Nice post, SV.👏

To me, Gayatri is one step ahead of the woman of her times...she has been taught to become the salt in her sasuraal. but she knows very well how to be the mirchi in her husband's diet when the situation demands...😉or the sugar in his coffee if that is what he needs.
I feel Gayatri opens up her real self to only one person- her husband. That is because she has carried him in her heart as an idol...and even if that idol is not what it appeared to her at first, she can vouch that he is her one and only soulmate.

In the light of that, I find Gayatri's behaviour acceptable. She is a romantic- one of the traits women of those days couldn't afford, as her mother clearly told her.

Started watching the show only a fortnight ago, so don't much.

RGD is not based on the real Gayatri Devi at all. The serial's RGD is shown to be a progressive, bold woman, that was uncommon in her times. But what I meant to say was that there were women like that.

@BW - Anita Raaj said she based her attitude and demeanour on the real Gayatri Devi.

The Difference between the ruling class and the subjects social preferences were starkly different in those eras or rather in ancient and Medival India. They are portraying our transition. It was an era when the upper class of India too was changing. and accepting modern life styles. If you read literature from those times you will get evidences of beautiful romantic portrayals of wives who were not so coy. Like the poem Kamayani and Aansoo by Jai Shankar Prasad both tread in to that territory. Similiary there is a poetess Mahadevi verma born in 1907 who defied all norm of the then times and became an icon for women of India. She lived mostly away from her husband was a freedom fighter and was an ardent romanticist breaking all norms. The OP has mentioned rani Gayatri Devi well she was epitome of beauty and poise. Boldness personified. Let us also not forget that princesses of those times were given proper sexual education too. How else would they survive in those ranivasas where seeking attention of one's husband amongst not only ample number of queens but then many more ladies. Point in case boldness was not so uncommon in those days especially in private.

We are talking about the times after we had queens like Rani Lakshmi Bhai and Unniyarcha. If you have watched Malayalam movie Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha" you will get to know, Gayatri is still reserved.
Unniyarcha was epitome of beauty and warfare as per Kerala folklore. And that movie that 2 songs " Chandana lepa sughandham" and Indulekha Kan thurannu, please watch. You need not understand the language to understand what is happening 😆😆😆
The problem with us 21st century females is that in the race to equal men we are leaving beside our femininity somewhere which the lasses of those days had in plenty.

anyways if we see Jodha Akbar movie ,Devdas & Salman khan's movie with zarin khan & Amir khan's lagand all these movies showed the actress bold & their dress was backless too but noone bother to say about era guys here the show is not base on true story

cvs hv only taken inspiration of Gayatri 's character frm real RGD & off course they will give it touch of new & change gayatri's character & all Characters according to the trps

It seems that Maharani Gayatri Devi's mother was even more bold. She was engaged to be married to someone else, but she fell in love with another man. Instead of informing her parents as per the norm, she wrote to her fianc breaking the engagement!

Although, I had no issues with the romantic scene...I think we would rather not believe that our grandparents could have been passionate teases 😆
