When Baba tells RNJ to put Gayu down on the mat, he hesitates. Awww, he wants her to be close, doesnt want to put her down.

@ Sush, BTW did you hear about the reunion episode of our previous show? Lemme PM you.

A few observations

Re Episode 61: Earlier, he sent her a rose to entice her to her humiliation. Now, he offered a rose in supplication for her well-being.

Re Episode 62:
  • Once upon a time, a long time ago, a rich girl hid her identity before her King and was identified as the daughter of a poor commoner. Later, when her King became aware of her true identity -- that of a rich commoner -- he was very angry. Some time later, her King hid his true identity and assumed the identity of a poor commoner and identified his Queen as his wife . She was a poor commoner-wife of a poor commoner-soldier, he implied, yet one with a royal name. Ironical, eh?
  • When she regained consciousness, Gayatri reminisced about the brief meeting between her forehead and the chandelier. Was it to a device to inform the audience that her deep swoon was a consequence of that particular meeting and not induced by a medication? Or was it just an attempt to show that she has not lost her memory?
  • Going by the havoc wrought on the blessed rose by a certain pair of footwear, the Lady in Black is clearly angry.
  • So, did the Lady in Black follow the Royal Couple? Or did she resort to intelligence and obtain information from the Royal Chauffeur? Or did she steer them there herself?
  • It leads me to wonder again: The kidnapping of the Royal Couple by the freedom fighters -- is it fortuituous despite the machinations of some who may have a more fatal design at least for the Queen or is it so designed? I am inclined to lean in favour of the former.

A question for those who have watched the show regularly: Has anyone here followed the series closely enough to conduct an analysis of the identity of the Lady in Black? Or have you ladies already engaged in this exercise?

Hello,
Thanks for opening the thread and posting an analysis despite your crazy schedule, Sush

Lovely collages, Shwets...can't thank you enough of course 😳😉

It was a mixed episode for two reasons.

Firstly, used as we are to having RNJ-G all through the episode, the lesser screen space was a bit disappointing!

Secondly, the rushed way in which the Swarna drama was kicked off! Why do these creatives rush so much, like there is a train just pulling out of the station that they need to catch? Maybe it is the TRP train..Ah well...!

Is RNJ looking increasingly divine? Is it the dargah or is it the white? We could have a separate debate on the topic 😆

I think it is seeing a husband, supposedly indifferent, taking such loving care of his wife! Which woman wouldn't melt at the sight?!

The RNJ-G bits had an almost dream like quality to them. Special mention to the lighting and camera work. This Santosh Suryavanshi's work is top notch! And what a divine background song to play! A round of applause for the DOP and whoever picked the music 👏

Sid was fantastic yesterday, His expressions at every point were spot on. My favorite are the two that Shwets shared right after the epi's telecast. The deep lines of worry etched on his face as he turned to look back at her before leaving to fetch water and then the sheen in his eyes when he saw that she had woken up from her slumber! And then the way he controlled his emotions as he stepped into light! That was a very telling moment! It was like those were emotions he would experience but not reveal! You don't need FBs and monologues when you get shots like that! This is a visual medium after all!

The expressions on his face as he urged her to have water. As Simran had pointed out yesterday, what a marked change from the soup feeding scene. Shows how sometimes it takes a jolt to awaken you to the value of something you subconsciously treasure!

Even that little interlude with rustic belle was cute. Calling himself Inder and describing himself as a soldier. Will we ever get to hear G call him Inder? Any bet takers around 😆

On the Swarna episode, it began on a rushed note!

Like someone else pointed out, the dialing of numbers seemed odd. There is a golden rule. When in doubt, don't show! They could've just shown Laksh picking up the phone and talking to the operator and asking to be connected to Swarna's maternal home. Or they could've cut to Swarna's house right after he picked up the receiver. Sigh!

Do Swarna's parents live around the corner? How did she manage to get there that quick?

To Swarna's credit, she did wonder and even asked her mother-in-law about her husband's interests. I guess women in those times were eternally hopefully. When a hint of hope was held out to them, they just brushed aside all their doubts and reservations and embraced what happiness they believed was in their grasp. Poor Swarna did just that!

If you feel sorry for Laksh for not being able to embrace his orientation openly and detest his parents for pushing him, and worse an innocent girl, into this position, you cannot help but be disgusted by what he did thereafter! Physical abuse is so ugly! My heart went out to poor Swarna!

It is a very sensitive track. Hope they handle it well!

Finally, a word again on the edit. That chap did it again yesterday 😡

When RNJ turned at the doorway to look at G and then again when his expressions on seeing G awake! Right when the actor was building up his expression, the editor had to go and cut to Gayathri. I mean, the woman was sleeping. Couldn't he have held RNJ's expressions just a bit longer, given the actor the space he needed before cutting to G?

And then we complain about the actor...bah!

P.S- The lady in black. Forgot to mention her. But well..I am treating her as a necessary evil for the moment...and did she look pudgier than usual yesterday or is it my imagination seeing Yashodha behind that veil? Don't want it to be her though. I like that actor and the character's devotion to RM!

"Inder bhaiyya?" Gayatri was perplexed for a moment! 😆

Is it any wonder that she will hold on to her fanciful thoughts? Everyone she comes across (read Yashoda and Mala) is telling her of his love and care for her -- measuring the care that they see him exhibit for her and translating that into a measure of his love for her!

Would she be so wrong? No declarations of love in the offing yet but a marked turnaround in his attitude surely.! He doesn't hate her anymore at least!

And a girl is allowed to hope 😆

She just needs to give him time and space. And post the great RNJ meltdown tonight hopefully, I think that will also come. He needs to ask her for time! The poor thing assumes things in her favour! He needs to be crystal clear in voicing his expectations!

Edit- Your point about G recalling the chandelier moment! To me it seemed merely like her recall of her last moment of consciousness!
And yes, that was an interesting turnaround. The irony of the King renouncing his identity for the sake of his commoner wife, who he believed was interested only in his royal title!

^ I second you on that. I would like to see some of the unwavering, unflinching fidelity that royalty sometimes evoked in their subjects! And Rajmata, who has been sketched to be a strong character, does need one such aide-de-camp.

It could just as well as be Gayatri's Machiavellian to-be-mother-in-law -- the mother of her fiance who died -- who doesn't want Gayatri to find her happily-every-after without her son. Well, it could be the mother or any other fawning Machiavellian relative who was against the Gayatri's marriage and happily-every-after.

But, they would then have to explain how this person is familiar with the personal details of Ranaji and Rani Sulakshna.

And given the royal setting, it may not make too much sense to introduce a non-political angle. Palace intrigue and a link with one of the royals are more likely to explain this lady's identity and appearance.

I don't know if the CVs forgot that Kunwar chacha had been kidnapped and tortured supposedly the night before. 😆. There should have been some continuity to that sequence.
  • The issue that they are bringing up is quite common in India, parents getting their gay child married off because they think just having a female around will 'cure' them!! Here,in the 1940s, Royal family etc, if we add the need for an heir, to lay claim to the throne, it gets uglier. I somehow felt Swarna's happiness was as misplaced as Gayatri's on her SR. She definitely knows his orientation, once she walked in on him flirting with his male servant and second, he was flirting at the party. i found it a bit odd that she did'nt have one bit of apprehension on her face. It was more happiness and anticipation. It is a serious matter, I do hope they treat it sensitively!
  • Continuity was maintained beautifully in the RAGA sequence. 👏. Was there an inner conflict in Ranaji while he tended to her? I found his making the lep a bit odd, but then, in the dargah, the Fakir did tell him, he needs to bow down to the Almighty, so I'll take it, that he shed all his Royal attitude and ego, and he did it because he did not want Gayatri to bear the consequences of his insensitivity. Whether his misconceptions about her have been cleared up, I guess we will know soon. Conflict could be because he knows/feels he can never give her the love she deserves??
  • Sid K was wonderful, and I do hope the serial does very well so that he gets his due. DD was excellent in her waking up scene...disbelief, love, wariness, all together.
  • All in all, I hope the makers make good use of the leads, the characters, the various threads of stories that they can tell. That is my fear seeing that the competition has some serious high voltage drama, any compromise will dilute the serial.

Nah, I doubt it is anyone connected with G's past. It is someone closely acquainted with RNJ and/or Sulakshana! It has to be an insider or an insider acting on behalf of an outsider.
