Hello everyone!
So I managed to find my way to this thread now but have no clue what was discussed here all along. So pitching in at the current topic-the KK daan-I personally find this incident to be amoral in character having very little to do with right or wrong. Hence neither warranting praise nor blame. Indra did a repugnant thing to begin with, Karna just replied in kind- keeping the distasteful flavour of the entire incident intact. In fact I think he did an intelligent thing to exchange something (whose utility I am doubtful of) for something which might potentially help him in the future. I have very little knowledge of the epic but I don't remember his hyped KK ever doing anything which a non-divine ordinary armour could not do. (Unless the ⭐️MB version is true and it could magically appear and disappear😆).Hence if I am going to blame anyone, it's got to be Indra. Again not for ethical reasons, but for tactical ones. If I want to exploit my enemy's virtue/idiosyncrasy and have myself already thrown all pretence of scrupulousness , then I might as well take full advantage of the situation. I know my enemy is under vow to give ANYTHING I ask for and I don't want him to face my son in his lethal form then I should begin with the essentials--like say...his thumb (ok i dont want to copy Dron!), so his hand, or perhaps his life (Rishi Dadhichi style maybe). Technically I would expect him to make a daan of all this too and this would waive off the danger with certitude. But instead I go and ask for an accessory and not just that I end up giving him a mighty weapon which has higher chances of killing my son!I can so imagine Arjun telling him-Just do me a favour, never ever try to help me in future. Please leave that to Madhav!😆
Hi Sadhana
Long time no see
KK wasn't just an accessory it was definitely an advantage that Karna had .Though it didnt make him invincible.Krishna ji himself told the same to Arjuna
Vasudeva said, Great is the joy I feel. Listen to me, Dhananjaya! This that I will tell thee will immediately dispel thy sorrow and infuse delight into thy heart. O thou of great splendour, know, O Dhananjaya, that Karna, his dart being baffled through Ghatotkacha, is already slainin battle. The man does not exist in this world that could not stay before Karna armed with that dart and looking like Kartikeya in battle. By good luck, his (natural) armour had been taken away. By good luck, his earrings also had been taken away. By good luck, his infallible dart also is now baffled, through Ghatotkacha. Clad in (natural) coat of mail and decked with his (natural) ear-rings, Karna, who had his senses under control, could singly vanquish the three worlds with the very gods. Neither Vasava, nor Varuna the lord of the waters, nor Yama, could venture to approach him. Indeed, if that bull among men had his armour and ear-rings, neither thyself, bending the Gandiva, nor myself, uplifting my discus, called Sudarsana, could vanquish him in battle. For thy good, Karna was divested of his ear-rings by Sakra with the help of an illusion. Similarly was that subjugator of hostile towns deprived of his (natural) armour. Indeed, because Karna, cutting off his (natural) armour and his brilliant car-rings, gave them unto Sakra, it is for that he came to be called Vaikartana. Karna now seems to me to be like an angry snake of virulent poison stupefied by power of incantation, or like a fire of mild flames
So here krishna ji is himself telling about the advantages of KK.Though i agree he might be exaggerating it a little bit like i said it didn't make karna invincible like krishna ji is portraying but it was definitely an advantage not just accessory
Also Arjuna was quiet happy about the help provided by Indra😆.He had no complaints.Infact all pandvas were very happy as clearly mentioned in epic.
Also KK was much more advantageous than shakti.Shakti could have only been used once and that too once karna had exhausted all his weapons. This was no where in comparison to KK which came without any terms and conditions
