to his advances would only mean hurting her father, which she can't bear to do.

And yes, I really want Akash to focus on facing his fears & the expedition, rather than seeing it as a mere task. Even if he's being paid for it, he should give it his all. I guess that's where Anjali comes into play. I hope he doesn't let his feelings come in between. Rather he should draw inspiration from her & focus on the mission at hand. Reaching the base camp is not all. Like what Anjali said they still have to go a lot further & the actual test has just begun.

I don't know maybe its just me... but I feel that we are up for not so sweet interactions between the two given Anjali's strong resolve in the promo to conquer EVEREST & Akash's increasing desire to confess his feelings.

Haha! Proposal on the Summit would be so cool. If any confession can happen on the world's highest peak, it's on this show.

Thank you, Reemz!
The thing with Akaash is that in a lot of ways, he IS like our conventional TV heroes. He has a tragic past and a painful present with a whole lot of issues to deal with and yet he is different. That is what makes him all the more refreshing to watch.
@bold: That's exactly why I feel that ultimately they will not be each other's distractions. Maybe for a while when they're still figuring their feelings out but ultimately it just won't sit well with how they've shown so far. Love should make us stronger instead of weaker, right?

I get what you're saying the the second paragraph and I think I wasn't clear there. I also feel that she knows that what she feels towards Akaash is a different kind of fondness which she is deliberately not wanting to label. But I also feel that she doesn't yet see a future with him which is why I feel Akaash is more closer to a confession than she is.
There would be conflict (and there should be) but I don't think that it would stretch for too long. At the heart of it, this show IS about Everest so I don't think that they would make the love story unnecessarily problematic.
