The actress really tortured me last week I was about to give up on friday coz I was so tired of her and felt the show was so boring until I saw the precap of chandar and Pam. No offence to the actresses fan I presume she is new. But I feel because the show is just 20 episodes that a more experienced actress should have been chosen to do this role. if this was a daily saas bahu show her not being that good would be acceptable because as the show goes on she would have a chance to grow as an actress as time went on. But in 20 episodes I think 1 of the experienced actresses who have been on tv should have been chosen for this character. I was reading whatever info I could find on the show and 1 article said that the sudha is supposed to be beautiful and I dnt even feel like she is that I was thinking of her as makeup ka rani whenever I saw her. Not that there is anything wrong with her makeup and she is supposed to be a cute girl who does herself up. But I dnt like it sometimes. I find her terribly annoying as well her chandar chants is quite annoying and sickening. I guess the character is supposed to be like this but there are a lot of accomplished actresses who could have done a better job in this role. Hope I didn't offend any1 just felt that this character could have been made less ordinary and annoying if some1 a little bit more experienced had done the role. But the actress is doing a good job but I just expected a little bit more from her character although I do feel that the actress is playing her role accordingly

I respect your view but mine are different. I think the actress is doing quite a decent job so far. I did not want an established actress for this role. Firstly because there wouldn't have been this freshness to the character. Secondly an established actress would have had a set image and the baggage of previous character. By the time we would have got used to seeing her and accepting her as Sudha, the show would have got over. Also the features of this actress suit very well to 60s era and esp ger eyes are very expressive. About her being makeup ki dukan, watch any 60s movie and compare Sudhas make up to actresses of those times and you would find it that it is indeed very simple and toned down. Only thing that stands out is her kajal and puffed up hair. But that was very normal those days, in fact the defining style of that era. So of course Sudha is styled like that to give 60s feel, yet her look has been kept very simple and real I feel. About her being a chatterbox, well that is how her character is etched in the initial phase. It's just a device to show her liveliness and childlike innocence. She is a child at heart who has led a very pampered and sheltered life and is unaware of the ways of the world. Yes it can come across annoying and childish at times to some, but perhaps that's how writer wanted it to be to make the contrast starker in her character pre and post marriage. And even then Sudha does have her subtle moments, like in the scene yesterday when Chander said that Pammi touched her. Her eyes understood everything that was unsaid. Maybe you don't like the talkative, chirpy Sudha, but she will have more shades as the story progresses further. Maybe then you would be able to appreciate her better.

I agree with enchanted and I too love Sudha. I never felt Umang Jain was doing things over the top. Sudha is like that. Childish, dependant, naughty and pampered. Sudha will grow post marriage once out of the shell, when she is forced to see a life which she has not imagined till now.

Look at Pammi in yesterday epi. She says she got married early. Before she understood what relation is , she saw a very ugly face of it. Pammi's pain as well as her boldness come from her experiences. Those experiences that were harsh. She keeps love in the physical realm because that is how love must have been delivered to her in her brief marriage.

Sudha keeps love in the emotional realm, because that is how she has seen it. Actually that is how most woman see it before those feelings are nipped by harsh realities in marriages where love is treated in the physical realm alone.

Pammi I would say have survived through hardships as she says she doesn't want to carry dead relations on her shoulders. But Sudha her problem will be she wont be able to survive through the harsh realities...

Actually both woman are not bad or good. They just needed a loving caring person in their life who should have made them understand love exists in emotional as well as physical realm and both versions of it are needed. That's why both are attracted to Chander, because as Pammi says Chander is indeed a rare person.

Exactly! What we see of Pammi today is because of the experiences she went through. Who knows how was the real Pammi like, few years back before the reality of life toughened her. Sudha hasnt even embarked on her journey, she is still living in a bubble. Things have changed nowadays. Women see the outside world, have a career of their own and gain a lot of maturity and experience before marriage. But it wasn't like that in those times. Girls esp from privileged backgrounds led a very sheltered and carefree life, marriage was done at a comparatively early age and it was only after marriage that they understood the reality and responsibilities of life. They had to mature and grow up very fast post marriage to adopt to these changes, and every women covered this journey in her own way. So I find nothing unrealistic in how Sudha is sketched so far, coz in those times real challenge started after marriage. At home every daughter is loved and cherished( this part holds true even today).

@enchanted period of the story matters a lot. Girls of those era were very much innocent and had no real knowledge about the relation in a marriage. That was quite shielded from them as in those age it was expected ( even now to some extend) that physical aspect of the marriage had to be initiated by a man and in those days masculinity was indeed defined from how much a man can keep a woman under his control.

Emotions were considered weakness in a man. That's why for most girls of those days post marriage life was a shock as they couldn't cope with that life, but most of them went through it calling it their fate.

Moral high ground and ideals were given over importance over the feelings of heart especially for men.If wife or lover threatened any of these then the woman as well as men for the society sake paid the price. If you look any classic of those times whether it is Saraswatichandra, Devdas the themes recur.

Paro was the victim of Devdas's mistake. In the end neither she nor he lived a life. Kumud suffered for Saras's mistake and Saras was forced to live a life for the sake of his duty.

Here I am happy that they have bought a character like Pammi. I guess Pammi is way ahead of her times as far as her character goes.

Ironically we get a Pammi in a 1960 novel and in today's TV we have to deal with Gopi Bahu and Sandhya beendini.

Sudha is a simple girl, she is not very beautiful, just average looks, a spoilt daddy's girl, she is grown up but still behaves child like.Chandar is her support, she does not even go to market without Chandar or her daddy's permission. Whenever Chandar is not around , she keeps complaining Chandar has made her life miserable but Chandar is the only person who Sudha listens to. She will do whatever Chandar says. Her world starts and ends with her daddy and Chandar. And yes, she has beautiful eyes according to Pammi.
This is how Sudha is described in the novel.
So I think the actress Umang Jain suits for the role of Sudha. Her acting may not be great but not that bad.

Agree!! But if you see Devdas or Saraswatichandra or other novels they follow the norms of society and try to place the characters within socially acceptable limits.But this novel was really much ahead of the time it was written. The boldness lies not only in Pammi but also in Sudha-Chandar relationship ... how the show is going to handle the later part of the story will be the real challenge.

I like the lead actress who is playing Sudha. She's cute & beautiful.

Honestly I don't like the actress who's playing Pammi.

I know it's a finite series but I wish there were more Chandar-Sudha scenes rather than Chandar-Pammi scenes.

Even I had d same feeling for umang when I saw d promo n I was liking pammi n chandar's pair more but after first week im really liking umang ... She is shown naughty not hyper like most of daily shows where d actress is hyper n has no brain in name of innocence ( like khushi frm star plus ) but sudha has right amount of naughtyness , innocence, maturity it doesn't look OTT ... N now im liking sudha m chandar more than pammi n chandar...
