Chapter 13
Their was so much chatter in the hospital. For some reason it was extremely busy. Kalpi was heading to raghav in anger, but stop when movers block her way. Moving boxes. She turn when she heard raghav name being called.
" ma!?" He says surprise to see her " what are you doing here? How do you even know about rahul "
Gauri frown " paki called and told me. What happen to my grand child?"
Raghav shook his head " I don't know ma, rahul was with paki. We will just wait for her to explain. "
Kalpi seeing them two vision starts to be shaky. She remebered. What Gauri did to her, and she will surely pay her back with rahul love. She turn and walk away promising she will come back to see her son. When she left, paki showed up. Raghav asks what happen. Paki starts playing innocent.
" I don't know how he got stuck, in the closet. I took him to my office and told him to stay while I get food. He must have wondered around, out of curiousity."
Gauri agreed, she said children tend to do that a lot. Raghav stares at paki " you left him for five hours to get food?, how can food take that long, when you usually order food to your company." He says suspicious
Paki was surprise, " how do you even know that"
" I talk to some of your workers" he says.
Gauri gasp " how could you be so irresponsible, paki. 5hrs, of course something would happen "
Paki apologize, she says she's unfit to be his mother. She says raghav should leave her. Gauri told her not to speak so rationally. She says, she's rahul mother, she has every right to be near her son. Raghav sigh, it wasn't long before the doctor told them rahul was awake. When they enter, they saw rahul eating from a lunch bowl.
Raghav sat besides him, asking him what happen. Rahul staid quiet. He was to busy enjoying his mom food. The doctor told them rahul has asthma, he said they should be more careful because he could have died. " did I hear right, doctor " Raghav says
" yes, has he been using the nebulizer"
" nebulizer?" " no, his mom, never pack one"
Gauri look at paki " how can you forget that?"
Paki stutter " i-it lost my mind "
Raghav was still surprise, rahul has asthma. He told the doctor it can't be true because no one in his family has that.Gauri looks guilty " Raghav, can I talk to you for a second "
Raghav nods. They step outside, and sat down on the bench." What is it ma?"
" where do I began" she says " Raghav, your father has asthma, he had it since he was little. He just never told you because people would use it as a weakness, saying his unfit to be king "
" why didn't father tell me?"
" he didn't want you to worry. Why do you think he made you do all those things when you we're young. He knew it won't be long before news got out that he has this condition. You should know what will happen. He wanted you to be ready to take the throne after him."
Raghav never thought about it. He always assume his father, just wanted to ruin his life he never knew it was to protect their heritage. Gauri says this condition passed down to your son, she told him it would be best if he ask his father more about it, and squash the fight their doing. " I refuse, I wil not go and beg to father"
"Raghav"
" no mother, if the king wants to see me, then he will come and find me. I understand he was trying to protect and prepare me, but he shouldn't have banned me and everything I had."
" just see your father Raghav"
." I refuse, and I won't speak of this again" he says getting up to leave, Gauri sigh. Before saying " did you hear that, honey "
The voice says " he will never change, and I refuse to see him. Its obvious he still haven't learned anything." He says coughing
Gauri told him, to relax. She says Raghav will come to him. If not then she will take rahul in his place. She hang up and walk away.
The next day, Kalpi walk to rahul room and left some of rahul favorite dish. The doctor asks if she will go in. She refuse saying she just came to drop something. She told the doctor not to tell his father about her visit. The doctor agreed, and left kalpi to herself. Kalpi watch as rahul got up and look around, calling her. She watch him look at the dish she bought with surprise and starts to eat. She held her tears watching him. How long will i be able to watch you like this rahul. I wont be able to see you grown, and have children. Please dont hate me, for what i have done. If i get better , i will come and find you, i promise.
She quickly hide when she saw raghav, and watch as he walk in.Raghav saw rahul eating while crying. He sat down and asks him what was wrong. " mama...she was here" he says
" what, your real mom? How do you know"
He points to the food. Eyes widen. Raghav says, if rahul mother was around that means she didn't get far. He was suddenly snap out of his thought when rahul got up, saying mama. He was out the door and ran. Raghav ran after him calling his name. " rahul!... rahul! ..stop", but rahul didn't hear, he left the hospital and ran after Kalpi. Kalpi seeing rahul kept running " please go back rahul" she whispers
Rahul now with tears told his mom to stop. He didn't notice a small crack while walking, and fell crying. Kalpi stop when she heard rahul yell. She turn and ran to him, calling his name. When she was near, rahul got up and latch on to her. Wiping his tears on her pants. " ma ma, don't leave. Why do you want to leave rahul. Rahul miss you" he says
Kalpi held him, her heart broke " I want to go back, I don't want to be here...i-if your not gonna be with rahul" " rahul don't want papa, he doesn't love me. Only mama does, please take me back, don't abandoned me" he whimpered
Kalpi, hugs him tight. Telling him everything will be OK. "fine, mama will take you with her. Don't cry anymore...OK",
Raghav angrily walk across the street. He was confuse, and mad. He saw a women grabbing rahul and taking him with her and panicked.
