I too think Creative liberty should be given. If we are here only to narrate Vyasa's epic, then we better read MB only. But this creative liberty should have some solid references in some version MB itself to support it. No folklore uless it positively contribute to the original story. No one must be allowed to write a fiction of their taste & add it to the main story. But I think we can encourage a fiction that in no way contradict or affect the original story.
Also I think co-ordination between members is equally important. Else we cannot do complete justice to the character we chose, I think, because each character is linked to many other characters. I guess we must concentrate more on contributing to the main story than concentrating more only on our own favourites.
