Part 2

Sings Empire

In the Court

"yes tell me, Raghav said one of his people who is standing in front of him. "Your Majesty, the person I brought with me is a thief. He been stealing money since one year. Finally he got caught by our people. Looking at the thief Raghav asked, "Do you have anything to say? the thief bowed his head to Raghav and said, "Your majesty, I lost one of my legs a year ago. Since then I was totally unemployed. No one was ready to give any job to a disable person. I had family. I had no other options besides this. After thinking something Ragahv said, "I can understand your situation but the path you chose is not acceptable. Then Ragahv imprisoned the thief into the cell for 4 months. Sammy was there in the court. He felt somehow Ragahv was not happy with his decision.

At night

Sammy came to Ragahv's room taking chessboard along with him.

Sammy: Ragahv come, let's play a game.

Rag: I don't feel like to. Play with someone else.

Sammy: I know you are very disturbed that's why I came to help you to change your mood.

Raghav didn't say anything. Sammy walked toward him. Placing a hand on Ragavh's shoulder Sammy said, "You didn't make any wrong decision. If you would let the thief go then it would be difficult for you to handle the state.

Rag: can you do me a favor?

Sammy: hm

Rag: can you send money to his family member so that they can survive for atleast one year.

Sammy: I will

Rag: thank you.

Seeing Ragahv going out Sammy asked, "Ragahv, where are you going?

Rag: I need to talk to that thief.

Then he left from there. Sammy followed him behind.

Cell

Seeing Ragahv the thief bowed his head.

Thief: your majesty, you wanted to see me?

Rag: yes. You don't need to worry about your family for now. Once you come out of the cell don't get involve in those things again. Come to me. I will give you a suitable job here in the Empire.

Thief: your majesty. I really appreciate. You are so kind.

As Ragahv turned to leave he saw Sammy.

Rag: Sammy you?

After thinking something Ragahv said, "You thought that I will let the thief go right?

Sammy: Ragahv, I know how big heart you have. You can't see people in pain. But when you became the ruler you have to keep your emotion aside. I just don't want people point their finger at you and say you are not capable enough to run the state. Also you have long way to go.

Rag: you are here na with me. Just keep reminding me.

Few days later

It was one of the four states kings' daughters' marriage ceremony. The kings of the other three states along with their families were invited. When Ragahv, Sammy and Gfather attended the ceremony they met the king of east state Sahil Rana Sings along with his family.

Gfather: Sahil good to see you after a long time.

Sahil: Good to see you too uncle.

GF: you are like my son. You used to come to our empire when Vikram was alive.

Sahil: I know. After he passed out I became very busy and never got chance to visit you

GF: it's ok. I can understand. You had a daughter right? How old is she now?

Sahil: she is 24.

Sahil then introduced his daughter Maya to GF.

Maya: hello

GF: hello beta. You are as prettier as before.

Maya smiled.

Sahil: where are your grandsons?

GF: you met them before right?

Sahil: yes I met them once when they came to our state six months ago

In the meantime Ragahv and Sammy came. Sahil introduced them to his daughter Maya. Sammy found her very beautiful. He fell for her beauty. He raised his hand toward Maya and said, "Hello. Taking his hand in her she replied with a smile, "Hello. Then Maya looked at Ragahv who was standing quiet.

Maya: hello

Rag: hello

Maya: I have heard a lot about you. Glad to see you

Ragahv smiled and nodded his head.

Sammy took Maya with him and made himself busy to know about her. GF and Sahil were watching them staying little far from them.

GF: they look good together

Sahil: I am also thinking the same.

After a little pause Sahil said, "Let's proceed then.

GF: My Ragahv is one year older than Sammy. Once Ragahv will settle down in life I will think about Sammy.

Sahil: No Problem. We will wait.

One week later

Singh Empire

Study room

"You seemed very happy to meet Maya, Gfather said to Sammy.

Sammy: yes she is very beautiful and intelligent.

GF: what else you got to know about her?

Sammy: everything. Her likings, dislikings. And one of her likings is Raghav.

In the meantime Gf's phone rang. He answered the call.

GF: hello, who is this?

Sahil: it is Sahil Uncle.

GF: god bless you beta. I and Sammy were talking about you and your family.

Sahil: I need to talk to you. Do you have a moment?

GF: yes tell me

Sahil: in the party seeing my daughter Maya with Sammy I thought she likes him. When I asked her about Sammy, she directly denied saying she likes Raghav only. Ragahv is the only person she would like to marry. To be honest, I been always admiring Ragahv from the beginning. I would be the luckiest father in law if I get Raghav as a son is law.

GF: Sammy also told me the same.

Sahil: Maya is my only daughter. After this marriage Raghav will be the king of both East and West State.

GF: let me talk to Raghav.

Sahil: please do and let me know.

GF: sure. I will

Then he cut the call.

Sammy: didn't I tell you that Maya likes Raghav?

In the meantime Raghav entered into the study room. "Did I come to the wrong time? Ragahv asked

GF: No, come.

Rag: Gfather, I need to discuss with you with a matter

GF: related to the court matter?

Rag: yes

GF: I also need to talk to you with a matter

Rag: is everything alright?

GF: Sahil called me for her daughter. You already met Maya in the party. She is really descent and beautiful. I really like her. I think she is a perfect match.

Ragahv didn't say anything.

GF: Raghav, you are 26 now. Don't you think you should think about your marriage, children?

Rag: GF I didn't think anything about it. Also I don't have time for this.

Sammy: then spend some time to think about it na. If you don't get marry how I will be able to get marry. I don't want to grow older without marry, children.

Taking Ragahv's one hand in him, GF said, "Marriage is a beautiful thing in life. After marriage two people connect with not just heart but soul as well. It is this connection which helps people to open up and share everything with their partner. Most importantly, you won't feel lonely anymore.

Raghav's bedroom

2 AM

Sleep was far away from Raghav's eyes. Tomorrow he had to attend some important meetings, with this thought he closed his eyes to try to sleep. A 8 years old girls laughing rang into his years. He opened his eyes. He got up from his bed and walked toward the Almirah. He looked at the drawer which was closed for 13 years. He slowly opened it. As his eyes fell on a hair pin a smile appeared on his face. He took it in his hand. His childhood memories flashed out in front of his eyes.

Flashback start

13 years ago

(Raghav was 13)

One afternoon Ragahv came out of the palace to spend some time hiding his identity. Once he reached a new place he noticed some goons following him behind. As he turned to see them he was able to recognize one of the goons. He saw that person with Sammy's mother few days ago. "What do you want? Ragahv asked. "I want your life, the person replied. Ragahv felt like to cry. His own family member would like to kill him. As the person came forward along with a knife, Ragahv came few steps back and then started running. After few minutes he got caught by those goons. Then he decided to fight with them. He was injured as he was fighting with empty handed. Though he knew martial arts but it was very difficult for a 13 years old boy to fight with 3 people alone with empty handed. He was very tired and could not fight with them anymore. He tried to escape. He ran with all his strength. After running almost half an hour he felt he didn't have any strength left. Within a second he felt a pull into bush. "Shussh..., don't talk, a 8 years old girl whispered into his ears. Ragahv was just staring at the girl. For a moment he totally forgot about the incident and those goons. "They are gone now, hearing the girl Ragahv came to his sense. Seeing his injuries the girl said shocked, "Oh my god! Your arm is bleeding. You need immediate dressing. In the mean time she felt few rain drops on her head.

Girl: seems like it will be raining. Come let me take you to a safe place

Ragahv tried to stand up but could not as his legs were also injured. The girl noticed it. Then she helped Ragahv to stand up.

Girl: can you walk? We need to go there before rain starts.

Rag: I will try

After walking few minutes they reached the place. There was a small house. He felt no one lived there for a long time. "This is my friend Prem's house, the girl said and added, "After he lost his parents he been living with us at our place. Ragahv noticed her taking out a hair pin from her long hair and tried to open the lock of the door. In few seconds she unlocked the lock. Raghav was just watching her surprised. The girl made him sit on a bed. While cleaning his injured areas, she asked, "Why those people were after you? "They wanted to ki..., he stopped.

Girl: they wanted to what?

Rag: I don't know

Girl: they don't look good people though. You need to be alert.

Rag: hm. Thank you for your concern.

Girl: I need to go outside to pick some leaves for your injured areas.

Rag: It is raining outside. How will you go?

Girl: don't worry

Before she left she told him not to open the door. She will come inside using the hair pin.

Few minutes later she came back along with some leaves. She pasted them and applied them on his affected areas. Then she covered those areas with her dupatta. "Thank you, hearing Ragahv the girl looked up to see him and smiled.

Rag: How do you know all these at this age?

Girl: I lost my mother two years ago that's why I got to learn lot of things at early age.

Rag: I am sorry to hear about your mother. Who else is in your family?

Girl: My father, I and my friend Prem.

Rag: is your home too far?

Girl: no. about 20 minutes walking distance.

Rag: what were you doing over there?

Girl: I was plying hide and seek with my friend

Rag: with Prem?

Girl: no, with Fatima my classmate.

Rag: isn't she looking for you?

Girl: no, she already left. I was about to go home but stopped when I noticed some people after you.

Rag: hm

The girl kept on talking and smiling and Ragahv found her very cute. He felt like he could hear her all day long and would not feel bother.

Girl: Are you hungry?

Rag: little bit. But its ok

Girl: you stay here. Let me go home and bring something for you to eat.

Few minutes later the girl came back. She was breathing heavily.

Rag: what happened? Didn't you go to your house?

Girl: no. I saw those people who were after you that's why I came back.

Rag: they still didn't go?

Girl: how you will be able to go back to your house?

Rag: don't worry about me. I will be fine after taking little rest

After a little pause he said, "I think you should go home. Your father must be worried for you.

Girl: I know my father must be worried.

After a little pause she said, "Are you sure you will be fine after I leave? Raghav smiled and said, "Hm. She was about to turn to leave, "By the way, it was nice to meet you, hearing Ragahv she smiled and nodded her head. Then she walked toward the door. Before she could open the door she heard some voices, "where did he go? "He must be around here. "If we go back without killing him then she will kill us. the girl ran toward Ragahv and hugged him tight. He felt her crying. Ragahv was shocked. "Those people wanted to kill you, the girl said while crying. Ragahv's hands automatically went up and wrapped her around unknowingly. Raghav held her in his arms for a while as he felt her scared as well.

At night

Ragahv thought to escort the girl to her house. They came out of the house. Few minutes after walking the girl said, "I can't walk anymore. Suddenly she became unconscious. Ragahv didn't know her house that's why he brought her back to the house they were staying earlier. He made her lay on the bed. She kept on blabbering in her sleep. He felt her temperature high. He came outside and managed some water. Then he tried to make her temperature down. Ragahv was also very weak. Without caring himself he was taking care of the girl.

After two long hours finally her temperature came down. He was relieved. As she opened her eyes a smile appeared on his face. "Feeling better? Ragahv asked. The girl nodded her head.

Girl: did I bother you a lot?

Rag: not at all

Girl: I can't bear a single drop of rain. When I get wet I fall sick. Then my father stays awake whole night.

Rag: when you cant bear a single drop of rain then why did you go out while raining?

Girl: your injuries would get even more worst if I wouldn't apply those paste.

Ragahv could not take it anymore. He was feeling very tired. He laid down beside the girl.

The next day morning

Ragahv and the girl were walking side by side. On the way to the girl's house he noticed her searching something up into her hair.

Rag: what are you looking for?

Girl: my hair pin. I think I left it in the house.

Rag: how did you learn to open the lock using hair pin?

Girl: my father taught me. We have only one key and father keeps that for him. I use that if he is not at home.

Rag: I never knew that a hair pin can open lock

Girl: only my one can open it. My hair pins are made by my mother only for me. You won't get them in the stores.

Rag: I see

Girl: Is your house too far?

Rag: no

He lied

Girl: once you go home make sure you see a doctor.

Rag: hm

After walking few more minutes he asked, "By the way, what is your name? before she could say anything, "Kalpana, hearing someone both Ragahv and the girl looked to the front. Ragahv noticed a boy almost his age walking toward them. "Kalpana, where have you been whole night? the boy asked and added worried, "Do you know how much we were worried about you?

Kal: it's a long story. I will tell you later.

Noticing Ragahv with Kalpana, the boy asked, "Who is he? What are you doing with him? Kalpana smiled and said, "He is my friend. I met him yesterday.

Boy: Kalpana, how can you trust someone so easily? You just met him and made him your friend.

Ragahv noticed the boy looking at him doubtfully. Kalpana will get scolded; with this thought Raghav opened his mouth.

Rag: she saved me from some goons. This is how we met yesterday.

Kal: Do you know Prem he also took care of me.

"What happened with you? saying so Prem started checking her hands and legs. Ragahv found Prem very concerned toward Kalpana.

Kal: I am fine now.

Prem: let's go home. Your father is waiting for you.

Kal: hm

Kalpana looked at Ragahv and said, "You take care ok. Ragahv felt like to place a soft kiss on her forehead. He smiled and said, "I will. You take care too. Raghav was just watching them leaving.

One month later

Ragahv came back to that village only to meet Kalpana. When he asked villagers about her whereabouts they told him that her father got a job in the city, so they left the village. He felt an unknown pain in his heart. He walked to the house he spent with Kalpana. He thought he lost Kalpana for forever. Taking Kalpana's hair pin laying in front of the house, Ragahv came back with heavy heart. (Flashback end)

Present

Looking at the hairpin Ragahv whispered, "Where are you Kalpana? All of a sudden, when you will grow up don't fall for someone deeply and madly. The more you will fall the more you will get hurt, his father's words rang into his ears. Ragahv put the hairpin into the drawer and closed it.

Ragahv got busy with his court matter again. He also had to visit Dubai and Australia to attend some meetings. GF thought to talk to Ragahv again once he will come back.

One month later

When Ragahv came back he asked for some time. GF was happy. That time Ragahv didn't deny. He could not break GF's hurt anymore.

Few days later

Both East and West state fixed a date for Ragahv and Maya's engagement. Maya was very happy. Finally her dream to be Ragahv's wife was coming true.
