His gaze wandered over the lush green fields, and the sparkling clean rivers. The view from above was breath taking. Finally after so many years he was going back to his home, his palace, his heritage.
Rana Indravadhan Singh Rao was going back to the same place where he had lost his beloved wife years ago. The helicopter started descending and he could see the sepoys firing gun shots. Those gun shots held bad memories. For a moment he felt his facade of self control and restrain fell. But as soon as the emotion of pain hit his now dead heart, he managed to mask his features again.
Finally the helicopter landed, Rana Ji stepped out of it and adjusted his coat, buttoning it up. One of the sepoy announced his arrival and soon enough he felt flower petals being showered over his. He gave those ladies a hard look, only if they knew that he hated flowers. He hated every good thing that reminded him of his wife who died saving him.
"Aapka swagat hai Rana Ji." Divan Ji greeted him. Rana Ji gave him an acknowledging nod and kept walking. He wanted to see his mother first.
As soon as he entered inside the palace, he let out a deep sigh as the scene in front of his greeted his eyes.
There was his mother. The ever beautiful, sophisticated and of course attention loving. She was busy with just another photo-shoot.
He decided to walk away quietly. But like always his mother was well aware of his arrival.
"Aa gayee aap. Humme laga nahi thha ki aap waapis aayenge." Rana Ji looked at his mother, only to find her gaze still focused at the camera and her posing for it.
"Waapis toh aana hi thha humme. Kuch farz hain jo nibhane hain humme." replied Rana Ji. Both mother and son were talking without actually looking at each other.
Rana Ji was about to leave but was stopped by his mother's voice yet once again, "Humme khushi hai ki aap ghar laut aaye. Aurr garv bhi. Aaj agar Raja Sahab zinda hota toh unge bhi fakr hota aap par."
A slight smile made its way to his lips as his mother praised him. Shaking his head, he walked away to his room.
Today was going to be a long day. After all he had to meet the people of his state.
It was his wife's portrait that greeted him as he stepped inside his room. All the interiors, those expensive things that decorated his room weren't of importance to him. The only thing that he valued was his wife's portrait.
Caressing the portrait, he softly whispered, "My heart died with you. You were my heart's beats after all. Ab toh bas ek zinda lash bankar reh gayee hain hum. Iss dil mein ko ab kissi ki chah nahi. Bekhabar hai yeh zindagi ab har uss khushi, har uss ehsaas se jo kabhi aapse jude thhe."
Life. A four lettered word whose meaning is very complicated. It has various meanings branched to it. One of its branch says that life is the name of a journey in which we meet different people, so become important to us, and some we loose but it's such a journey that it never stops for anyone. We think that after loosing a loved one, our life comes to a halt but we don't know that this halt is just a stoppage in your journey when and where you will meet just another person who will walk along you. Give your life yet another meaning.
"Gayatri!!"
"Pata nahi kahan chali jaati hai yeh ladki!" her mom muttered to herself.
"Gayatri!!" She heard her mother yell her name, so she hurriedly sat on her cycle and drove away. She needed to return these book before her mother sees them.
She was excited that not only today she will get some new books to read but also her Rana Ji was coming today.
She blushed at his thought. He was her idol, the perfect gentleman. She wished that she would get married to man like him one day.
Since she was a girl of 5 years, she had always looked upto him for no particular reason. Her father used to sing his praises most of the time. Even as a child Rana Ji was known for his bravery and wisdom.
And that day, 10 years ago, he had saved her life and since then she had idolised him. Good thing that Rana Ji was back, unscathed. His people needed his leadership.
She applied breaks to her cycle as she reached at the front door of the library. Greeting the guard, she showed him her brother's library card that she uses without her mother knowing about it.
The old guard gave her an amused look and let her go. After all for him this was like every week's situation. Gayatri would come, issue the books and read all of the in a just few days. She was an ardent reader, a quick learner.
"Itni jaldi sabhi kitabein padh li tumne?" the librarian asked her.
Gayatri just smile and handed librarian the books. "Aaj mujhe jaldi jaana hai, agli baar main aurr zyada kitabein le jaungi."
After returning the books, Gayatri was coming back home when she noticed a helicopter flying high in the sky. It indicated one thing. Rana Ji was back.
