Superb story. Just got round to reading all 3 chaps at one go. Your emotions undergo a 'seesaw ' effect !!! After 1st chap you get to dislike Rags ,next chap, detest him more but by the 3rd chap your heart does a 'turn about ' in 360 degrees ! Surprise ! I am sympathetic towards Rags and like him for showing such high respect for Kalpi ! Infact ,he has a complete change of his 'playboy ' image !!! Fab writing. Thanks and please do continue soon.
Chapter 4
Raghav: "Mom and dad, "I would like to marry Kalpana."
Prem: Yes uncle. I would like to marry Kalpana."
Hearing Raghav both Vikram and Gauri was shocked. "Have you gone mad Raghav?" Vikram shouted and said angrily. He got off from the couch and continued, "You are only 24! Is this the age to marry someone? You didn't even complete your Masters. You have lot of things to do in your life. You have to focus on your career first then do whatever you want to do."
"Dad, right now marriage is more important than anything else in my life," Raghav said getting upset. "May I know why you want to marry Kalpana?" Gauri wanted to actually know what was going on in his mind. What did he feel for Kalpana? Gauri asked in serious tone. She looked at Raghav's eyes directly and asked, "Do you love her?"
"Mom, I don't believe in love," Raghav replied. "Then why you want to marry her?" Gauri asked him again, "Isn't it that she became your jid and you just want to fulfill it?"
"Mom, it is not like that. I need her and she needs me in both of our lives," Raghav replied still upset. "Don't you think love is important in any relationship?" Gauri said. "So far I know, you and dad had arranged marriage and before marriage you both even didn't know each other very well," Raghav continued, "Nanu said that it took time to accept dad. As time passed you both came closer slowly and now you both can't think anything without each other. It means you both need each other in your life."
"By the way who is that girl?" Vikram said angrily. "Mom already knows her," Raghav said, "But you know her dad. He works one of our mills. Vittal Jadav."Hearing him both Vikram and Gauri was shocked and said at the same time, "What!" "Yeh ladka pagal ho chuki hai," Vikram shouted angrily, "The famous business tycoon Vikram Singhania's only son wants to marry one of their workers daughter?" Vikram looked at Gauri and said, "Gauri do something. I can't handle this ladka anymore."
Hearing him Raghav got angry and said, "What is the problem if Kalpana is one of our workers daught..." Gauri didn't finish his sentence and said, "This is not the problem that Kalpana is one of our workers daughter. This is not the problem that she is poor. I would be happy to get a daughter in law like her for my son. But the problem is tum uski layak nahi ho. You don't deserve her." Raghav got upset and said, "Mom, how could you say that?"
"Yes," Gauri continued, "Raghav, how could you expect her after doing all this to her? How could you expect that she will agree to marry you? How could you expect that I will agree? We very well know your intension. After fulfilling your wish you will throw her out from your life." Gauri said with a serious tone, "Raghav, she is my daughter. And I won't let anyone ruin her life." Hearing her Raghav was surprised. "Yes, though I didn't give birth to her but she is more than my own child and I will stand by her side until my last breath."
"Mom, don't forget that I am also your child and we have same blood in our bodies," Raghav said softly with challenge, "If you are stubborn then I am also stubborn. I thought that you are my parents that's why came to let you know my decision. Do you really think your son will wait for your decision?" Saying so he was about to leave but stopped thinking something. He looked back and said, "Let see how you protect your daughter from marrying me."
On the other hand Vittal was surprised and happy at the same time when Prem asked him for Kalpana's hand in marriage. "Beta, you are really a nice person. I would be happy to get a son in law like you for my daughter," Vittal said. Prem was waiting with the hope of positive feedback. Vittal continued, "But beta, I won't be able to say anything to you now. I need to talk to Kalpana. She is only 19 and has lots of things to do in her life." Hearing him Prem said holding his hand, "Uncle, don't worry about her dream. I will help her in every possible way." Vittal was so pleased to hear him. He decided to talk to Kalpana about it.
In the evening when Kalpana came home Vittal told her about Prem that he wants to marry her. Hearing him Kalpana denied saying, "Baba, I am only 19. How could you talk about my marriage at this age? You know na I have to fulfil my dream first then will think about marriage." "But beta, I want you to think about it once more," Vittal said, "Achchey rishta hamesha nahi atehey. Prem is a nice guy. He told me that he will support you in every possible way. On top of that I am sick. Anything can happen with me anytime. I could die peacefully if I could hand your hand over to a nice person. Kalpana felt bad. She hugged her baba and said sad, "Baba, I will never talk to you if you ever say that you are going to leave me." Kalpana did not agreed to marry Prem that's why Vittal decided to tell Prem Kalpana's decision. Vittal called Prem to meet him in the evening.
The next evening vittal was waiting for Prem. Hearing the sound of the doorbell Vittal went to open the door thinking Prem might be on the door. Once he opened the door he was shocked seeing the person at the door. Vittal stood at the door frozen. His trance broke when Raghav asked, "Uncle, May I come in?" "Chetey Malik aap at this time?" Vittal asked confused. "Actually I need to talk to you. May I come in?"Raghav asked again. Once Vittal nodded, Raghav entered into the house. Though vittal was worried about Raghav's sudden presence he had to let him enter the house because he was his Bade Malik Vikram's son. "Bring the things from the car," Raghav ordered his driver while fixing himself on the sofa. "You didn't tell me why you are here?" Vittal asked hesitating. Seeing driver placing some packets on the table, Vittal asked, "Chotey Malik, what are these for?" "Shagun," Raghav replied. Hearing him Vittal didn't understand and asked, "Shagun?" "Yes uncle, I heard this is a part of rituals before marriage," Raghav said with smile. Seeing vittal confused Raghav continued, "Uncle I came here to fix mine and Kalpana's marriage." Hearing him vittal was shocked. He became wordless. "And I want this marriage as soon as possible." He looked here and there in the house. "Uncle, you don't worry. I will try to make her happy. I will give her everything she deserves." Hearing him Vital has started feeling weak. He was breathing heavily. Raghav noticed this. "Are you ok, Uncle?" Raghav said worried. "No, I am not," Vittal replied. "Let me take you to the hospital," Raghav said concerned. "I need to take some rest please," Vittal pleaded. "Okay, you take rest. I will talk to you about it later," Saying so Raghav left from there. Raghav was very upset that he couldn't fix his marriage. When he got into the car he saw a bike stopped in front of the chawl. He clenched his fist in anger when the person took off his helmet showing his face. It was Prem. "What is he doing here? What is his relationship with this family?" Raghav said in his mind, I need to find it out. Saying so he left from there.
Seeing Vittal breathing heavily, Prem got worried," Uncle what happened?" Prem asked worried. Vittal told Prem to sit next to him. Prem sat. Vitttal held prem's hand and said, "Promise me, you will always be with my daughter. Promise me you will protect her from all the evil eyes." Vittal looked at his eyes directly with hope. "Promise me Prem." PRem nodded in yes and said, "I promise you uncle. From now on all her responsibilities are mine," Prem said.
Once Kalpana entered into the house, her eyes widened seeing all the packets that Raghav brought laying on the table. "What is this Baba?" Kalpana asked with surprise and confused at the same time. "I have fixed your marriage with Prem," Vittal said. "How could you Baba?" Kalpana said upset, "So Prem ji brought this as a shagun right?" "No, Cheotey Malik," Vittal said."Chotey Malik?" Kalpana asked confused. "The person who I work for, his son Raghav." Vittal replied. "Baba works for Raghav's dad?" Kalpana mumbled. Kalpana sat beside him and said holding Vittal's hand, "You were worried seeing Raghav that's why you have fixed my marriage with Prem right?" She continued giving him assurance, "Baba, don't worry about Raghav. Nothing will happen with me." Though Kalpana didn't take it seriously but Vittal did. "Kalpana, you don't know anything about Raghav that's why you are not taking this seriously," Vittal continued, "I know Raghav very well. I saw him with several girls. He is very stubborn. Once he sets his mind on anything he gets it immediately. He doesn't respect his parents. How he will be able to respect his wife. I really feel bad for his parents. I saw them suffer a lot for their son. Beta his eyes are on you now. I am very scared. If anything happens with you then I won't be able to leave. Tujhe meri kasam," Vittal said putting Kalpana's palm on his head, "You have to agree to marry Prem. And this is my final decision." Vittal was too stubborn about this marriage that finally Kalpana gave up. She understood his situation. She decided to talk to Prem to clear something before marriage.
Two days later Vittal was feeling good and decided to come back to his work. When he reached the Mill he saw Raghav was waiting for him. Seeing him Raghav asked, "Uncle, how are you feeling now?" "I am still sick and doctor told me not to take so much stress," Vittal replied. "Then why did you come to work? You should take rest at home," Raghav said showing lots if concern. "Uncle, come with me. I will drop you off," Raghav said. Seeing him not responding, Raghav said, "Don't worry about dad. I will talk to him. He will understand your situation." "Chotey Malik, you don't need to worry about me? I will be fine," saying so Vittal was about to go but stopped when Raghav said, "Uncle, I need to talk to you." Vittal knew what he was going to say. Before Raghav could say anything Vittal excused himself saying he has some important work to do. Raghav stopped him from leaving again saying, "I don't know why but it seems to me that you are avoiding me." Hearing him Vittal didn't utter a word and left from there.
On the same evening Vittal went to meet vikram and Gauri. Vikram and Gauri were discussing about something, in the meantime a maid came and told them that Vittal came and wanted to talk to you. "Bring him here," Vikram said. "Namastey Bade Malik and Bade Malkin," Vittal said putting his palms together. "Actually, I came here to return this packets," vital said placing them on the table. "What are these?" Vikram asked. "Chotey Malik brought this for Kalpana," Vittal replied. Though Vittal didn't say it clearly but they understood. "Vittal sit, we need to talk to you," Vikram said. Before they could say anything Vittal said, "Malik, I fixed my daughter's marriage with Prem." Hearing him both of them were shocked. "Malik, I need your help to accomplish my daughter's marriage without any problem. It won't happen with the presence of your son. He will try to create problems." Hearing Vittal Gauri said, "Vittal ji, I am with you. She is my daughter too. I will help you in every possible way to accomplish Kalpana's marriage. I promise you. I won't let anything happen." "By the way where did you fix my daughter's marriage?" Gauri asked with smile. "Prem is really a nice person. He is an honest police officer. I am sure he will keep my daughter happy." Vittal replied with hope. "I am very glad to hear it. She deserves a nice person in her life," Gauri said. "Malik, my daughter doesn't want me to work anymore," Vittal said, "I would be appreciated if you..." Vikram said cutting his word, "Vittal, you wait here." Saying so Vikram left from there. After five mins he came back with two lakhs rupees and said handling it, "Have it. This is the amount we pay every employee after their retirement. You can use it for your daughter's marriage." After that the three of them discussed how and when their marriage will take place. After Vittal left, Vikram said worried, "Gauri, do you think we are doing right with Raghav?" Hearing him, Gauri said, "Raghav doesn't deserve my daughter. And I want my daughter to be in a safe hand."
Prem was very happy that finally Kalpana agreed to marry him. Prem picked up Kalpana from her college and went to a restaurant. After placing order for food Prem said lovingly, "Thank you for accepting my proposal. Thank you for deciding to come into my life." Kalpana nodded with smile. "Kalpana ji, now tell me what did you want to discuss about?" Prem asked. "Prem ji, after marriage, I will not leave my job and will continue my education," Kalpana said without any hesitation. Hearing this Prem smiled and said, "I know you have a dream and I will support in every possible way to fulfill your dream." "Anything else?" Prem asked. "Prem ji, I am the only child of my parents and I want..." Prem understood what she was trying to say. He cut her sentence and continued, "Uncle will stay with us." Hearing him Kalpana felt relieved. She felt good. "He is not only your baba but my baba too," Prem said, "After my parents died I totally broke down. I was so lonely. When you and your baba came into my life I never felt that loneliness anymore." One of Raghav's friends was having dinner with his girlfriend in the same restaurant. When he was going to the restroom he saw Prem and Kalpana together. Without wasting a second he called Raghav. As soon as Raghav reached the place they already finished their dinner. Raghav saw them sitting on the bike and left from there. "No one can save you from me today," Raghav mumbled with rage in his eyes.
Raghav was sitting in his car waiting for Prem to return from kalpana's house little far from the chawl. Once Prem came back from Kalpana's house after dropping her off, Raghav followed him increasing the speed of his car behind. His temperature was increasing as he was going closer to the bike. Raghav was about to hit Prem's Bike, "I hate you Raghav." Kalpana's words were ringing into his ears. He slowed down his car with frustration. He knew if anything happens with Prem then Kalpana will accuse him and never forgive him for this. He will have to lose Kalpana forever. Raghav felt so helpless at that moment.
Raghav recalled everything related to his marriage to Kalpana while taking a sip from his drink. He recalled how his parents denied, how his mom challenged, how Vittal ignored, how kalpana would get closer to Prem day by day. All the signs were showing negativity. It would be very difficult for Raghav to get married to Kalpana. All of a sudden something clicked in his mind. Without wasting a second he dialed someone's number.
Kalpana had headache that's why decided to take a pain killer and sleep well as she has to go to work next day. By mistakenly she took a sleeping pill that was kept for Vittal instead of pain killer. After few minutes she drifted into sleep. All of a sudden Vittal got a phone call from the mill that there is something emergency so he had to go there for an hour. He went to Kalpana's room to tell her that he will be back in an hour. But seeing her sleeping he decided not to bother her and left from there.
Raghav was in his car waiting for Vittal to come out. After Vittal left Raghav got off from his car. While going up using stairs he said in his mind, I tried every possible way to get married to you but it didn't work. Sorry Kalpana, you, mom, your dad didn't leave me any other option besides this. Seeing the window open he used it to enter into her room. Though Raghav was drunk but he was in his sense. As soon as he entered into her room, his eyes fell on a sleeping beauty. Seeing Kalpana was sleeping peacefully, he couldn't resist smiling.

He took out his cell phone unknowingly and took a snap. While taking snap he noticed that some hair was covering Kalpana's face. He walked toward her bed and sat beside her. He leaned on to her and tried to move her hair from her face. While moving hair his eyes fell on her beautiful face. Her beautiful eyes, rosy lips, sharp nose, red cheeks. He was staring at her without blinking his eyes. After few minutes he touched her cheek and started caressing slowly. While caressing he whispered, "Kalpana, you are so beautiful." Then his eyes fell on her rosy lips again. He went more closure to her. There was only one inch apart in between their lips. He could feel her breath. He was about to capture them but something stopped him. Kalpana, you are so innocent. Though I want you badly, paar main tomhara damanpe daag nahin laga satta hoon, he said in his mind pulling himself back. He covered her body with the blanket then got off from the bed. He was about to leave the house but all of a sudden something was screaming from his mind saying, if you don't make her yours today then you will have to lose her forever. On the other hand his heart was denying saying, I can't hurt her." He thought something. Before he left he took some snaps of them together.
Two days later Kalpana and Prem were taken to a place which was little far from the city with the help of Gauri. Prem was still unaware of Raghav. He didn't know why they arranged their marriage far from the city. He was just obeying elder's decision silently. There were only five people present. Prem, Kalpana, Vittal, Gauri and Pandit ji. Prem was told that after this marriage they will arrange a receptionist party where lots of people will be invited.
On the other hand while swiping through his and Kalpana's picture on his phone, Raghav said, "Uncle, seeing this picture, now you will have no other option but to agree to our marriage. Without wasting a second he left for Kalpana's house. Seeing the lock in the door, he asked one of the neighbors but no one could say anything about it. Then he went to her workplace and got to know that she took off for few days and nobody knows why. "Where has she gone?" Raghav mumbled. Then he decided to go to the police station to meet Prem. "Prem took off from his work for few days," One of the police officer said. "What is going on in both Kalpana and Prem's mind? Why did they take off from their work at the same time? "Do you know the reason?" Raghav asked. "He is getting married today," the police officer said with smile, "After his honeymoon he will join." Hearing him it didn't take time for Ragahv to understand. He asked the police officer about the place where they are getting marriage but the police officer said he that he doesn't know. Without wasting a second he dialed someone's number and told him to trace the place through Kalpana's number. After two minutes he got to know that she left her phone at home. Then he arranged Prem's number and told the person to try with prem's number. Without wasting a second he drove off to reach the place.
While driving he was having problem as his knees were shaking. He broke all the rules and regulations while driving. He crossed many red lights and increased the speed limit of his car. Police were behind him. But he didn't care. His only target was to reach the place before Kalpana's marriage. After two long hours finally Raghav reached the Mandir. He got off from the car and ran toward the Mandir huffing and puffing. Once he came near the Mandir, Pandit ji said, "Vivah somponno hogaya. Aap dono pati patni ban chuki ho." Raghav felt so weak to stand on his knees. His heart broke into thousand pieces. He was just staring at Kalpana with mixture of emotions. Once his eyes fell on her sindoor and her Mangalsutra, tear fell from his eyes unknowingly. Raghav was there but no one noticed him. After few seconds two police officers came and arrested Raghav for breaking the rules. While Raghav was taken to the jip his eyes never left Kalpana. He still couldn't believe that he lost his Kalpana forever.
"Thank you Gauri Malkin for helping me," Vittal said, "It wouldn't be possible without your help." "Vittal ji, Kalpi is my daughter too," Gauri said, "I am very glad that mujhey Kalpi ka kanna dan karney ka mouka mila." Both Prem and Kalpana touched Gauri and Vittals feet. They blessed them. "Prem, Kalpi is now your responsibilities. Please take care of my daughter," Gauri said. "I will Aunty," Prem said. Handing a key to Kalpana, Gauri said, "Kalpi, this is a simple gift from me to both of you. I bought an apartment for you. I want you to start your new life in this apartment." Hearing her Kalpana said, "Sorry Maa, we can't accept it. The love, support you gave me that's more than enough." Gauri was not ready to listen to her. Though Kalpana was denying but Gauri made Kalpana promise that whever she needed it, she would have to take it. Then she left for Singapore as her brother was having operation and she needed to be there.
Raghav was sitting on a bench with his head down in the lock up. "Come, you got bailed," A constable said. Raghav came out from the lock up and saw his friend Mizu was waiting for him. Seeing his red eyes, Mizu understood how much Raghav cried. He put his hand on Raghav's shoulder and said, "You know what Raghav, the amount of time you spent on that girl, if you would have spent in the politics then you would be a prime minister now." Without uttering a word Raghav left from there. While driving the car, Mizu continued, "Sob mehenat pad pani pad gaya." Hearing him Raghav got angry and told Mizu to stop the car. Once he stopped the car Raghav said, "She is married to someone else it doesn't mean that I lost her." Saying so Raghav got off from the car leaving Mizu in a deep thought. What is he going to do now?
Prem's House
Kalpana was sitting in the middle of the bed with her head covered with a pallu and waiting for her husband. Hearing the sound of a knock on the door, Kalpana's heart started beating fast. Prem entered into the room and closed the door. He walked slowly toward the bed and sat beside her. He moved her pallu to reveal his beautiful wife's face. Kalpana lowered her eyes shyly. He placed his palm on her cheek and said, "Mashallah! Kalpana, you are so beautiful. You know what Kalpana, when I saw you for the first time, I fell in love with you. Then when I got to know more about you I fell for you even more." Kalpana blushed. She bent and touched his feet to take ashirwad. He softly pulled her up by her arms and said bringing her into his arms, "your place is not there but here, in my arms. "Thank you for coming into my life. Thank you for making me complete. I am very lucky to have a girl like you in my life." Hearing him Kalpana hugged him tightly as she found peace in his arms after a long time in her life. Now she has someone who can protect her from all the evil eyes. And she didn't have to be scared of that person who made her life hell. He broke the hug and said cupping her face lovingly, "Kalpana I love you." Kalpana smiled and lowered her eyes shyly feeling his desire eyes on her. He brought her more closer to him and was about to kiss on her lips, tring..tring..."One second," Saying so he picked up the phone and said, "Hello?" The person from the other side said, "Sir, sorry to disturb you at this time but you have to come to the police station for a while. It is a big emergency." "Okay, I am coming." Saying so he cut the phone call and walked toward Kalpana and said apologizing, "Sorry, Kalpana, I am feeling bad leaving my newly bride alone and doing my duty. But I have to go to the police station for a while but I will be back soon." "You don't have to say sorry." Kalpana said smiling, "I can understand, you are a police officer, so your duty is first."
Seeing Prem coming out from his house, Raghav said in his mind, you dared to take my Kalpana away from me. Now you will have to pay for this. Raghav's car was behind following Prem. On the way to the police station he increased his speed limit and pushed Prem's bike. "Sorry sweetheart kalpana, you didn't leave any other option for me," Raghav said looking at Prem laying with pools of blood on the road.
Two hours passed but Kalpana was still waiting for her husband. Tring..tring..Kalpana picked up the phone and said, "Hello?" the person said from the other side, "Hi! Are Mrs. Kalpana Prem Kapoor?" "Yes, I am," Kalpana answered. "Mam, I am calling from XYZ hospital. Your husband got an accident," The person said. Hearing him Kalpana dropped to the floor as her knee were shaking and she felt weak.
Kalpana reached the hospital and asked the doctor how was her husband. "I am sorry Mrs. Kapoor," Doctor said, "His condition is very poor as he lost lots of blood because of the accident and he needs immediate operation." "Please do the surgery and save my husband," Kalpana said pleading. "Okay, deposit five lacks and I will start the processor," the doctor said. Hearing him Kalpana mumbled, "Five lacks?" "Yes you heard right," Saying so doctor left from there. "How I will be able to save his life," Kalpana said crying. "Why bappa, why can't you see me happy?" Kalpana said as she couldn't believe her luck. "Kalpana." Hearing her name from behind, Kalpana looked back. She saw the person. The last person she wanted to see. Her eyes enraged. She tightened her grip on her pallu. He stared at Kalpana with her bridal attire. "Kalpana, why are you worried?" The person said, "I will save your husband." Hearing him Kalpana looked at him with the look of disgust. She knew what he was going to say. He continued with a smirk, "In return," he paused then walked toward Kalpana and whispered into her ear, "Baas one night..."Kalpana, the way you didn't leave any option for me, so did I. Raghav said in his mind, you have no other choice besides accepting this. Once you will agree your so called husband will through you out from his life. Then you will be all mine forever.
