I am personally someone who believes that the starker a scene, the more powerful and poignant it is!
The tear that is held back is far more powerful than the one that is allowed to fall.

If tears have to be shed, there has to be a build up powerful enough to warrant them. Without that build up, I would never buy into an actor's performance! Because the set up to a scene is as important or more important than the actual scene itself.

I bought into SId's performance at the dining table, at the jungle and at the dargah because he brought a credibility to each of those moments. More importantly, they were scenes that had been well set up in terms of the writing. So I enjoyed them.

No actor can resurrect poor writing and I firmly believe in that. Also, when an actor has not bought into the moment, there is no way he can sell it to the audience. It is my feeling that SId never bought into the moment fully.

There was one moment though when he had me convinced. When he told Gayathri that she had fallen in love with the wrong man! He seemed perfectly convinced about what he was saying and doing there and so I bought in too. But this was because, that moment had been well set up. We had already seen RNJ repenting for his treatment of G. So, the actor was able to bring the right amount of sincerity and credibility to the moment.

I felt that the connect to the praja's anguish had not been sufficiently established/ explored. Hence a complete breakdown was simply not warranted there. Even before he started crying, I experienced a W*F moment! It was like this is going to warrant a breakdown of such proportions? When I was just shown a glimpse of the connect with the praja. Even that scene was not sufficiently explored but rather rushed through!

Much as I like Sid's style of acting, I would really call him out if he did a shoddy job of a well written moment! In this case, the moment was so shoddy that his performance made no difference to me.

However, he could've certainly cried better as an actor! Except that he would not have sold me the moment even then! Because I had already had my W*F moment even before he started crying!

DD was spot on because we have seen enough of her emotions for RNJ to buy into the moment. Her anguish, her helplessness, all of it was palpable because we know the magnitude of her emotions for RNJ.

Sid is a good actor but needs a good director and a good script! DD is a good actor but also needs a good director and a good script. And a good director needs a good script.

So that is the common denominator, the script. Hope the writing can get better in such key scenes and also hope the director can have a better vision. The actors will deliver because they are good at their job!

There are very few actors who make you forget the scene, forget the set up and everything else and enjoy their performance for what it is! I think they've bought so much into their craft that they are led by it rather than the script or the director. I don't think Sid is there yet! Maybe he will get there someday!

I just caught up on the last few pages and before I call it a night I actually don't know if I enjoyed the entire breakdown scene. I liked parts of it and parts of it sid's expression confused me. So all in all it was ok for me. It could have been amazing but it wasn't. So I would lean towards supporting Shwets and S! 😆

The scenes look super rushed. WTH is the rush CV's, slow the train! RaGa scenes are being rushed. It's a Daily soap, Usually we are always complaining about that pace being too slow. The problem is reversed here!! 😕

I think he was more embarrassed then sad.
I mean if someone told me this story if i was a Queen only being lovesick all day not paying any real attention to anything else, i would feel that way. Now Gayatri has not done any major stuff just yet for the palace, but she isn't passive either and certainly has worked on a few things she was capable of doing.

Folks! The scene actually worked for me in parts. Gayatri planted the seed in his mind the previous night about how as a king he needed to move on from the loss of his wife and should concentrate on the larger scheme of things (Atta girl!). The very next day, he gets a first hand, full fledged demonstration about the plight of his subjects, and he being an honorable, empathetic king is visibly crestfallen especially when the lady (Mala/) also underscores his recklessness as a king. So the build up for me is substantial enough. What really doesn't work for me was the finding solace on Gayatri's bosom part(DD nailing the emotions notwithstanding)...have they reached that stage of a relationship where he could openly admit to being unworthy of her love? IMO, the whole segment of maudlin should have been a solo affair, with the king ruminating on the direction his kingdom is heading towards. That line of how Sula always wanted him to be a good king was so amateurish like whoever wrote that line and whatever does he/she mean by good?! 🥱I have to add that, on a second time watch, I liked Sid better!

The Bad for me was Ugly as well.. You see Kunwarji thrash his son before the Wedding, pattern of behavior I am thinking. You can see the fear of his father on Laksh's face. That is a father's abuse of his son.. physical and emotional. He knows about his sexual orientation. He is not accepting of it and thrashes him because he has other plans for Laksh and the gayness does not fall in line with his machinations for the throne. Laksh in turn, unable to hit his father back, maybe not being able to come to terms with his orientation or for being forced to marry Swarna, is frustrated, angry and takes out his frustration on people who are vulnerable to him.

I am by no means justifying the spousal abuse. Just my POV on why Laksh is the way he is .. Abuse begets abuse.
Intelligent characterization .. that on the part of the writers.

The Swarna situation in my opinion is the Ugliest.

I like her fieriness and would like to see her get out of the situation. Not able to stomach the abuse on tv.

On a side note .. the actor who plays Laksh has done a great job. I would like to see him take off some of those layers of make up. He runs the risk of looking like a drag queen given his sometimes colorful clothes.
