I wanted to quote that part in the six speeches where the autor points out Karna as the most stable the same point where he posses no pre occupations or attachments😉

Karna then describes the imminent death of his fellow warriors and himself and Duryodhana and the ritual laments of the women that will follow this. The metaphor for his own death also participates in this general metaphor of the sacrificial rite: this is the punashchiti, 'repiling' of the fire altar (V,139,46). It is what occurs after the main action of the sacrifice is completely done, and is a preparation for another ritual occasion. Is Karna thus saying, metaphorically, that his death will be a preparation for what is to succeed, that is, the subsequent yuga?

Karna is speaking out of character in describing not only his own death but the total defeat of the Kauravas and death of Duryodhana. Not only is he doing that, but he is perverting his king's own metaphor, that of the shastrayajnja, sacrifice of weapons'; and this is when he has only just been describing how his loyalty to Duryodhana was superior to any other relation in his life! This speech is contrary to every other speech that Karna has given or will give in the poem. He has rejected the absolute sovereignty that Krishna has offered and instead presents his unique vision of what the consequences of all this conflict will be. If one ignores the question of textual emendation here, such a pronouncement, being so adverse to every other statement of Karna's in the epic, puts him in an even more isolated position than Achilles with his desire for kleos above all else.** It is a strange and haunting moment whose open-endedness and irresolution only makes for an even greater effect, at least in terms of the ominous. It is as if this moment represents Karna at his most stable, most truthful, because it is his most unearthly speech; at this point he possesses no pre-occupations nor attachments.

**If textual emendment was the case, it must have occured very early. According to the editor of Udyoga parvan, S.K. De, there are no serious textual problems with the manuscripts of this book. Commenting on the Northern and southern recensions, he writes, "the two recensions do not recede very materially from each other." Even the Javanese text is in general accordance.

Cambodia was known as kambuja/ kambujadesa during pal lava king jayavarman times and earlier Gupta period
During Mahabharata the kingdom called kamboja was in Afghanistan, people speculate that some people from kamboja migrated to establish themselves there but no proof so far

100% correct about KK and Indra. Quite clever and quick thinking of Karna to at least ask for something in return when Indra used his virtue against him. Nothing wrong in that. And yes, Arjun is forever maligned because of that😆

What people say & what the truth is, are mostly different always. And it always depends on the standard of those people.😉

Dury wanted to hold the dice game because he wanted IP(there was no plan of humiliating Drau) and Yudi continued playing because he wanted HP

So if we dont balme Yudi then lets not blame Dury as well for inviting pandvas to HP

What Yudi and co and Dury and co both should be blamed for is their involvement in Draupadi's humiliation and Yudi for human staking

[/QUOTE

I dont blame dury for wanting IP. yes, there was no plan of humiliating drau, but she was humiliated by the kauravas. Just coz yudi betted and lost her does not give the k's right to humiliate a woman, in this case their SIL.
what yudi did that day was a sin but what the duri & co did was equal to 1000 sins.
lets suppose if yudi had indeed won HP, he wouldn't have treated the kaurava women like say bhanumati the way k's treated drau.

👏👏 for the last part. I hope Yudhi had shown it clearly what he would have done if Duri lost Bhanumati in dice. Ghosha yatra scene itself speaks for it. He was more worried for kaurava women there. Some novels and serials like to delete that ghosha yatra episode to hide Yudhi's goodness.
