Now for that important question that seems to be plaguing the forum - is he faking?
For all those who think he is, my simple question would be since when? From the dargah, from the moment they returned to the palace, when?
If it is from the dargah, why would he? When he personally nursed her back to life? He wanted to bring her back to life so he could take revenge?
If it is from the time they returned to the palace, for what joy? I mean, what exactly happened that he would take revenge? Just because his mother and wife exchanged smiles? Even the black veiled woman got to know things only subsequently about RM's involvement in G being shot! So for what exactly was he taking revenge? If RNJ already knew of G or RM's involvement, what was the point of the black veiled lady even overhearing the conversation?
Also, this whole thing about lightning speed romance? I don't get it! The man's wife has been dead for six years and he has been grieving and laboring under misplaced guilt ever since! The fact that he actually recklessly went to fight the war personally suggests that he was practically trying to get killed! His emotions vis a vis G have been conflicted right from the beginning. He doesn't even know quite what he feels. Whatever it is, it is very, very strong! No lukewarm or half emotions there. He resented her and hated her when he thought she'd manipulated her way into his life! Yet he could not stop himself from admiring her innate courage and goodness and stood up for her just for that! Why couldn't he have treated her with contempt and disdain? Why did he rant and rave every time he thought she'd disappointed him and betrayed him? Why did her betrayal matter so much to him? It was almost like his anger against her was his defense mechanism, because he somewhere felt very conflicted about moving on! He preferred to believe in circumstantial evidence that allowed him to retain this defensive posture because he was scared of letting of letting himself go! Also, when a person has had his heart broken once, he would be naturally wary of giving himself again and would prefer to delay the inevitable using every excuse!
Now,after the extreme situations that they have been through, his defense is well and truly broken! He has been on the verge of losing this woman, who has suddenly become very central to his existence even without his realizing it! We already got to see how Sula had slipped through his conscious when he responded to the feeding scene between Bansi and Mala by feeding G himself! If S and her memories were even in his conscious, would he have done that? It took G to remind him of Sula, In the tumultuous days that have just passed, he has forgotten his misplaced guilt, anger and resentment. All of that have been pushed out of his mind and heart by something much larger, much stronger and even better, something that is still growing!
He knows G loves him to bits. He has felt the power of his attraction towards her. What is he supposed to do next? Go back to platonic conversations and innocent romance?
For a man as passionate conversation, isn't it obvious that physical intimacy would be the next step? But he does not want to rush G but would rather woo her into physical pleasures step by step! He has her heart and he has her mind already! All that is left is to seal the pact through a physical union. He may not spell things out but it is obvious both to G and him that he feels deeply for her and wants her just as much! I am deliberately not using the word love here because he has chosen not to give it that label yet! Maybe he will soon enough if that hug that is coming up is any indication! He is anyway committed to the relationship for a lifetime!
I don't think they are rushing into intimacy given the context of their powerful emotions, the tumultuous experiences they have been through and so on. I don't feel the need for RNJ's monologue. That song sequence at the dargah told me all that I wanted to know. His every gesture and every expression has been speaking to me since! I don't need him to tell me that he does not believe in the allegations that he had levelled against G anymore because I already know that he is motivated by far more than such reservations!
When there is warm and willing woman in front of him who is also his wife and when he is certainly not immune to her charms and even likes her enough as a person, why would he hold back?
So, bottom line is I don't think he is faking. There is one more important reason why I don't think he is! They are setting him up for a big fall, a big MU and for that to happen, he must be, he has to feel strongly for G. If he was faking even now, how is the situation any different from the Wilkison episode? He needs for his heart to be engaged now for it to break now!
The fact that the black veiled lady is now aware of RM's secret indicates that they are going to play with the gun episode for the MU.
Here is my conjecture - what if the black veiled lady managed to plant the gun in G's room? Just like she did with the wedding lehenga? What if she conspired to make it seem like the gun was in G's possession? RNJ is enough of a warrior to recognize weapons and to know what kind of bullet would cause what kind of injury.
What if like the payal, the gun is made an evidence? The fact that RM asked the gun to be hidden away is proof that this is surely going to happen! What if a situation is created where G is perceived to be guilty or at least that she colluded with RM? Or what, if like other mahanta ki murti FLs, she decides to take the blame to save her mother-in-law! Since RM hatched the conspiracy for her sake anyway!
When a conflicted RNJ responded so strongly to perceived betrayal, a besotted RNJ is going to be worse! He is going to be wounded tiger and snap and snarl! And, right or wrong, he is going to believe the worst!
Why do I get the feeling that the Swarna situation may bring them back together?
Much of my analysis is based on logic and common sense. However, they become the first casualty in desi soaps! So I could be all wrong and RNJ could be faking after all! Thought I should add this line as a caveat!
