Hey Jules!

That where Damini and Gayatri relationship stands. Damini wants the best for her daughter but her perception of what is right for her daughter is colored by the misogynistic times. There if you had a young unwed daughter it meant there was something wrong with her. Sitting at home in your parents house was looked down upon. There was no use of Gayatri's intelligence or talent as her father talked about. (Again her father just spoke of them. I would like this intellect or talents to be explored further) Even today if a girl isn't married she is of no good. Her primary job is to procreate or preferably produce a male heir. She serves no other purpose. Even today father's and mother's get their daughter's marriage without an effort to educate them. Because their perception of what is right, or wrong or what is even right for their child is colored by the society and the times.

To her Gayatri's image in society matters. Gayatri is nurturing dreams which to her seem impossible. Imagine if Gayatri had gone to pursue Ranaji that night in her drunken state and people had witnessed it. Gayatri would have been labeled as a "giri hui larki." Everyone in the kingdom would spit on her. Of course due to the double standards no one would have questions a 56 year old hag wanting a young virgin for his pleasure along with a dowry. Sad state of affairs.

Anyway I'm glad Gayatri didn't take the injustice happening with her by her own family and pleaded her father to rethink over the alliance. At least she has the guts to speak for herself when she knows she is right.

And true, Damyanti is only a mother and she can never be a friend to Gayatri cos for me she failed to protect her own daughter today.

He meant a virgin from the word go yaar! Without flaw in a 21 year old ka matlab hai virgin!😆 Gayatri's character is forming as one of the best female characters of television and its beautiful to see.

Gayatri's mindset is too regressive. She can never be a friend to her daughter as per her a daughter ought to be a yes or no doll. I guess that was how she was brought up. I am surprised that she does not rule her daughter in laws with the same iron first, if am being honest.

I think uske bheja fried ho chuki hai! She cannot say anything beyond Gayatri's shaadi. She would have got her married to even an animal, if one had come with a proposal going per her desperation.

Gayatri's character is forming into a good female character who will take shit but only for so long until she explodes in her own subtle manner. And yes DD is doing a fine job.

Aree yaar these are needed to progress the story and acquire the all important TRPS! I know its annoying and regressive but at the same time it enables the actors to explore a different facet of their skills. I was disappointed with Gayatri's father tonight as I felt what was shown tonight was not in line with his character and that was saddening as he always stated he loved Gayatri and would do anything for her.

Gayatri's mother is a lady of regressive mindset predominately because of the way she was brought up. But its sad to see her behave the way she has been lately as it did appear to the audience that deep down she felt for her daughter.

Relationships in those times and these time aren't very simple and coherent. They are complex. I understand what her mother is doing is terribly wrong. In fact disgusting and in no way am I showing her any sympathy or condoning it. But sometimes our parents and us are confused on what is right for the children. For an example, I suffer form anxiety and ADHD. The less educated sectors of Indian society still view that as a serious mental disorder. It means their is something seriously wrong with you. They dont like me discussing what is wrong with me infront of their Indian friends. In fact they just want me to fight it on my own without paying much attention to it.

A very subtle piece of writing I must say.

I understand why the mother feels an obligation towards getting her daughter married but I dislike the hastiness within which she wants to do it. Of course parents believe they know best and her mother might think what she is doing will benefit Gayatri in the long term but alas its evident it will not but she has elected to wear her blind glasses, aab kya kare. Her father said they had come to an arrangement not to marry Gayatri off just yet, so it was not a fear of society per se that has caused this reaction out of her. It was Gayatri's dream. She said Gayatri might have drank today but she was intoxicated a long time back, this was the thorn that had pricked her mother's heart. And the effect was so deep that it has made her go all out to ensure her daughter marries before she does something that will bring shame to the Seth household.

Its funny how the father is happy to face society and their questioning but the mother isnt! Anyways I hope the 56 year old fella gets taught a good lesson for his idiotic behavior tonight! 11 lac to marry that thing? My money is not scratching! No matter what the era!😆

Gayatri is ready to take anything that is thrown at her and is only willing to tolerate some of the nonsense thrown at her. Tonight was too much! She made the brave decision to stand up for herself and kudos to her.

see i can understand for story progession they want this drama i would have more happy if they had shown alliance like this came for Gayu and they rejected it and find some another suitable match specially after her mother said thousand times i care for my daughter before taking promise from her husband.. its all so mismatch one side they show so much progressive thinking and with blink of eye they change into some dehati show with verbally harshness .. till now there is so much tenderness shown in serial and all of sudden so much harshness it really doesn't go well with me.. at the end we all knw she not gone married to that oldie.. till then we need to take this horrible drama which iam hating at this moment..
